There's Protein drinks that are like water rather than shake consistency. You can also add Protein powder to broth or any liquid.

It's a form of an eating disorder. It's a very dangerous habit to get into. It also starts your stomach juices for digestion and can cause issues.

  11. @@4u2nvyme I am pre-op but people recommend eating with baby utensils and putting them down in between bites. I'm a night eater by habit (not out of hunger) - I've been having sugar free popsicles which seem to help.

    Vicious Cycle

@@northstar9148 I would think that you should drink 4-5 Protein shakes per day for Meal Replacement. Just be careful not to eat around those shakes - or you'll definitely be getting too many calories. Why don't you try replacing 2 meals to start out with and see if that's better? I just think a full fast (meal replacement shakes only) will be challenging. Do you have anyone who can help you?

    A little lost... help?

@@smg She was sleeved in Mexico and doesn't have a NUT or surgeon to go to. @@GACaldwell I agree that some therapy may be helpful. I found it very helpful (pre-op). Try contacting your local hospital to see if they have a Bariatric Support Group. You may find some support there - even though you had your surgery in Mexico. If it helps - my plan suggests eating 5-6 small meals per day (every 3 hours). Protein first - but suggests produce as well (no seeds or nuts for 6 weeks) - no Pasta, bread, rice, etc. long-term (like forever! lol). At 3 weeks we are supposed to be eating 1-2 ozs of purees (over 20 minutes) - wait 30 minutes and then drink 2-4 ozs of a protein liquid over the next hour. The ozs increase to 3-4 ozs at week 4 I believe. You should not feel bad or guilty about how often you are eating if you stick to a schedule (don't graze). Stay off the scale for now. Your body is healing and adjusting. You've done well with losing 14 lbs so far - just keep getting protein, fluids and Vitamins - and it will continue to come off. Look into a therapist with experience with bariatric patients - I truly believe we all could benefit from a good therapist. Good luck.

    Pre-op fears

@M Ashley You should speak to the anesthesiologist about your reaction. Things have come a long way since you had your previous surgeries but hopefully they can do whatever is necessary to reduce any reactions.
  19. @@SoCalGal77 First of all, sorry you are going through this. I would definitely find a Primary Care Provider who follows you for general care. They will probably want to refer you to a GI doctor to have them run some tests to see what might be going on (endoscopy, etc.) - find out what the situation is with your sleeve before considering further bariatric surgery. Best of luck! Hope they can help you!

@@suzzzzz I believe they order it as an alternative to an endoscopy. They took several "pictures" of my esophagus, stomach and duodenum. I'm assuming it is to make sure there's no issues prior to surgery (stricture, tumor, ulcers, reflux, etc.).

@@klouisa64 I didn't have an easy time losing weight during this time but I didn't gain. It really depends on your insurance - many won't approve if there's a gain but others will. Good luck.
