Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Sonja. I was banded on January 4th and have lost 44 lbs so far. I've had two fills for a total of 3 ccs. I've had a few problems lately but usually because I eat too fast or bites are too big. I'm looking for a support forum for LapBanders only so I thought I would check this one out!

Yes. They took care of everything with the insurance company. I didn't have to do anything once I provided them with the supervised diet information they submitted everything. Good luck.

I like Dr. Averbach. He has been very supportive and answers all of my questions. I've been pleased with the practice overall. Good luck with your upcoming surgery and feel free to message me with any quetions.

My doctor charges $250 for a fill. They are covered by insurance and the surgeon is a participating provider so has to accept what insurance pays. My copay is $15 and BC/BS pays $137 of the $250. I've had two fills and have restriction after the second. I have an AP Standard band (10 cc) with 3 ccs filled. My doctor doesn't use the lidocaine just the fill needle. I am terribly afraid of needles, but it doesn't hurt even though it is a large needle. I haven't had any issues with the fills.

I take a sip once in awhile, but my doctor says no soda so I stick to tea and water. I was a huge diet pepsi drinker and I really miss it but I was surprised at how easy it was for me to give it up.

Thanks for the reply. I'm in Huntingtown (Calvert County). My surgeon is Dr. Andrew Averbach and I had my surgery at St. Agnes in Baltimore. Good luck on your upcoming surgery.
