Day 1 of the Journey
KristenLe replied to glitzandglam's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@glitzandglam Best of luck on your journey!!! Stay strong!!! You've got this! -
I am bouncing off the walls!

@DJ's Nana Congrats!!! I can't wait to get my date - I'm hoping I'll get it next week at my pre-op appointment! -
Low carb not working
KristenLe replied to elvis3734's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@elvis3734 Eliminate the rice. Be sure to get enough fluids (non-caloric drinks) and exercise - even if it's just a brief walk daily. But - 5 lbs is not bad. I have PCOS and 5 lbs doesn't come off very easily. I lost one lb on my first month of supervised diet. -
@@JamieLogical Thank you!!! I'm not quite sure how I remembered who had posted the link but not the link address.

@@momofthree1986 Measure your height - someone on another post just went from not qualifying to qualifying because her she was shorter than she originally thought! :-)
-
@@elliekay You've got to find a way to get that Fluid in - try sugar free popsicles, broth, infused Water, Powerade zero, etc. That will really impact weight loss (although you may still stall every now and again).
-
@@JamieLogical Was it you who had posted a website that you could search for before & after by your body type??
-
There's a website that you can search for before and afters by body type. If I could only remember the name. Lol. I'll try and find it. I think I have the type of belly you describe. I'm pre-op though so can't help with before and after pics.

OMG I can't believe it

Woot woot!!! Great news! Hope it's smooth sailing! -
Done with surgery! Lots of pain :(
KristenLe replied to Maya0417's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe try a heating pad (not directly on skin) and see if that helps. I know others have said the abdominal binder helps - just be sure to use your spirometer frequently as the binder can sometimes restrict you from taking deep breaths and could result in pneumonia. Hope you feel better soon. -
@@mzcotton How long ago did you have WLS? How much did you gain during your pregnancy? You need to eat a balanced diet while breastfeeding. Maybe giving your Bariatric NUT a call to go over a plan???

Questions about after you have the gastric sleeve
KristenLe replied to mindi melissa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's so many factors - age, how long been obese, how many times you've lost and regained, genetics, etc. You can try exercise (strength training), moisturizer, getting enough fluids and Protein, etc to try to minimize loose skin but there's some people that will have it no matter what they do. -

@@Maya0417 What do you mean surgery pain? Have you been walking? -
@@missdeeAus Ask your surgeon about resuming the metformin. You might not need to take it anymore.

@@mommabear2311 My BMI is 52+ and BCBS of RI waived my 6 month supervised diet requirement (of course, no one told me that until I was in my 3rd month). Anyway - although the diet requirement is waived the not needing prior authorization does not make sense to me at all. I would ask that the insurance coordinator at your surgeon's office look into what steps are needed to get prior auth. My plan still required them to submit all of the documentation for authorization - it was just the 6 month supervised diet wasn't required. It is doubtful the surgeon will proceed without a prior authorization. I did find that most of the information I got from the BCBS reps was inaccurate or not complete.
-
@@ppressey24 I'm told that during the pre-op right before surgery they will review current medications and the plan for prior to surgery and after surgery. Not all medications can be crushed so you'll need to make sure to find that out as well.

Pregnancy after surgery.
KristenLe replied to dccarite's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not as though you have to gain alot during a pregnancy. Most healthy woman gain an appropriate amount and lose fairly quickly after childbirth. No reason to think you'd be any different. -
You could change things up a bit and make infused water. Pineapple/Mint, Lime/Strawberry, etc. I think they have cola flavored MiO drops but that sounds a little gross to me.

@@Lema When you consider weight loss % - you're doing great and right on track! Congrats! And PCOS sucks!

You know you lost weight when
KristenLe replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm knock-kneed so couldn't ever do this even as a skinny kid. Lol -
Yes. There's only been one or two people that indicated they couldn't lose before surgery but I think that was because BMI right at 35. I'm much fatter than a 40 BMI so I never had to worry (only benefit of being morbidly obese I think)! Lol

Acid Reflux Question
KristenLe replied to NewAdventure2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@connie6140 The grinding hunger pains might be stomach acid but not reflux. That is common post-op for some time and you should take a PPI for that. The lump is probably from swelling and the hiatal hernia repair. It will probably take a little longer to heal. -
In week two and very hungry !
KristenLe replied to ceecee26's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good idea! Eating food before cleared can cause complications so I wouldn't eat again until the Dr says you can. Good luck!
