    Question from a Non-cook

Try cooking together - experiment with different recipes that you can both enjoy. Take a cooking class together. You can eat together - just different portion sizes and you may skip a side dish that he has (ie. rice). If he has pasta and meat sauce - you have the meat sauce and maybe a side of veggies. It'll be a while before you are eating"normal foods" though so you won't be eating the same for a while. You have time to figure out what works. If you get takeout from a restaurant (rather than fast food) - you can order protein and veggies. You will have a few meals from one dinner. It'll work out!

    My Gastric Bypass Story!

Be sure to walk several times a day - even if it's just around the house - you don't want to get a blood clot.

    September 2016 Sleevers!

There's alot of encouraging stories - but it seems people who are miserable are more vocal. ????. Just remember - your hormones are wacky after surgery and what might seem like a huge mistake 5 days post-op will be the best thing you have done a few weeks later.

    Solid foods 1 month out

Those can be a bit dry and heavy. Start off with something with more moisture. Take very small bites (use baby utensils). You can also stick with purees if you're not ready. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    Trying to quit smoking?

My program requires you to be nicotine free for 2 months. They test you on day of surgery and will cancel if positive for nicotene. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    My weight loss

Are you tracking your food/drink? Are you getting enough Protein? Have you increased carbs or calories from liquor or drinks (soda, juice, etc)? You have to look at what you are eating and drinking? Schedule an appointment with your nutritionist to see if there's something you can do to kick start the loss again! You've done great to lose 85+ lbs in a little more than 5 months. It's just time to shake this stall up. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    TRANSFORMATION PIX

It's easier to find on computer but look under the forum for your surgery and success stories. There's usually a pinned post with before and after pics. HUNGRY!

Sounds like head hunger. I found this book helpful to understand the emotional aspect of WLS. https://www.amazon.com/s?rh=n%3A133140011%2Ck%3AThe+Emotional+First+Aid+Kit%3A+A+Practical+Guide+to+Life+After+Bariatric+Surgery%5Cc+Second+Edition&keywords=The+Emotional+First+Aid+Kit%3A+A+Practical+Guide+to+Life+After+Bariatric+Surgery%2C+Second+Edition&ie=UTF8 Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    Not losing :(

You're expecting too much! At 3 weeks out - you're still swollen, healing and have just been through major surgery. 15 lbs is a good loss at this point! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    My gp's opinion

As said - you can get around either tool and regain weight. If you want the sleeve - then go ahead with that choice.

    So Anxious...

@@perfectdayelise Someone went thru this last week or so and the approval came in shortly after her post. Maybe that'll do the trick! I would not hesitate to call your insurance and explain that surgery is only in a few days and you are hoping for approval soon. There's no reason for them to take this long.

    Weight

Because you are losing Water weight (not fat). But why don't you lose that water weight when eating healthy (Protein and veggies)? I gained a few lbs back after that may have been water but I am still losing (when I wasn't beforehand).

    HUNGRY!

@@Capricorn86 This is not a good habit to get into. It's actually a form of an eating disorder. Not only that but it triggers your stomach to start digestion and your stomach acids to kick in -- causing stomach problems or GERD. In addition, your saliva already starts to break down the sugars before you spit it out. It's dangerous and not at all healthy. Please be careful - stick with your plan. Additional stomach acid can mimic hunger pains so be sure to take a PPI as prescribed. You may also be dealing with head hunger. Stay strong!

    Final pre-op requirement done!

@ Were you previously denied? I can't imagine you will have difficulty getting approved. I was nervous and there was no need to be. I called the week after it was submitted and the insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office said "oh yeah - that was approved right away". I suggest you check back in with them in the next couple of days to make sure it got submitted and to find out a status. Don't hesitate to call insurance and ask them too. Fingers crossed!

    WLS Failure?

@@KaiserKid This really isn't about restricting calories and as @@Inner Surfer Girl said - you can't really fail at a month out. What this person may not be saying is that their 600-700 calories are in the form of ice cream, smoothies, Pasta, fried foods, etc. , Not all calories are created equal. It would be near impossible to not lose some weight after WLS if you stick with the plan - eating Protein and drinking non-caloric drinks.

    Body Pump

@@Candygyrl I'm exhausted just reading about it! LOL Try it - and be sure to let us know how you make out! Remember - increase Protein and fluids if you are working out a lot.
  23. @@Suziesue1706 That doesn't seem like enough Protein - but I'm pre-op so maybe I'll be winging it at that point as well. Up until 6 weeks - my plan suggests to have Protein shakes to supplement - until you can eat more and get enough protein (which should be at least 60-80 gms). You definitely need to increase your Water intake too (or any non-caloric drink). I can use my protein shakes as fluids during this stage. I would ask your NUT for more guidance - that's why they should be offering anyway. Hang in there!

Nervous to go under the knife AGAIN

@@smellslikecoffee I thought about not telling my parents too - but they live so close - it would be impossible to keep it a secret. I also didn't feel right having surgery without them knowing - for the same reason as you. You don't need to decide that yet.

    What to eat

@@russtee Try something new every day. Just take it slow. You're going to have cravings - especially if you're getting bored with what you are eating. There's so many different things that you can eat at this stage - don't deprive yourself of good healthy foods.
