Let's talk about GERD....
KristenLe replied to hdsjourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeve surgery is not recommended for anyone with a history of GERD. -
What do you eat daily? Have you followed up with your surgeon?

Question about blood pressure
KristenLe replied to biglady904's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@biglady904 Be sure to hydrate today. Avoid sodium and take your BP again later. If still high, I'd call your Dr. Let me know how you are doing. -
Question about blood pressure
KristenLe replied to biglady904's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you getting enough fluids? You may want to call your Dr (whoever prescribed blood pressure meds) and see what they recommend. What's the top #? -

Feeling weak - 5 months post op
KristenLe replied to LMSWNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could be anemic. Are you taking Iron? I would talk to your Gyn Dr about your period. That's a lot of bleeding. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -
4 Days Post Op...Hurting a lot
KristenLe replied to slc3568's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, I was shocked that I was discharged this soon. I'm trying to sip but it's really hard. It feels like my liquid is having a hard time going down and once it hits my stomach, I feel sick. I hope this is normal. As you know - I'm pre-op so not been in your shoes. It seems you were discharged fast though. Have you tried drinking things at different temps? Try some warm tea or broth? Hope you feel better soon! -
Trouble Swallowing
KristenLe replied to Sassy-Anne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may need more time to heal. Try something like cottage cheese, hummus, etc. or stay with liquids for a little while longer until more swelling has gone down. -
Do you have a blood pressure cuff that you can check your BP when this happens? It could be low BP, dehydration or low potassium but I'd think your surgeon's office would look into it more than just assuming it's lack of protein and water. Even if that's what it was - it's concerning and they should be seeing you.

Your PCP must have someone covering.

Pre-op diet sabotage...
KristenLe replied to theantichick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@theantichick I haven't been to Taco Bueno but I assume they have some menu items that you could eat without guilt. Use this as your first test - you may find you enjoy a healthier option and feel great about being able to resist temptation. Good luck! -
My surgery was Aug 1st
KristenLe replied to Tonya2B Fit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is probably stomach acid that you think is hunger. Try taking a PPI and if you weren't prescribed one - ask for one. The noises are normal - it's not hunger noises. You will not feel full - your stomach has a lot of healing to do. Keep drinking! Once you are cleared for purees - stick with the amount in your guidelines from your surgeon. You don't want to be full. Hang in there. -
Anyone with lipidema or lymphedema? Questions...
KristenLe replied to duckydoom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"@@Inner Surfer Girl" may have some info for you. -
Congrats Lulu_lulu! It's common for your period to be messed up after surgery. It's because of the hormones being released as you lose weight. A shower should not be an issue with incisions - you just shouldn't submerge in a bath or pool.

@@Hiraeth Get some fluids with electrolytes. Move as much as you can - even if you just rock back and forth. Hopefully you'll feel better soon.

Just started liquid only
KristenLe replied to austinsboysmom@yahoo.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on your plan but doubtful - especially the milkshake. What does your diet say? You can often have a protein shake which you could mix with ice and pretend it's a milk shake. Did they give you a list of things you can have? -
4 Days Post Op...Hurting a lot
KristenLe replied to slc3568's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Hiraeth Were you discharged already? You have to find a way to get in fluids or you will quickly become dehydrated. Hope you feel better soon! -

You've lost 50 lbs in 5 months - that's pretty good! Be proud of your success so far! In terms of being stalled... What are you eating? Are you getting enough fluids? Are you getting enough protein?

@@SusieQ63 Smoking will delay healing. Throw away the cigarettes! Remember all the things you want to do once you lose weight! You can get through this difficult few weeks and you'll feel so much better. Hormones are out of whack right now - you don't have food to turn to. Find a distraction - go for a walk, get a pedicure, get out and enjoy the sun and fresh air! You can do this! Stay strong!!!

If this is the dress - you need to find a sexy pair of silver sandals like in the ad. Have fun!!!

What can happen if I cheated on post op diet?
KristenLe replied to Little Bee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You could get a piece of meat stuck in a staple line causing a massive infection and possible leak. You could vomit and cause a complication. Your surgery was done properly - it doesn't stop you from eating - that's your brain. I'm sorry if this is not what you want to hear but it's extremely dangerous to eat off plan - especially a few days post-op. -
Prednisone and weight gain Pre Op

@@busybeebug I just came off of a medrol pack on Tuesday. Yesterday I got a stomach bug? and have lost 5 lbs in 2 days. I don't recommend this solution. ????. Have you tried lemon water or tea - something to act as a diuretic? Could you taper off the prednisone sooner? Hope all goes well! -

Why can't you drink anything? Have you talked to your surgeon? This is dangerously low protein and fluids.
