Try the powdered boost the chocolate is the best. Just add a scoop to 2% milk and it is just like drinking chocolate milk it doesnt have as much protien as the Protein Shakes but it will get you through.

Scared to start solid foods?
Journeyseeker replied to Dawn200321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do not fret about starting solids everything will be fine. I will be honest and admit i did start solids a few days early I was actually suposed to start this coming thursday. Just know most of the time it will seem as though you can still eat just like you use to just try not to over do it. -
Anyone been overweight their ENTIRE life?
Journeyseeker replied to Kellysue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been overweight my entire life I joke and say the only time i havent been overweight was when I was born seeing as I was a premie loll. I am just starting on my banded life so we shall see. -
All compression wraps will do is to help get rid of any extra fluid build up. I have lymphedema (which is swelling due to a damaged lymphatic systemand can happen anywhere in the body) in my right leg and wear compression stockings but at night I also wrap. The compression may help a little but unless you wear them long term won't be a fix to the issue.

So one of my first NSV a small one but still good. Yesterday My sister and I went to the movies for the first time since being banded. Well all other times I would have to raise up one of the arm rests to sit comfortably. Well yesterday I walked in didnt touch the arm rest and sat my butt right down and kept both down the entire movie and was comfortable. I was super excited about that.

Post-Op Itchies!
Journeyseeker replied to twinklefeather's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ah I started itching about 10 days after surgery the sites all 5 of them got the red circle around them not infected but was an alergic reaction to the internal suturers. I got some Vitamin e oil and rubbed it around the sites not on the cut part itself. it has helped a lot. -
Congrats on the up coming surgery, my twin sis is also having hers tomorrow 11/10... She is on here bandedtwin is her id if you want to reach out since yall have the band day.

I know this is kinda off topic but in a slim degree it is related to being banded. I have been wanting to go back to college and have recently i had started the process of going back. Well tomorrow I am suposed go take the placement test and i am scared to death. When I went to my psyc eval The guy asked me if i have any other big things that will be happening this year and I told him that besides the band that I had a job promotion but that i wouldnt be starting that till after I return from medical leave, and then of course there was the school thing. Well he told me " dont be suprised if the school thing doesnt happen. because you dont want to get too much on your plate". I think him saying that has caused me to doubt myself and the choice to go back to school. i know that i am going to be taking on a lot between work, the band and school but i dont think i would be over doing it. i am not planing to take a full course load just one or two classes a semester. I can not help but be scared.

I have only been banded since 10/27/11 and yes have only lost 9 pounds so far. What you heard is incorrect there are many people on here that have lost 100 pounds in a year and probably more than that. It is a slower process they want us to lose 1-2 #s per week. t also depends on how much you have to lose depends on how fast you will lose it. -
i second the heating pad I had mine with me all the time. the gas x strips also helped a lot my gas pains lasted maybe 4 days...

Well as of 11/3/2011 I will be one week post-op ive gotta say it hasnt been too bad. I have had very little pain mostly some back pain which i believe was from the gas. I was suposed to be on clear liquids all week but i did cheat a little and had a couple bites of chicken yesterday but i chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed I just had to have something. I also started drinking "full" liquids to get more protein in. Since surgery as of today I am down 9 pounds which puts me down a total of 45 since i started my 6 mo supervised diet. I started at 385 pounds and am sitting at 340. I still cant wait to lose more and see where this path takes me. I always joke that i've never been small except when I was newborn lol. My entire childhood I was the over weight child and that just continued on through school and into my adult phase in life. I am praying that things go well for me. I actually can not wait to be able to start back to the gym and really get to working on this. My twin is about to start her 2nd week of the liver shrinking diet she is scheduled for 11/10 we will actually have some time off together which we never get bc of our jobs. I'vs started trying on clothes that I havent a) never been able to wear or b ) havent been able to wear in a while and i am amazed at how things are fitting. well thats my thoughts for today Ill be back tomorrow after my 1 week follow apt.
