I did it! Got sleeved yesterday 9/2!
KristenLe replied to #BirdDog's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@#BirdDog My plan allows for mashed potatoes too. I wouldn't have them too often - but the amount we eat shouldn't impact weight loss (from my perspective anyway). What you made sounds really good! You're right in time for the 3 week stall - so put the scale away and stick with your plan. Congrats on your success so far - 44 lbs is a great loss! -
September 2016 Sleevers!
KristenLe replied to ALittleMe0914's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry about cheating on pre op diet. I did too and I had my bypass yesterday with no problems. As long as you not eating greasy fries all day, don't stress! Sent from my SM-G920F using the BariatricPal App This is not good advice. You may have not had problems - but plenty of people have had their surgeries cancelled (started and sewn back together without having surgery) for not following the liquid diet and not shrinking their liver enough. The purpose of the liquid diet is to put your body in ketosis - burning fat from your liver - any carbs will take you out of ketosis (it doesn't have to be greasy fries). It's important to stick with the pre-op diet as prescribed by your physician (it's really not just a suggestion). -
New protein powder I found
KristenLe replied to LisaMergs's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
@@LisaMergs This is the brand I have to use pre-op. Did you like chocolate? -
Thanks @@Dub ! I need to have that same attitude.

Do you need to loose a certain amount of weight during the pre-op diet
KristenLe replied to joei0005's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have a weight loss requirement. -
Did anyone have Iron deficiency pre-op?
KristenLe replied to marchmellow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@torruluv87 Please be careful - you can have problems taking too much iron supplements a day. -
The WLS Cookbook for Dummies was recommended by our Program too

Bariatric Fusion Meal Replacement Shakes - What flavor?
KristenLe replied to KristenLe's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
@@WLSResources/ClothingExch It appears Cinnamon Bun is a popular flavor - but that sounds sickeningly sweet to me. I think I'm going to stick with the good old chocolate, Vanilla and Cappuccino. Thanks for the info! I have to do 5 shakes and 3 Snacks of broth, sf popsicles or Jello or watermelon. It's going to be a touch 2 weeks but as you said - I'll start to lose weight sooner. :-) -
@@tiff291 I like Powerade Zero (no calorie drink) if you can have that. What kind of Protein shakes did they have you get? I have to do Bariatric fusion and I was wondering what flavors are best. Good luck tomorrow!

FINALLY - I have a surgery date!
KristenLe replied to KristenLe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My BF just asked if Blood Mary's were included in the liquid diet! He's got a lot to learn. -
@@Qwalla Did you get any replies to this question? Have you tried Bariatric fusion Protein powder? If so - what flavor is best?

@@kraek9 I went with the suggestion from my surgeon. After reviewing my medical and social history - he thought the sleeve would be a good option for me. I do not have acid reflux (which can get worse with sleeve) and I don't have diabetes (recommend RNY) and I don't eat many sweets to want the extra benefit (if you call it that) of dumping syndrome. My eating habits were more too much food at meal time (not a binge eater). I was happy with his decision of sleeve - hopefully I'll be happy after the fact.

Depression and Anxiety
KristenLe replied to britt_lewis2011's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@britt_lewis2011 I think many of us have similar problems. I'm on Wellbuterin pre-op. My issue isn't necessarily binge eating but more boredom eating / emotional eating. I went to a therapist for 6 sessions pre-op to deal with that and found them to really help. Continue with the therapist! Stay strong! -
You can nap, read, color, take a walk, catch up on your favorite shows, watch some movies, etc. Unfortunately - I'm really good at being lazy!

Looks like I'm joining the October folks (was hoping for September) - surgery date 10/18/16 (Pre-Op diet 10/4/16). :-) I can't wait - this has felt like a long time coming! I'm looking forward to being on the loser's bench!

I recall a couple of days ago that you said that you had your appointment and that you were hoping to get scheduled. If I hadn't seen something it was on my mind to send you a message asking how it went. Your posts are obvious that you are prepared for this.

2 months out & only lost 15 lbs?
KristenLe replied to Tminus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Tminus It's normal especially when you have less to lose BUT you need to meet your protein and water goals every day or you will continue to have difficulties. -

Try liquids at different temps. -
@@busybeebug What are you needing to add sugar to?

@@eriirosee The only advice I have is to eat / drink all that you are allowed - don't worry about restricting amounts. I think you'll probably be able to have sugar free popsicles too.

@@potahto explain that you aren't able to eat certain foods. If they get offended - so be it. It's better than eating something you shouldn't and risk your health.
