It could be ketosis or some meds can cause this as well. What is lots of water - at least 64ozs?

How much weight do you have to lose? I went to the surgeon with Lapband in mind - he doesn't do them and told me that 50-60% of Banders need a secondary surgery due to complications. I decided on the Sleeve. There are many successful Banders on here though. I have 120+ lbs to lose so sleeve was a better long term option.

gas pains are the struggle [emoji30]
KristenLe replied to marissa_d's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@marissa_d Walking and moving - even as you walk - swing your arms, if you are sitting - rock back and forth, as you drink March in place, raise your arms above your head. Try a heating pad and GasX strips. Drink warm or hot liquids. You just have to move enough to get rid of the gas. These first few days suck and it's normal to regret surgery - it'll get better - I promise! Hang in there! -
Please help...surgery in the morning. Need advise.
KristenLe replied to sweetpea840's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just stick with Clear liquids today. Surgery won't be cancelled if you have diarrhea or even constipation. I would only drink clear liquids though. -

You can't stretch your sleeve with fluids. It's good to drink as much as possible. I'm sure you overdid it just getting out at 3 days post-op. If temp goes up - call your surgeon. Just rest and plenty of fluids. -

Call your surgeon. It could be normal but no one can really say. -
Nothing tastes or sounds appetizing
KristenLe replied to CaSteph's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's no need to move forward to mushy foods. Stay with protein shakes until you're ready. I couldn't gag down protein shakes another day so moving to puree was a pleasure. Take your time. -
Are you on a PPI or anti-nausea med? Have you tried broth or hot tea? Add unflavored Protein to broth. Dehydration will make you nauseous. Try to get in fluids now and hold off on food. Your hormones are playing a role in how you feel emotionally. Hang in there.

No it's not normal. You need to get checked. You could be extremely anemic or have a bleeding disorder. Anemia can lead to a heart attack. Please get medical care asap.

How much weight did you lose 2 weeks out?
KristenLe replied to acm22_'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to be cleared for exercise. Other than walking - you probably shouldn't do anything for at least 4 weeks. -
You can have saggy skin with any weight loss - RNY or sleeve can result in the same loss and same saggy skin. Not everyone with RNY dumps with sweets. You need to change your eating habits with both surgeries. They are just Tools - you still need to do the work! I would not choose a surgery on these issues.

Are you doing you incentive spirometer? Be sure that you're moving your lungs so you don't get pneumonia. If it doesn't get better - call your surgeon. -
All my pre op liquid options
KristenLe replied to McKinneyMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say 8ozs for protein shake but I wouldn't worry if more than that. You can have decaf tea (hot or iced), Powerade Zero, Vitamin Water Zero, sf popsicles... usually any clear non caloric liquids. -
Oh that's not close to enough fluids! You are probably dehydrated - causing your blood pressure to be low and the fainting spells. Get at least 64ozs - even more!

Too few calories can be just as bad than too many. Many "low cal" products have added sugar - which is what you want to stay away from. -
I would just rest until you feel better. I just had egg salad too - I feel fine but couldn't finish even one egg. Alot of people have issues with eggs at first.

Really struggling with pre-op diet
KristenLe replied to anonmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@anonmom You should work on high protein, low carb. Don't worry about not drinking with eating yet. The best thing you can do is get 64-80ozs of non caloric drinks. I didn't measure food pre-op either. I ate plenty of high Protein low carb foods. It's important not to feel like you are starving yourself. Prepare so that you always have something you can eat available. Eat 4-6 times a day - 3 hours in between. Write a list of all the things you want to do once you've lost weight. Review it when you want to cheat. This journey is more mental than physical - it's really important to get eating issues under control before surgery. Once you have carbs - you'll continue to crave them more. Get them out of your system. -
Most of us have had issues in the past. I was honest and approved. It was recommended I see a therapist for emotional eating - which I got a lot out of. If you have a binge eating disorder - it's best to get some help as this surgery is more mental than physical and can easily trigger previous disorders or result in picking up another addiction. It sounds like the person wasn't all that helpful to resolve any issues she felt you had and instead just denied surgery. Go to someone who can help. It's worth it.

2 days post op---trying to get in liquids
KristenLe replied to shaychelle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hot tea, iced tea and Powerade Zero helped me get fluids in. 6ozs in an hour at 3 days post-op is pretty good. I was still in hospital on IVs at that point. -
TMI question, but I'm genuinely curious
KristenLe replied to Carrie P's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes you lose weight and it can be saggy - many get plastic surgery at some point to correct this. Probably not what you wanted to hear. :-) -
I know I know don't weigh. Just curious ...

When I drank them out of plastic cup - a few minutes after finishing - the shake would start to cause the plastic to shed off the cup. It was scary to think what it was doing to my insides. -
It could be the way you are sleeping. It can also be gallbladder or kidney - so be sure to check with your PCP.
