3 days post op troubles
KristenLe replied to Miss.Bunny447's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only 3 daya and ur eating eggs and drinking protein shakes? Thats may be why. I was only allowed clear liquids (water and gerbers fruit splashers), then it was 10 days of full liquids, then puree for two weeks, then soft foods for two weeks (ie eggs, cheese, bananas).... u should just be concetrating on sipping water and liquid.. listen to ur body, the eggs may be way too much for u.. taking it down to just clear liquids may help. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App Not all plans are the same. We drink protein shakes while in the hospital and purees starting day 8. Protein is critical to healing and my program feels it's better to have shakes immediately. -
Who asked you "Did you have weight loss surgery?"
KristenLe replied to Cape Crooner's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@OutsideMatchInside I think it's more nosey than curious. I have "dieted" at work but never lost any noticeable weight. I work in social services/healthcare with 95% women - maybe that's got something to do with it. You are lucky not having to deal with coworkers. I'd much rather work with dogs! ???? -
@@bellabeans Eat all that you are allowed - this isn't the time to worry about quantity. Drink lots of fluids! Good luck!

Hello Out There August 2016 Sleevers!
KristenLe replied to Sc7272's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
"@@Lee Mag" Canned soups have alot of sodium so you may be retaining fluids. -
Never too late! You aren't even 6 months out - you just need a little push to get back on track. In terms of Water - find something else to drink (crystal light, decaffeinated tea, Powerade Zero, infused water, flavored water, Vitamin Water Zero, etc). Find a good Protein drink that you like- you'll get fluids and protein at once. There's vitamin Patches that you should consider- it's critical that you get Vitamins. Your hormones are messed up. Dehydration can make you feel horrible but also emotionally miserable. Maybe some therapy would help - or a support group?? You can do this! Stay strong! Oh - and Congrats on your weight loss!

Pending Insurance Approval....
KristenLe replied to ChocolateDropp7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are lucky! I'm sure your health isn't any worse than the rest of us - you qualified surgery and your insurance approved. My approval was fast too - it's the rest that's been dreadfully slow. Congrats! -
Who asked you "Did you have weight loss surgery?"
KristenLe replied to Cape Crooner's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have not told anyone other than my SO, mother and sister. I will though - including people at work. I've worked there for 20 years and it will be quite obvious when I'm dropping weight quickly (hopefully it's quick anyway) that a diet didn't all of a sudden work. I honestly don't give 2 shits about what anyone has to say about it. -
@@RosieR Your emotions and mental health are as much of a part of this journey as the surgery. If he thinks you could benefit from therapy - I wouldn't argue. You will need all the tools available to you after surgery.

Can't Get Protein In
KristenLe replied to Jellybean55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At that stage - my plan has me still drinking protein shakes. You won't necessarily be hungry - but it's important to eat/drink. Set a timer if you need a reminder. Stay strong! -
What did you read to get your head/heart in the game?
KristenLe replied to Unbridled's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This book was good. https://www.amazon.com/Emotional-First-Aid-Kit-Practical-ebook/dp/B0054RXXS0?ie=UTF8&btkr=1&redirect=true&ref_=dp-kindle-redirect -
Are you on any BP meds? They may need adjusting. Although - I haven't had surgery yet and this heat is killing me. I'm exhausted.
-
@@ssteiny It's important to stick to the plan. Small pieces of foods can get stuck in your incision or staples and cause significant and possibly life threatening complications. It's not worth it. Stay Strong!

Surgery in September....Encouragement!
KristenLe replied to roni56's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@roni56 Assuming you are getting surgery because you are morbidly obese or obese with comorbities - the chance of dying prematurely from obesity related disease is much greater than mortality rates from surgery. You're doing this so you will have many healthy years with your little girl! Good luck! -
@@Jesm1029 As said - it's bad! It's a form of an eating disorder. https://www.amazon.com/Emotional-First-Aid-Kit-Practical-ebook/dp/B0054RXXS0?ie=UTF8&btkr=1&redirect=true&ref_=dp-kindle-redirect

Yeah - that's not enough calories (or close to enough). I'm assuming you can't be getting all of your protein either at only 200 calories. You are starving. You need to increase what you are eating.

@@Thecloude1 Congrats - your results are amazing! Have a great time at Blake Shelton!!! -
@@bellabeans I'm still pre-op but what are you allowed on your pre-op diet?
-
@@Hiraeth This is one possibility... If you are losing weight rapidly due to a drastic drop in food and/or calorie intake, your body will naturally slow down its metabolism in order to conserve energy. It goes into kind of a hibernation mode. Your body thinks you are “starving” and holds onto every last calorie.
