Concerned about back pain 11 days post op
KristenLe replied to csalt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd be concerned about a blood clot. Isn't there a surgeon on-call? @@csalt I don't mean to scare you but the risk of blood clots with this surgery is too high to take any chances with pain like you describe. -
Hello I'm new here..
KristenLe replied to Ronnie 01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plan has us start vitamins immediately post-op. Hang in there. -
Late night head hunger
KristenLe replied to betterme38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my bad time too. It's completely habit. I have sf popsicles too - more than 4 ???? (pre-op still). In the colder months - I'll probably have sugar free cocoa or broth. I have attempted to distract myself but don't have much luck. It's an obsession. For months prior to my pre-op therapy - I had celery and sour cream dip. I changed over to sf popsicles. -
No support, Traveling to Mexico, alone...
KristenLe replied to Marie1120's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think she's probably scared. Life is about to change and that's scary. She's also worried about you. Why are you going to Mexico? Do you not qualify to have surgery here? I have no issues with Mexico - I just wonder if part of her concern is that she doesn't think you need surgery. Please be sure you are aware of all the changes that you will need to make. If it's right for you - talk to your friend. If she still can't support you - my guess is that you will not remain friends. Weight loss surgery can effect many relationships. -
@@Dk370 Have you had blood work to check for any deficiencies?

Day 8 post-op, strange symptoms
KristenLe replied to piemonade's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@piemonade I would call your surgeon. At this stage - it's best to be overly cautious. Please let us know how you are doing. -
Can you call your surgeon to see what they recommend? You need to be sure and take care of yourself. Let us know how you're doing.

Is it a long stall or am I finished losing?
KristenLe replied to Shrinking_Violet's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think you just answered your question. Protein & Water are key. -
That may be more the hormones from weight loss than the Depo. Your hormones are all wacky after surgery. That is what would concern me though - some on Depo bleed alot and combined with the hormones after WLS - it could be worse.
-
It is very rare to get pregnant on Depo unless they did not get it at the right intervals (or got pregnant before it would be effective). I don't know about impacting weight loss (I don't think it will have a big impact) but have you considered an IUD instead? The thing about Depo is - it's in your system for 90 days whether you have issues or not (you can't stop it or remove it like other forms of bc).

Racing heart and dizzy at times
KristenLe replied to Megall9's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like it could be severe dehydration. You may need a drink with electrolytes and/or sodium during these events when it's so hot. Do you check your blood sugar? It could be that too - especially if you aren't eating regularly these times. Hope they figure it out - sounds extremely scary! -
May 24 Surgery Day
KristenLe replied to LoveMyBypass's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Wow - that doesn't seem right. Carbs are one thing but never heard of a plan restricting dairy for 6 months. -
Are you exercising alot - or did you before urinalysis? Are you diabetic? Dehydration may be the cause of the protein in your urine too.
-
I don't think you should be having Motrin with surgery so close. Usually you're not allowed NSAIDS for at least the week before. Check with your surgeon.
-
@@Della2002 Caffeine is a diuretic so especially during the immediate post-op stage - it's important to limit or cut out caffeine so you don't become dehydrated. Caffeine can also cause ulcers and some say interferes with calcium absorption. Talk to your nutritionist about what they recommend.
-
@@Tssiemer1 Maybe going back to full liquids would help. I'm not allowed celery for sometime due to the stringiness of it. Stick with soft foods - you will not feel better until you get enough protein and fluids. Hopefully your Psychiatrist can help. Good luck.

No - he's right. In the world of electronic health records and health information exchange - very little remains truly "private". Also - in my State - if you are licensed by the Department of Behavioral Health - we are required to report data on all people treated for substance abuse or mental illness (including social security numbers). This all goes into a database that whoever runs data for the State can access. There are no names but as far as I'm concerned ss# is worse.

7/26/16 VSG Surgery, Anyone else?
KristenLe replied to blueeyedgirlvsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking anything for stomach acid? Just try and keep sipping. Try different temps - some can tolerate room temp or warm better - some need ice cold. Stay strong! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -
7/26/16 VSG Surgery, Anyone else?
KristenLe replied to blueeyedgirlvsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You aren't eating too much! At this point, don't worry about restricting calories - too few could hurt your metabolism long term. Soup will go through your sleeve quickly - so you won't feel much restriction. Stay on plan and you'll do great! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -
5 weeks out. What are you eating
KristenLe replied to saphfyre14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How about cottage cheese, hummus, refried Beans or beans ( make it with cheese and sour cream or cream cheese), ricotta bake, make a buffalo chicken dip to eat like the ricotta bake, homemade Soup (I'm not a fan of canned soups), egg salad, chicken salad (add avocado or dill relish), scrambled eggs with cheese, string cheese, egg muffins... Experiment and have fun! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -

This sounds like what happens with that diet pill Orlistat. I would ask younger surgeon about it. Why can't you have yogurt or cream soups? Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App You definitely need to increase fluids! -

Major (Re-) lifestyle change
KristenLe replied to reducer623's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You should be able to get protein through beans, eggs, cheese, etc. Vegan would be a little more difficult.
