  1. @@higher Try marinating chicken in coke zero, salt, pepper, olive oil and loads of garlic. Yum! Best grilled after at least 24hrs marinating.
  2. @@ReneeOD This was one of the most entertaining posts I've seen! You really had me laughing and I'd love to read your novels (if I didn't already)! I don't know much about the brain/gut connection but I think you will do fine. Good luck on your journey!

    APPROVED!

    Woohoo! Congrats!
  4. @@solea78 I'm pre-op but I have heard many say that your sleeve never goes away - you just need to get back to basics. Maybe try the 5 day pouch reset diet. I also suggest swimming for exercise. Congrats on your loss so far!
  5. You may still have swelling but talk to your Dr to make sure nothing else is going on.
  6. @@Sweetfindz Eating too little can be as bad as eating too much. Please take care of yourself!

    Lap band removal ER

@@Green1 You need to call your surgeon. If you feel like you need to go to ER - then please go.
  8. I've never heard that. Obesity and comorbities can certainly cause kidney disease. Talk to your surgeon but I don't think this is a concern.

    Sleeve soon!

Are you getting protein and vitamins? How much water are you drinking? It's normal to be exhausted but be sure you are getting protein, fluids and vitamins! Walk and move around as much as possible to prevent blood clots, stimulate healing and get rid of pain (and help you poop). Stay strong!!!

    PreOp Diet Hunger Help

@@AMS3188 You should be on your way!!! Best of luck!!!
  11. @ It's so important to research and I commend you for that. I'm pre-op and have been preparing for about 6 months. I encourage therapy to deal with any eating"issues" so you have all the tools available post-op. I've read many stories on here and other places and would say the majority of people don't have a miserable recovery. It's not easy but if you follow your surgeon's instructions you have a better chance of not having complications. Ask your surgeon about post-op complication rates. Go to some support groups and talk to those who have been through it. With a BMI close to 40 - your chance of having significant health problems is much greater than the risk of surgery complications. Good luck on your journey!

Do you take it before bed? Maybe changing when you take it will help.

    Haaaangry really hangry

I agree. I hope you have post-op visits scheduled? Usually you see your surgeon at a week post-op and I believe again at 2 weeks. They may allow you to have purees sooner.

    Haaaangry really hangry

You sound hangry! ????. Some plans transition sooner than that. Why don't you call and speak to the nurse or nutritionist to see what they say. It's so your body has time to heal - it's not about losing weight necessarily.
  15. @@chycky I would not worry about getting too much protein unless you have kidney disease. It's great you're doing as well as you are. Your plan sounds similar to mine and that's to ensure you get a least a minimum of 60 (with shakes).
  16. @@essenav Does your Dr require one? Mine doesn't - only clear liquids day before. I'm at a 52 BMI so don't panic. Many Drs don't require a preop diet. You can stay on liquids now and I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck.

    Nauseous

Are you taking a PPI for stomach acid? If not - I wonder if that would help. Hope you feel better - nausea is horrible.

    Pissing off my boss

@@Kyn13 I'd be very surprised if your boss had any say in whether you lost your job. Usually they don't have that much power in a hospital setting. Go to HR and ask for unpaid medical leave. Don't fall prey to a bitchy boss on a power trip!
  19. Holy crap - 3 weeks??? Great job! You look beautiful!
  20. Talk about whatever you need to - they're there to help you! Get the can opener sharpened! ????
  21. You can certainly exercise too much. It's easy to go from one extreme to the other. Be aware and maybe talk to a therapist about your fears. In my opinion, most people who don't lose weight after WLS have not eaten properly (didn't use their tool) and not that they didn't exercise. Yes - exercise is important but don't get carried away.

    My surgery was Aug 1st

Are you drinking Protein shakes? liquids or foods like you are eating go through your sleeve quickly. You should definitely stick to portion size(1-2ozs) because your stomach is still swollen and healing and the nerves aren't able to tell you you're full. You don't want to get full and possibly sick. Many plans are full liquids for at least the 1st week because it's so important to get your fluids. I would concentrate on Protein Shakes and liquids for now.

    Two days post op

You need to drink more. Just sip constantly. Dehydration can happen quickly and could land you back in the hospital. Try broth, sugar free popsicles, sugar free non carbonated drinks. Good luck.
