    Breakfast

Yes - protein shakes are meal replacement shakes on the idea of slimfast. You need to make sure low sugar (or no sugar) and high protein. Good luck!
  2. @@pinkpeanuts I was not being condescending - I apologize if that's what you thought. I was being concerned. Many others have posted not understanding that this surgery would prevent you from overeating. It's as much mental as it is physical. I encourage you to read this book - it might help. Good luck with your journey! https://www.amazon.com/Emotional-First-Aid-Kit-Practical-ebook/dp/B0054RXXS0?ie=UTF8&btkr=1&redirect=true&ref_=dp-kindle-redirect
  3. What is ppi?? I can and I will. Definitely acid reflux - horrific taste! A PPI is an acid reducer. You should ask for one if not already on it. Cucumbers at 12 could have done it. I used to get it hours after I ate - usually when I was sleeping on my stomach. Zantac before bed helped.

    Breakfast

@@Ruby81 Try posting in the post op forum - you may get more replies. Also - if you're in the UK - things seem to be very different with post-op diets. Many of us here in the States aren't "allowed" fruit. Our diets focus a lot on protein and I believe that's not the case there. There's also a UK forum. Congrats on your surgery!

    Day 7

Slimfast is not a good option- too much sugar - not enough protein. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App Slim fast has a 20gram protein 2 gram sugar shake out now. I have a few of them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App What are they called?
  6. At this point, I regret Gina's surgery!!! Will it never end???!!!

    Pre-op sleeve newbie

If you are diabetic - they may suggest getting Gastric bypass instead of the sleeve. I don't know how they expect you to lose 100lbs on your own but there's a forum by weight loss (ie. 200+ lbs) that maybe has some info to help. Good luck!
  9. That's unusual. Maybe it's pending info from Dr. Sometimes they require additional documentation.

    Very beginning

@@Djmohr Your post made me cry! I'm sorry you had to go through that with your Mom.
  11. Unfortunately - you can always eat around your sleeve and if emotional eating is that much of an issue for you now - I'd be very concerned at your emotional health and physical health after surgery. You still need to change behaviors - eat healthy and mindfully. The surgery is only a tool - you still need to do the work. Please really think seriously about this!
  12. [emoji22] You'll need to increase fluids - and avoid sodium. Keep an eye your BP too.

Clothing Sizes: What do they even mean anymore?!?!?

@@OutsideMatchInside I haven't considered a size goal (yet). I don't remember ever being under a size 12 and I feel like I've been in the same sizes with a 50 lb range. I usually buy a 26/28 or 3X Top - but I've noticed many tops those sizes are running bigger lately (all from the same store) and had to get a 22/24 or 2X. I can wear a size 22-26 pants (no noticeable difference in fit) - all from the same store (Lane Bryant). I wear a 22 Short in a particular pair of Levi's I love - and a 24 Regular is extremely tight (same style). I never try anything on before I buy it which I guess I'll have to start doing once I start losing.

    congestion after eating

    oh man - allergic to cheese - I don't know what I'd do! :-(
  18. Well - one definition of opinion is a "view or judgement of something, not necessarily based on fact." So I stand by my original statement and rather than attacking them for their opinion (judgement) - try and help them to understand the other side.

    C Difficile

@@GinaCampbell I'm surprised to hear that you're just being tested for C Diff. I thought a few weeks ago you mentioned that this is what they suspected and planned to admit you. I would have thought you were told to take precautions back then. Boy - you just can't catch a break!
  20. To be fair...I don't think @@Pinkberry2 was being harsh. She simply can't imagine going through WLS at a low BMI. We all have a right to our opinions. Rather than attacking back - help those who feel that way to understand better. Obviously, you are judging others as much (suggesting there's no reason anyone should be 600lbs). Different opinions don't equal dissension.

    Chew and Spit

@@pdallariva Stay strong! I read this book and found it helpful as I prepare for surgery. Might be worth reading. https://www.amazon.com/Emotional-First-Aid-Kit-Practical-ebook/dp/B0054RXXS0?ie=UTF8&btkr=1&redirect=true&ref_=dp-kindle-redirect
  25. It wasn't long ago that I thought the same thing. Not to do with laziness or effort at all - just because it seems so drastic for only having to lose 50 lbs or less (and concern they'd lose too much). I've changed my mind(mostly). I still have concerns some are doing it for the wrong reasons and may go too far in the other direction (but that can be the case with higher BMI patients too). But I get it - I wasn't always obese. I weighed 145 in highschool (a weight I'd kill to be now) and thought I was a fatty! As I continued to gain every year regardless of what I did - I'd lose a little (ie. while on Phen Fen (dangerous)) but gain it all back (and a few more). I tried everything to lose without success and unfortunately waited until I was morbidly obese with several health problems to decide on surgery. I could have lived a very different life had I gotten surgery at 200 lbs. Although I still don't know if I'd go through surgery with a BMI lower than 30 and no comorbities (or PCOS) but that's just me. Hopefully anyone going through a major surgery understands what they're getting into.
