Sleeve revision to Duodenum Switch Aug 1st
KristenLe replied to Slim2016's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
@@Slim2016 I would strictly follow your surgeon's instructions. You had major surgery and there's guidelines for a reason. -
@@marypups I can't find the one I saw but there were alot of options. Here's one that looks good. http://thebigmansworld.com/2015/10/28/four-ingredient-flourless-protein-brownies/

My story of screwing up. Support? Ideas?
KristenLe replied to Hopefully A Butterfly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you so much. I admit to being a little afraid to come into this place and admit how much I screwed up, but I'm overwhelmed at the kindness people have shown. We all know how easy it is to slip up (better than screw up). You will get alot out of therapy. Stay strong - you can do this! You've already lost so much weight and should be proud! -
What do you see in the mirror after losing a substantial amount of weight?

I am post op i had my surgery on 6/29
KristenLe replied to Urgurllizc09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Urgurllizc09 Chewing and spitting out food is a very danger habit to get into. It's another form of an eating disorder. Please find a good therapist. -
Am I doing the right thing?!
KristenLe replied to kerryberry16's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@@kerryberry16 I have similar stats as you. I went through counseling to deal with emotional eating and I think it was helpful (I'll know post-op i guess). I can't do this on my own - and I need to do something! My health just gets worse. I really think therapy will help you. Good luck. -

Has anyone gone to Mexico, Tijuana to get the gastric balloon?

Strictness on previous diet
KristenLe replied to kitkattulsa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cut out all sodas (diet too) and sugary drinks! Start a high Protein low carb diet. My nutritionist suggests 50% protein 50% produce at each meal. Eat slowly without distractions (no mindless eating). Cut back on (or completely) Pasta, bread, rice, Cookies, candy, etc. Find out what your insurance requirements are - some require a supervised weight loss program prior to surgery. Also - as most of us have eating disorders of some sort (emotional eating) - get a handle on your issues - with the help of a therapist if necessary. It's important to have your head ready before surgery- as that can often be the biggest challenge. Good luck! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -

Dairy allergy....how to get protein?
KristenLe replied to Dk370's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How far out are you and at what food stage? There should be alternatives you can have. There's protein drinks like Isopure or Unjury. You can add protein powder to foods. There's bone broth, etc. Have you talked to your Nutritionist about what you can eat? -
Are you having alot of artificial sweeteners? I find that to be an issue for me.

Kidney disease and gastric surgery
KristenLe replied to joanne1122's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The other issue with kidney disease is the high Protein diet. Someone recently posted that they have stage 3 kidney disease and since surgery their numbers have improved. If I can find post I'll link it for you. -

PreOp Diet Hunger Help
KristenLe replied to AMS3188's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@AMS3188 Try sugar free popsicles! For distractions - paint your nails, go thru clothes and get rid of anything you don't want, see what you have and in what sizes, take a bubble bath, take a nap, go for a walk, go buy some skin care for post op pampering, etc. Stay strong - you've got this!!! -
@@plates If I remember from seeing your original post - you had Mac n cheese. The fat in that could also cause problems. You can't eat off plan or you may end up with complications - some could be life threatening. I don't know why you thought eating anything 3 days post-op was wise - never mind Mac n cheese which isn't allowed on most plans until maintenance if then. Yes - it's too late to get your stomach back. Get your head in the game before it's too late.
