@@Joy@boman It sounds like dehydration but I'd call your surgeon and talk to them about your symptoms.

I just came from my 1 week post-op appointment. All is good. Down to 266 lbs (on Drs scale). I was able to start mushy food today and enjoyed a little bowl of scrambled eggs for breakfast. After 3 weeks of liquids - the eggs were exceptional! We went grocery shopping after the Drs and just walking through the store wiped me out. Going to try some refried Beans in a little bit. I am doing great with fluids - not so great with Protein. Ordering some GENEPRO to help with meeting protein goals. Hope all the October Sleevers are doing well!

Elevated liver functions no after surgery
KristenLe replied to Catcarter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you still taking pain meds or Tylenol? Any other meds like lipitor? It's possible it's just a normal reaction post-op. I think it could also be from not getting enough protein. Hope it resolves soon. -
Any October 2016 Sleevers?
KristenLe replied to bkskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can not judge weight loss this soon out. You are still dealing with the fluids and swelling from surgery. Don't be disappointed - .we typically gain after surgery. I was done on the 18th and only weighed because had my follow up appointment with the surgeon. I'm not even counting this weight. Be sure you are getting at least 64ozs of fluid and work on getting enough protein if you aren't already. Stick with the plan. Be sure the shakes are low sugar and high protein. Good luck! -

KristenLe replied to laura1116's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@ppressey24 Try drinking different temps. Hot tea went down easier for me at first. I can now take normal sips (one week post-op). I stood up while drinking and moved around alot. Stay strong! -
Having a bad day!
KristenLe replied to jtellechea001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to stay hydrated at least or you'll be back in the hospital. Try something other than water - hot tea, iced tea, Powerade Zero, sf popsicles, sf jello, Vitamin Water Zero, G2, crystal light, etc. I wouldn't worry about eating right now. Dehydration is dangerous though so drink as much as you can. Stay strong! -
One week/1 day post -op
KristenLe replied to mfoxworthy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@mfoxworthy I'm sorry you're having difficulties. It is completely normal. Your hormones are all out of whack and contributing to the depression. Hopefully your pain improves soon. Stay hydrated - that's most important right now. It's definitely not the easy way out! Stay strong! I finally had mushy food today and it tasted so good. It'll all be worth it! -
Get some pickle popsicles. :-)http://bobspicklepops.com/

Vegetables Post-op?
KristenLe replied to elizabethirenex3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not allowed anything other than mushy for 6 weeks but you could probably try cauliflower, carrots, peppers (remove skin) as long as cooked well. I'd do one at a time. -
Yes. Some surgeons will require a weight loss pre-op but there's no reason you couldn't decide on bypass.

It depends alot on what your insurance requirements are. After my consult, I had a psych eval, nutrition assessment and 3 months of therapy and nutrition counseling. I already had sleep apnea or I would have needed a sleep study. After approval, I had an upper GI series, blood work and a pre-op assessment with surgeon. My surgery was scheduled a month later. Do you know what your insurance requires?

@@melliecat I was sleeved a week ago and just allowed mushy food today. I have had scrambled eggs with cheese (very scrambled and apple sauce consistency) and refried black beans with melted cheese and a little sour cream. I also bought greek yogurt (low sugar), broccoli soup (Panera) that I'll blend so no chunks, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese (for ricotta bake), and butternut squash. I only ate very small amounts of eggs and beans but they tasted damn good and were tolerated. I bought Centrum Chewable Multi-Vitamin in Berry flavor that weren't bad (hated the smell of the orange ones). I have been drinking Powerade Zero, Iced Tea (Decaf), Hot tea, water, Vitamin Water Zero. I've had a hard time with protein shakes. I just ordered unflavored protein powder to add to food or drinks.

I weighed 282 day liquid diet started. On my scale - I weighed 272 day of surgery but 279 day I came home from hospital. :-) I'll make room for you!

Attending a wedding @ 6 weeks out
KristenLe replied to bostonmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may have felt back to normal but your insides were far from it. You are an adult and can do what you want but please don't encourage others to do the same. Drinking alcohol this early out is extremely dangerous. You may feel fine but you have no idea what type of damage you could have done. -
That's usual for my Program but I feel like I'm doing well. No pain at all - haven't taken any pain meds. Cleared to drive! :-)

I am taking most pills whole at 1 week post-op. Hope it helps.

Nobody Thinks I Need Weight Loss Surgery
KristenLe replied to Tierra T Tij's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Your BMI is high enough to qualify for surgery. Losing weight and keeping it off is extremely difficult. I encourage you to explain the health complications that come along with morbid obesity. If you weigh 280 - you have more than 100 lbs to lose. That's not exactly "not needing surgery". -
What were your worst symptoms post-op?
KristenLe replied to KaiserKid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Jdserra Same for me! The nausea was no joke! Ask for the patch behind your ear! -
Not usually. They're loaded with sugars/carbs.
-
I believe you can take Melatonin or Benadryl. I have had no problems sleeping (probably sleeping too much!).
-
@@Joy@boman I had surgery last week and had to stay an extra day because of nausea. Ask for the anti-nausea patch they put behind your ear. That seemed to help me. Also - I didn't take my pain meds by day 3 because I thought they may have been making me more nauseous. Hope you feel better soon!

Temptations everywhere ...

I am surrounded by food that my boyfriend eats too. I'm happy to cook for him but if he brought food to my hospital room - I would have kicked his ass! That's just completely insensitive. -

KristenLe replied to KaiserKid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best thing you can do is follow pre-op and post-op instructions. I thought I was prepared for just about anything and the nausea post-op knocked me on my ass. -
Carry a water bottle with you at all times and just keep sipping. Try a few different things - tea, Powerade Zero, SF popsicles, etc. Set a timer if necessary.
