How to alleviate shoulder, back etc pain
KristenLe replied to charlie24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@charlie24 I wonder if it's low potassium or something like that. Try drinking something with electrolytes and have potassium rich foods. Be sure to stay hydrated too. -
@@limase63 Please call your Dr. to be sure it's to be expected.

Water retention - you need to be sure you're getting enough Protein and non caloric drinks. If you're not eating enough - you will not lose weight and your body holds on to everything.

Stretching stomach in the beginning
KristenLe replied to tenseintexas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can eat it - but slowly and chew well. I'd start on 1-2ozs to make sure you don't get too full. -
Stretching stomach in the beginning
KristenLe replied to tenseintexas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was given a guideline to go by. Measure so you don't over eat. You can't stretch your stomach but I would be very cautious - you are not fully healed. 3 weeks is early for meat. -
Don't give up! You don't need to flirt or have a pick up line! Just relax - talk to people like they're a friend - and see what develops. Have a friend introduce you to a woman. No need to be someone else other than the true you!

No, really, I can assure you I am not pregnant!
KristenLe replied to Anna Nim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was waiting with my SO in an OR prep area (he was having a cataract surgery) and overhead (I'm nosey) the staff freaking out because a 14 year old girl coming in for an operation had a + pregnancy test and they were going to have to cancel surgery (and break the news to her and her Mom)! I felt so bad for her and her Mom. -
Everyone's losing weight faster than me
KristenLe replied to asweet_sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@leeka Lowering calories isn't always the right answer. Focus on protein, water (non caloric drinks) and vitamins. Avoid carbs except veggies and fruit. -
I don't know how much longer I can do this... But no choice
KristenLe replied to kelbelle29's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@kelbelle29 I hope the therapy helps your food addiction and emotional well-being. I also encourage you to find another Dr (In Network) and address any health/medical issues. You can't get a do-over - so make the most of your surgery and use it to gain your health back! The surgery was only a tool - and you have to do the work. Hopefully you can get your food addiction under control soon! -
Need advice... Surgery 9/19
KristenLe replied to Spectra13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Spectra13 Find a good therapist to work with you on any eating issues. I was impressed at how helpful my therapy was and hopefully it will give me another tool in my WLS Toolbox. -
Pre Op feeling of FAILURE
KristenLe replied to krissyleigh's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@krissyleigh Only 5% of people who lose weight on their own keep it off! The odds are against us! I'm sure you've had PCOS that caused weight problems and it's extremely difficult to lose weight even when eating healthy. You are treating a disease - nothing about that says failure! -

Abby - you are an inspiration to so many of us! Keep your head up and stay happy and strong! I honestly don't know what type of asshole could say that to anyone - clearly he's not worth your time or energy! -
@@kimberb Many of us are treated for anxiety and depression - as long as they feel you are stable - you should be all set!

Having a sleeve vs. old school dieting?
KristenLe replied to stefanie0804's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@stefanie0804 It's helpful to get some therapy to deal with emotional eating issues before surgery. This can also help to determine if you're ready for WLS or if you want to try on your own. Once I heard only 5% of people who lose on their own keep it off - surgery was a no brainier for me. -
That's a qualifying BMI isn't it @@kimberb?

Made the bmi but now.....
KristenLe replied to kimberb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@kimberb I don't see why this would stop you from qualifying for surgery. They will need to know you are stable and being treated. -

It's most likely from all of the hormones - your fat releases hormones as you lose weight.

We aren't given calories to go by - only protein and fluids. Our plan says eat 4-6 times a day (small portions) with 3 hours in between. Be sure to drink plenty too.
