    I am OVER it today.

It's early - your stomach had nerves severed. It will take time before the full feeling will return and you actually should be aiming for satisfied not full. Be sure to get all your fluids and Protein - take a PPI to help with stomach acid. This will work for you - be patient. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    New here.

Thank you. I have sleep apnea and I had a heart attack 16 years ago with a irregular heart beat. Plus I'm 5'1" at 130lbs. Sent from my GT-P3113 using the BariatricPal App You weigh 130lbs? I don't think you will qualify for surgery and don't think it would be safe to have bypass. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    Beyond Aggravated

Why did they deny your titration study? If you tested positive for sleep apnea - you need a titration before getting the CPAP. That doesn't make any sense. Where did you have sleep study done? Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

Tomorrow is my surgery :) :(

@@frozengrapes It may not be an easy road but you will be so much healthier! Stay strong!
  5. You could use this opportunity of her staying with you to discuss stories of people on the forum that may resonate with her. I think if my Mom mentioned fertility issues being resolved with WLS to me at that age or how unlikely it is to keep weight off even if I lost it on my own - I would have been more apt to listen without giving her my middle finger behind her back. Tell her about the woman on BP who waited too long to have WLS that her PCOS and associated obesity prevented her from having children (me). If she just started a new job - she probably can't get time off for surgery anytime soon but maybe she can start looking into it.

    Worried about my aunt.

@@Hiraeth She's younger than me! I was picturing her older - that's scary she already has CHF. Hope all goes well!
  7. @@Crystal Ann Keister Are you taking a PPI? The rumbling may be stomach acid. Are you able to have sugar free popsicles or Jello? They might help you to feel like you're eating something. What else are you able to have in this stage ??? - soup broth - you could make your own which will taste better and be more satisfying - add spices, etc. - skim milk - V8 juice / tomato juice - tea Just continually sip throughout the day. You can do this - it's only a short time out of your life and think about the benefits!

    Worried about my aunt.

@@Hiraeth WLS is often recommended for people with congestive heart failure. The important thing will be for the Bariatrician and Cardiologist to work together at ensuring her heart disease is managed and it is safe for her to have surgery. There are certainly more risks involved - but honestly - she's at risk every day at that weight. She will obviously need cardiac clearance.
  9. @@AZCristi Prior to being diagnosed with Celiac disease my niece had the worst smelling gas. You may want to talk to your surgeon or a GI Dr - it could be an allergy. Good luck.

My Big Fat Fabulous Life 2016 Season

It's a scripted reality show - and about as "real" as Kim K's ass! This isn't about body shaming or body image - this is about a serious health problem that will eventually kill her. People are profiting from this! I think it hurts those of us who are obese and actually want to help ourselves! It's insulting!
  12. @@Monet08 Drink lots of water or non-caloric drinks! No soda - diet or regular. Protein and produce . No carbs. It's not easy for me to lose weight - so adjust as needed. Good luck!

    PA Highmark, BCBS....advise/help!

@@cls5186 I could never get an answer from BCBS of RI about the requirements. After several weeks, they told me to ask the surgeon's office. ????. Your PCP might be able to find out specifics. Highmark does have some stuff online though. The 6 month supervised diet must be supervised and monitored by a physician but working in cooperation with dietician. My Bariatric Program has a NUT on staff so it was the surgeon who supervised it.

    Fall from grace :(

@@nprcowboy First of all - you should not worry about disappointing anyone! This is a difficult journey and no one is perfect! I'm sorry you've had such a rough time emotionally. Maybe a different medication would help your mental health while not causing weight gain. There's so many different meds and combinations. In the meantime, hopefully you are in therapy to deal with your depression and emotional state. In terms of weight loss and your sleeve - it's still there - and will be ready to help you. Try going back to basics - cut out Pasta, bread, rice, sweets, soda, etc. Once you detox from carbs - you'll feel much better all around. High Protein, low carbs - focusing on protein first. Try adding a little exercise - release those endorphins. Stay strong - you can do this!!!
  15. @@vamping Be sure to talk to your surgeon about flying this soon after surgery - they may want to give you blood thinners.
  16. I hope you were kidding. Chubby feet aren't cause for gasping, fainting or vomiting! :-)

    Swimwear

@@higher I would look at Lane Bryant. They should have some on sale at this time of year. Sometimes you can get 2 separate pieces so you'd be able to have different sizes on top and bottom (if necessary). I also got some nice bathing suits on clearance at Target this year (not sure if they still have any). I do much better with the tankini style because I'm bigger on top than on bottom. Plus - it's much easier to pee!
  19. Just had about 10 vials of blood drawn for pre-op! One step closer...

Here's the bad news.......those 10 to 13 vials of blood.....that is what they pull from you after 3,6,12,18 and then every 12 months after. I just had them done and my insurance denied paying for it. 3K!!!!! Of course I am fighting them on this but I was shocked to see how much having these labs costs.

Best of luck on getting your date! I hope it is soon for you! Congratulations!

    Psych eval

@@duckydoom Let the psychologist help you to deal with issues that you once turned to food for comfort. I've never been to therapy before now and I was glad I went. This WLS journey is more mental than physical - it is important to have all the tools available to you post-op.
  21. @@thatmeanone Would it make a difference to him to know that driving with untreated sleep apnea is just as bad (if not worse) than driving under the influence? If he doesn't care about himself - he should at least care enough not to want to injure or possibly kill someone else from nodding off while driving (which is extremely common as you know). I can't imagine how difficult it is to see this happening to your son and not being able to convince them to get medical care. You're both in my prayers...
  22. @@juneau My plan suggests 5-6 small meals - 3 hours in between. They emphasized how important it was to eat shortly after getting up to kick start your metabolism. At 4 weeks I'm supposed to eat 4-5 small amounts of purees but then drink protein shakes in between as my fluid.

Worried about gas pains after surgery

It's not really gas in your intestines that's the biggest issue. They put gas into your abdomen during surgery for more room and better visual of the organs. Walking and moving helps the most.
