Any 7/14's- post op?
Sandy GlueStick replied to reducer623's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved on 7/11. Struggling to get more than 32oz of water in. I'm supposed to be on soft foods phase but my stomach can't tolerate it so I'm doing creamy soups instead. -
Getting sleeved July 12

Mine was July 11th!! -
This will not go over well... I have no two week diet to follow. My Kaiser surgeon wants only a 24 hour clear liquid diet and 3 tbsp milk of magnesia. No restrictions for the week prior at all, except no smoking. So, on Friday and Saturday before my Monday surgery, there is a huge event I'm attending. Husband has already stocked up on all the vodka for us. I will follow the Sunday diet absolutely, but I'm wondering about my drinking alcohol 48 hours prior??? I've read everything they've sent me and nothing says no booze. I will ask Friday at my preop appointment for sure, but I'd like to hear if anyone here had some drinks 2 days before their surgery? Google showed me some patients that had a "last celebratory" drink a couple days before, etc...but had anyone here had their surgeon not give that guideline or restriction? I have an idea of what I might do. Partake on Friday and maybe a bloody mary Saturday morning, then nothing the rest of the day, and of course the Clear liquids Sunday. Thank you for your input.

Alcohol 2 days preop
Sandy GlueStick replied to Sandy GlueStick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, wanted to let you know I appreciated everyone's thoughts on this. I had my preop appointment this morning and asked about partaking in a celebratory drink or 3 this weekend. She said no problem whatsoever, just NOT on SUNDAY. I asked a few times just to be sure. Lol So, I'm here, at the weekend event. Had a cocktail after we unpacked the trailer and set everything up. Tried to have another and just wasn't "feeling it." Will I drink tomorrow? Most likely not. I'm too excited for Monday anyway. But it was interesting to get the all-clear at my preop, and everyone's answers here were also very interesting!!! Thank you! -
CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS

July 11!!! In 3 days!!!! Actually sitting in waiting area for my preop appt right now... -
Hello, did anyone here have to check-in alone? Drive to surgery, check themselves in, wake up, everything else, alone, without someone with them? My husband won't be in town in time and I absolutely don't want to ask any of his family to take me. They would in a heart beat for sure if I asked but I'm the kind of person who hates to inconvenience others. I kind of think I'd be okay being alone? I just wondered if anyone here was alone for surgery experience, or thoughts on not asking anyone to accompany me.

Curious CPAP question for ya'll
Sandy GlueStick posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have been required to use a cpap, I'm wondering... *Does your insurance pay for it? *How much is it if you have to pay out of pocket? *Have you heard any cases where patients suffered from untreated sleep apnea? *I know this is a pre-op forum, but do you know anyone who has had the sleeve surgery and didn't use their cpap in recovery after all? *I can't think of anything else right now so I'm leaving this one blank for future questions! Ha. Thanks! (I'm asking for purely curious reasons, because I'm a crazy researching googling kind of person.) Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App -
Congratulations!!! And I'm sneaking in ice chips somehow when I have my sleeve! Haha. Apparently only allowed moist gauze on a stick. So glad to hear you had a great day! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Curious CPAP question for ya'll
Sandy GlueStick replied to Sandy GlueStick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My paranoia has subsided since I first made this post. But here is my theory... I agree about the dangers of sleep apnea, but I have this suspicion about all the CPAP makers. They are seeing a great decline in sales, due to the miracle of WLS causing patients or future patients not needing them anymore. So they (big pharma?) have made a deal with Doctors to keep mandating their use, testing, etc, for as long as possible, so as not to jeopardize their industry. I'm not usually a tin hat foil wearer kind of gal, but for 6 months I've been looking into this! Off and on, not like a full time job or anything. Lol. Our Kaiser folks mandate it, but the actual surgeon, contracted through Scripps said No, we don't need any kind of sleep study. No, you won't need to bring in your CPAP machine for surgery date. I'm probably not coming across as eloquently as I'd like to believe I am. Phone typing isn't as nice to me as keyboard typing usually is! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App -
June - July sleevers?
Sandy GlueStick replied to betterme38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be interested, but I need to join it if it's a "secret group," I think. People can see what the group is if it's Closed. Or maybe name it something that doesn't sound Bariatric-ish...?? Not sure if that makes sense? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App -

Please don't give up. those pea size bites add up, and you will get to where it is not a chore. Have you tried canned chicken or else slow cooker chicken breasts? for me they are more tender and easily handled, especially in the early days.My doctor won't even let me touch chicken for the first 6 months, and white breast meat not until a full year! He said it gets stuck and sometimes they have to scope it out. I'm already sad! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this! You're throwing up all the time? What does the surgeon say about this? Is there something they can prescribe short term or is it the liquids not agreeing with you?? I haven't had the surgery yet so I'm definitely all ears and listening to your story. I truly hope that everything gets better for you and you are okay soon! I made a mistake!
Sandy GlueStick replied to julet_licelot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe I won't grouse about my 6 months of Options classes anymore. They have pounded into our brains ad nauseum regarding "no popcorn, no seeds, no blah blah blah, no yadda yadda yadda!" Been thinking it's been overkill but if you've only seemed to receive a list of approved foods, and not much else? Then I'll try to appreciate my boring classes a whole lot more! Good luck to you and let us know the outcome! So to speak... Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
