    Psych. Eval.

I have the same diagnosis and am on meds. They are very used to that and typically there aren't any issues. They will want to make sure you are knowledgeable about surgery (before, during and after), support systems you have, eating habits, diet history, etc. Just answer honestly. If anything they'll just recommend some therapy which is a good idea anyway. Good luck.

    I got approval!

    I'm 10/18! Congrats!
  3. You need to learn more at orientation. It's not a diet - both surgeries require a lifestyle change. You can fail or succeed at either. If it were the same as any other diet - insurance wouldn't be paying thousands to have it done.
  4. There's alot of good info on asmbs.org
  5. No - it's different. WW didn't restrict portions or remove hunger hormones. You had to do all the work. We screwed up our metabolism doing diets in the past. Surgery is really the only effective treatment to combat severe obesity and maintain weight loss. Only 5% or less of patients who lose on their own keep the weight off. You need to be mentally ready for surgery but it's not comparable to dieting .

    Got my approval!

    Congrats! That's awesome!

I need advice about my ex-girlfriend.

I don't think she means to be cruel but what she's doing is going to hurt someone - most likely you. Take care of yourself and save YOU!
  8. @@stefanie0804 The sleeve is just a tool. You need to do the work and eat healthy. It should be easier because the surgery removes most of the hunger hormone and quantity is restricted with the smaller stomach. Head hunger and emotional eating issues need to be addressed because surgery won't help with those. I had therapy to help me with emotional eating. I was never a binge eater but therapy can help with that. Most of us have failed other diets too.

I need advice about my ex-girlfriend.

@@Hiraeth Honestly, I don't think she has a clue what she wants or who she is in love with (or if she is in love). I can't see marrying a man if I were a lesbian - that's something that people did 40-50 years ago to hide the fact that they were homosexual. She may love him as a friend - but why get married? I'm not gay so maybe it's just something I don't understand. Why did she wait 2 years to get in touch with you - and right before she gets married??

I need advice about my ex-girlfriend.

@@Hiraeth I'm not sure that you are being "used" but it certainly doesn't seem like a good situation and I would not get back into a relationship with her. I would ask her to stop sending you suggestive texts or leading you on. If she can do that to the person she's engaged to be married to in less than 2 months - then she's not looking for a committed relationship and you shouldn't trust her (either should her fiance). She needs to get her shit together emotionally and decide what she wants to do with her life. You are young - find someone who knows what they want and is respectful and trustworthy! If you want to pursue something with her - just have your eyes wide open and realize that you may get hurt again. I encourage you to talk to someone about maybe broaching the subject of your sexuality with your Mom (if that's something you'd be safe doing). It can't be easy hiding who you really are. Good luck!

    5 hour Energy

I don't recommend taking that either. Are you taking regular vitamins? Try caffeine in other products (tea, crystal light). Although - it's normal to be fatigued.

    Help getting back on track

@@meginsf Go back to basics! Try one of the "reset" diets (5 day pouch reset) and start from where you did post-op. Your sleeve is still there - waiting for you to use it again. Congrats on your babies!!!

    Hi, just sleeved!

You need to ask your Team about what you can/can't have. On my plan - yogurt would not be allowed at only 4 days post-op. Protein shakes and Clear liquids only. Everyone's plan is different though - so check to see what you are allowed.
  15. You can take Vitamins, biotin, use special shampoo and see if it helps with regrowth. There's very little if anything you can do to prevent loss though.
  16. I think dumping happens with different foods for many. I am not Bypass but was told to keep sugars under 5gms per serving. I believe there's some good pancake recipes that would have less sugar (high protein cottage cheese pancakes, good morning pancakes from eggface). The sugars in the flapjacked ones may not cause dumping but could trigger additional sugar cravings. Let us know if you try them.
  17. This could be part of the problem. Increasing fluids will help this. You can also try taking benefiber (but increase water) or add Fiber through foods (veggies) to your diet to see if it improves. I don't think there's anything medically wrong with you - you are losing weight (8% in 2 months - that's not bad at all).

    inspiration

Last year as I was griping to myself about sitting in traffic - a Ride 2 Recovery Bike Ride drove past. 100's of disabled vets riding adapted bicycles. It was overwhelming to watch and I sat there and cried. Here I was bitching about the inconvenience of traffic.

    Hair Loss with DS

There's not much you can do to prevent it - if it's going to happen - it's going to happen. Meet protein goals, take Vitamins but keep in mind you may still experience hair loss.
  20. @@Tminus Most are given goals of 60-80 protein and 64 ozs of water (non caloric drinks). If exercising - those goals should be even higher. I'd try to increase some and see how you do but you are a low BMI so losing will be slower.

    Pretty surgery diet

@@roostersrm To make my Soups I usually blend (food processor) onion, carrots, celery (and sometimes other veggies depending on what Soup I'm making) and saute with a little butter, add salt, pepper, garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, minced onion, and paprika (whatever spices you like). I then add boxed/canned broth (chicken, beef, vegetable) and simmer for quite a while (adding more spices if necessary). Usually there's no chunks but you could strain it if there were. You could also make an onion soup and strain it for the broth.
  24. Are you eating the recommended portion sizes? Are you meeting your Protein and Water goals? As said above - stalls are very common and if you are sticking with your post-op plan then don't worry.
