    Average weight loss

I think you are doing great. I average about 10-12 pounds a month with the first month after surgery being a bit more. I am just shy of 6 months out and the 10 pounds a month seems to be consistent. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Regretting

Give yourself the time you need to heal. Before you know it the crappy part will be a distant memory. It gets so much better! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. So I know the topic of hair loss has come up a lot on this forum but I never really paid attention because I thought no way will that happen to me! Well at almost 3 months post-op it's happening. I'm getting several handfuls a day. Don't get me wrong I will wear a wig happily if I have to but for those with experience with this I want to know if anyone has actually lost all their hair or gone patchy? Nightmares

I had very weird dreams after surgery for about a week. So strange. They then subsided. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    So Excited!

Congratulations and good luck! I am 2 months out of surgery and starting to feel it is the best thing I've ever done. The first month was tough, a lot of self doubt and wondering if I made the right choice. Just remember to keep your head up and your eye on the prize. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I will be 3 weeks post-op on Wednesday. My scale hasn't budged in a week and a half. In the first week and a half after surgery I lost 13lbs. I have heard of the 3 week stall but this was only after a week and a half. I am following everything I need to. I meet my protein requirements most days, get all my reccomended vitamins, plenty of water, and I'm walking every day. Has this happened to anyone else. I'm feeling very down and wondering if this is going to work for me.

    Scale Won't Budge!

Thank you all so much for the advice and encouragement. I will do my best to give my scale a break.

    Post-op Insomnia anyone?

Yep. Same thing happened to me. I would say it went on for a week. Once I got out walking and back to work normal sleep returned. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I am in my 2 week liquid stage. My nut reccomended drinking 2-4 cups of water a day during this stage. I have been drinking more like 3 litres a day. I feel thirsty all the time and water goes down just like it did before surgery. Does anyone know if there is a such thing as drinking too much water during this stage? Could I be harming my pouch?
  11. No worries. You will be through the hard part before you know it. I remember feeling the same. I had my surgery April 13 and I feel great. I remember feeling how you did. Give it a few more days and then every day after that you should feel so much better! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post up emotions

My surgery was the same day. I am having the same mood swings. I can literally go from the happiest person in the world to the biggest bitch in less than a second. My husband is an amazingly supportive, patient man but even he has blown up on me once. I think the emotions are normal. Our bodies have been through a lot. I'm sure it will level out in the coming weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any advice or encouragement!

I am going to head out tomorrow to see if I can find isopure. I've heard a lot about it on here. I'm from Canada and every time I get an awesome suggestion we don't have it. Or I have to pay double on Amazon.ca! Going to make a list and go protein hunting! Thanks for the tip!

    Any advice or encouragement!

My surgery was April 13 as well! You're the first I've found with the same date. I can't relate with the diarrhea but I do know they make lactose free protein powder! I'm having a hard time meeting my protein as well because all the shakes I've tried are awful to get in. So sick of milky things.
  17. Does anyone know if it's ok to continue the optifast after surgery? I'm having a really hard time finding a protein powder I can stomach and I didn't mind the optifast. I have a whole case left. What are your thoughts?
  18. Thanks everyone. After I posted this I really read the nut facts and was shocked at the amount of carbs/sugar. I've decided I will only use it on days when I absolutely can't stomach anything else. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Recovery Time After RNY

I had my surgery on April 13 and will be returning to work on April 20. So I will have been out exactly a week. I did have the remainder of this week off but I can't stand sitting around. I have a low stress desk job. I feel like I could have suffered through a work day today but am glad I still have today and tomorrow. I guess it depends on how your body recovers. After surgery must haves...

I'm 5 days post op. No appetite at all. I'd suggest of course Protein powder (make sure you try it before), a few cream soups, and crystal light. The Soup is nice especially if you were on the pre op diet where everything is sweet. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I had myself all worked up too. I had prepared myself for the worst. Reading is great, awesome to hear everyone's stories but of course the ones that stick with you are the bad ones. I am 3 days post op and although it's not easy I am finding it not nearly as bad as I anticipated.
  22. Oh absolutely. Like you I know what I want and I know I will be happy in the end. However since I started my liquid diet on March 23, I have been very emotional about the whole thing. I find myself thinking of my favourite foods and being very sad, almost like you said, going through a break up with them. At this point I feel like I have been on the liquid diet forever, and that I will continue to be on it forever. It's hard to remember that we will get to eat again some day. In my weak moments I have also wondered to myself if food is actually more important to me than this surgery, and the chance at a new life. Wondering if surgery is right for me or if I'm destined to fail. I'm always wondering in the back of my mind if I can really do this. But heck yes I can! When I feel that way I like to read through the success stories on these boards, knowing that most of these people have had the exact feelings I have had and are thriving today. That being said I am incredibly nervous for my surgery on Wednesday. Even now those thoughts creep up. But we will crush this.
  23. I am just finishing up day 4 of a very looooooong 3 week liquid diet of Optifast. I am finding it not too bad as far as not eating goes. I would say it is only mildly uncomfortable. I managed to sit through turkey dinner with my family, sipping my shake, with only mild jealousy. That being said, the last 2 days I have been having some unbelievable mood swings. Think a major case of PMS. I honestly don't know if my poor sweet husband will last those 3 weeks. To those who have been on the liquid diet, did you experience mood swings, and did they ever subside?

Day 4 of 3 Week Liquid Diet

My surgery is April 13. You are getting close! Good luck!
  25. So today would have ended day 7 of my 3 week liquid only diet. My surgery date is April 13. I had been really impressing myself and didn't cheat once until now. Other than a constant headache and being overly moody I had been ok. Well Tonight I made love to a couple pieces of pizza. I felt so incredibly shameful from the moment the thought entered my head. I was surprised to find out that the pizza didn't even taste good (I ate it anyway) and that all my cravings had been for nothing. I know I won't cheat again. I know I will be able to take down the last 2 weeks like a boss. But I still feel terrible. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be telling my surgeon this happened?
