Yes. They weigh you EVERY time possible! Lol.
-
@@blu2020 Sounds like you're doing great!!! Congrats!
-
That makes sense. It's a very personal decision.
-
@@mommaee1 if you understood correctly - that seems like far too much food in one sitting. Do you have a NUT you could speak to?
-
How do you know you don't have a comorbity if you haven't been to a Dr? I would caution against gaining 20 lbs in a month especially if you are not sure of your current health status. As a nurse you should know the importance of preventive care and health screenings. (Sorry - I'll get off the soapbox! Lol)

Only one of my sisters and my SO knew since the beginning of my journey. I told my Mom a few weeks ago. I'm going to tell others once I have a date. I don't think I could get away with not telling people and don't want the stress of keeping it a secret. I am not announcing it on social media but if asked - I will be honest. I really don't care what people think. I suspect most will be supportive. If not - oh well. I'm doing this for me and my health.

In week two and very hungry !
KristenLe replied to ceecee26's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@ceecee26 Are you allowed tuna at this stage? If so - there shouldn't be an issue. Be sure to stay with the recommended amounts. I'm told that you don't often feel full on liquids as they go through the sleeve quickly. Are you taking a PPI? Sometimes stomach acid mimics hunger. -
It's probably from hormones.
-
Could it be vitamins? I can't take certain vitamins. Call about changing your nausea meds - they should order a different one.

You're the 3rd person recently that has gallstones within a month post-op. It seems to me that a gallbladder ultrasound would be automatic pre-op so the gallbladder could be removed at the time of surgery. It doesn't seem possible that a stone could develop that quickly unless there were issues before surgery. It sucks that you may have to have another operation so soon and while you are still healing. Good luck.

For those worried about excess skin...

You look great! This is another reason why I wish I did this younger. I suspect at 48 - my stomach will look horrible but one can hope! ???? -
@@trynaa I would think you are constipated. Did they tell you what you can take for that?
-
@@higher Usually - if the home study comes back positive you need a titration study before getting the CPAP. I don't understand how your insurance denied. They may authorize a home study and then if positive they'll do the other.

Are you constipated?

Crushed Warfarin/Coumadin is Nasty. How do I hide the taste?
KristenLe replied to Nikki Bailey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was going to say the same thing but I am not a medical professional so glad you said it! -
@@OnMyWayCO I'm pre-op and can't really relate at all but it might not be a bad idea to get some counseling (with someone who has Bariatric experience). Have you had recent blood work to make sure you have no vitamin deficiencies (that can often mess with your moods)? I hope you can soon be happy with your tremendous success!!!

@@GettinSlim80 Talk to your surgeon about anti-nausea meds. You shouldn't have to suffer.

Post Surgery Bloodwork - BUN Bld & ALT are above normal range? Is this normal?
KristenLe replied to AmiLou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@AmiLou The ALT can be high if there's any muscle damage. If you are breaking down muscle for Protein (rather than getting enough with food) - this may be the reason for the high numbers. Your BUN can be high from too much protein or dehydration. I would assume that you've had these tests many times - including pre-op. -
@@elliekay From the numbers - it looks like you've lost about 20 lbs in a little over a month (and 40 since HW). That's excellent!!! You absolutely need to meet your Fluid goals - that would probably get things kick started again. Be careful of the low fat and fat free foods too - often times they are loaded with sugars to make them test better. Make sure the carbs you are eating are complex carbs (veggies, fruit) - no Pasta, rice, bread, sweets, etc. Keep an eye on your sodium as well. You've done really well though - so don't get discouraged!!!

Your BMI is the same as mine and I'm having Sleeve!
-
@@momofthree1986 I would not recommend gaining weight to be eligible. Your insurance typically looks for a BMI history of above 40 if there are no co-morbidities. I would go to the Consult and see what the surgeon says. It's possible you have an un-diagnosed condition that would make you qualify (ie. sleep Apnea). It's your insurance that makes the ultimate decision as to whether or not you will be approved.
-
@@mamasia I would ask for clarification as to "WHY" you can't get the Sleeve at your size. There are bigger people who have had the sleeve and been successful.
-
Could I be denied if my BMI goes down?
KristenLe replied to KaiserKid's topic in Insurance & Financing
@@KaiserKid I wouldn't worry - the surgeon wants you to get approved just as much as you do! :-) I assume you have previous medical record documentation of a BMI over 40 too - so if you were to be denied (doubtful) - a peer-to-peer review or an appeal will most likely turn it around. Stay positive!!!
