Re-Sleeve or Sleeve to Bypass / DS
miss_smiles replied to miss_smiles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
THANK YOU so much for responding! Especially knowing it may not require the 3-6 month diet like the first time around. I definitely DO want a bypass now, especially since the sleeve failed. I would hate to have a re-sleeve just to have it happen again. I really hope it is indeed the surgeon who messed up and that my occasional bad habits isn't the culprit. Please keep me posted, and good luck to you! -
Has anyone tried the 5 or 10 day pouch reset? Essentially it is the below, and is supposed to mimic the first few weeks after the surgery to reset the pouch and get you back on track, but on a smaller scale. Days 1 & 2: liquid Protein low-carb Protein shakes, broth, clear or cream Soups, sugar-free Gelatin and pudding. Day 3: Soft Protein canned fish (tuna or salmon) eggs, fresh soft fish (tilapia, sole, etc) Day 4: Firm Protein ground meat (turkey, beef, chicken, lamb), shellfish, scallops, lobster, fresh salmon or halibut. Day 5: Solid Protein white meat poultry, beef steak, pork, lamb, wild game Or 10 day - which is same concept spread out. [Day 1 - Clear liquids only. Day 2 and 3 Full liquids. Day 4 to 6 pureed foods. Day 7 to 9 Soft foods. Day 10 and Beyond Normal diet] I need to get back on track with losing, portion size control, no snacking, etc. so I was wondering if anyone did this and if so, if it worked. Thanks!

Therapy after sleeve
miss_smiles replied to Sugarnspice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has been 11 months for me, sleeved 3/28/16 and on and off this site for a while now. Prior to surgery I had several bouts with eating disorders, I guess you can categorize me as EDNOS (for those of you who do not know, it means eating disorder not otherwise specified), but definitely more so on the bulimic side. Recently, I have been struggling again and it is definitely something that does not go away after surgery. You may think that just because you get sleeved, the food addiction will disappear, you will drop tons of weight and tadaa - you will be "fixed", but it really doesn't work like that. You are not on the road to recovery unless you work on your mind, as much as your body. I would definitely say therapy is beneficial, because I wouldn't want anyone to be where I am at right now! Good luck and take care. -
I was sleeved in March 2016 and after about the 50 pound loss mark - I have been stalled since August. My restriction has lessened as well, and I feel myself being able to eat much more. I also gained some weight back that I lost. I've started to get frustrated and depressed which isn't helping. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? I feel as though I should have lost much more by now. I am tracking food intake, carbs- I try for less than 100, and calories about 1200 - 1500 a day. Was going to the gym 5x a week, but not as often now since the busy time of year - about 2x/week. Starting: 245 Lowest: 185 Current: 195 Goal: 150 5 foot 4, Female 25 yrs. Friends and family say I am being too hard on myself, but I disagree. Any tips or suggestions would help, please!

Alcohol and drugs after surgery
miss_smiles replied to jmc534's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just an update for whoever wants to know: Sleeved on 3/28 - 6 months out as of 9/28. These are just my personal experiences, it may vary from individual to individual. Also, I do not know the long term effects, these are just the immediate effects. (please no judging, I am writing this to try to help people, not get berated) Weed: Same effect as pre-surgery. Still get high, but also still get the munchies. Make sure you do not give into temptation because you may overeat. I was a lightweight pre-surgery and still am after so not sure if quantity makes a difference. Coke/Molly/E: same effect as pre-surgery. Watch out for quantity. Your body will process this much quicker then before because of your smaller stomach. Be sure to stay hydrated. Do not need to worry about eating, because you will have no appetite. Alcohol: same effects as pre-surgery. Watch out for quantity at first. As you drink more, you may notice your tolerance will go up, not quite as much as pre-surgery. But I can go out and have 6 drinks easily without getting sick. I just end up tipsy/drunk depending on how fast I drank, how much Water I drank, or if I ate a few hours before drinking. Also what I drink - wine or mixed drinks. I stay away from beer and carbonated mixers. That still upsets my stomach. Cigarettes: same effects as pre-surgery. I quit then started up a couple months after surgery. Would not recommend smoking because it does more damage in the long term. Wish I would never have picked it up again. Hope this helps. Again, I just want to say I am not endorsing these behaviors, just sharing my experience. -
congrats! onderland was the best feeling in the world for me too! keep up the amazing work!!!!!!

How severe was your hair loss?
miss_smiles replied to AchieveGoals's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm 6 months out and I had no hair loss at all. I have relatively thick long hair so maybe it wasn't noticeable but as long as your take your vitamins and calcium you should be fine (if you want to take an extra biotin it would help too). -

miss_smiles replied to miss_smiles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
did it work?! -
I have been at a standstill for the past 2 months, with 35 pounds to reach my goal of 150. Does anyone have suggestions of how to kick-start my body into loosing again? It really has been a nightmare. I'm going to the gym at least 3x a week, ~1000-1200 calories a day and 100g protein. HELP!

Thank you!!! It was March 28th. I started at 240, I'm down to 185 just really struggling ever since I went on vacation last month. Trying to figure out if I can do more - or if I just keep on doing what I have been and hope the scale eventually moves again

Vegas, regrets and a NSV
miss_smiles replied to MarieLouise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had surgery on 3/28. When i first got out of surgery I had an extremely bad reaction to the anesthesia.. I was hyperventilating, crying hysterically, and wishing that I never made the decision to get surgery. I'm 5 months post-op as of yesterday & 60 pounds down - 35 to goal.. trust me the pain and suffering you are going through now is all worth it in the end - not only for being able to fit into that smaller bath robe, bur for your health. keep up the good work, try to stay positive and don't give up! Your journey to a better life has just begun! -

5 or 10 Day Pouch Reset
miss_smiles replied to miss_smiles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mean the sleeve, some call it a pouch on google but you get the point! Essentially just a stomach reset lol -
I have NO idea what is going on today, I cant remember the last time i had chocolate and I just ate about 10 Hershey's kisses and 3 miniature Mr. Goodbars. Worst part is I don't even feel guilty about it. Anyone ever have one of these days? Its been 4 months post op. Ill get back on track right?! yikes.
