Did anyone have Iron deficiency pre-op?
KristenLe replied to marchmellow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's awful!!! I'm sure that was very hard! I'm glad to hear that you finally got your surgery though! I was very worried that would happen to me until I saw my NUT yesterday. She said that they won't postpone it if I'm iron deficient. I said are you sure? She said she's positive. So I feel better about it now. Still kind of nervous though! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I agree with @wheels121604. I would not go by what your NUT said. Speak to the surgeon. Mine was clear that bleeding can be an issue with low iron and bleeding can cause additional complications (heart attack) so they are very careful about this. Hope all goes well. -
It's not intestinal gas. It's the gas used to expand your abdomen during surgery so they have more room to operate. It usually only goes away with walking or moving. It's usually in your chest cavity and often goes to your shoulders. Walk, walk, walk...

I did it! Got sleeved yesterday 9/2!
KristenLe replied to #BirdDog's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's very common - it's the 3 week stall! Your body is adjusting! Stick with the plan and you will lose weight! Stay off the scales for now. As long as you are meeting you Protein and Water goals you will lose! -

People that not happy for you
KristenLe replied to shaylady08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I'm a real bitch because at this point in my life I could care less what people say. My circle of friends has gotten smaller as the years go on. If someone has the balls to tell you to "stop being lazy" - they aren't a real friend. I'm sure my family and friends will be concerned about me - I'm having major surgery. I was nervous for my SO having cataract surgery - that's a normal reaction of loved ones. But being hurtful and rude isn't. Just tell them to stop being ignorant assholes! And Yes - you can die from surgery - you can also die from obesity and that's a much higher percentage! -
I just want it done too. I'm a little nervous but only because I'm having major surgery. I'm ready and excited to be post-op and really starting this journey.

Pushing my surgery date back.... I'm so scared
KristenLe replied to Marie1120's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
@@Marie1120 I'm sorry for your loss! That really has to scare you as you prepare for surgery. Take some time to clear your head and remember why you started this journey. Mortality rate from WLS is less than gallbladder surgery. It's extremely rare and usually is due to underlying complications. Mourn your friend and take your time to decide what's best for you! -
It's very normal to have these feelings! Just remember the goal - we are taking care of ourselves - our health - both emotional and physical health! Stay strong! We've got this!
-
It beats 95% chance of regain without WLS.

Once you go a few days without carbs - the cravings will reduce drastically. Carbs crave carbs. You need to get into ketosis. Try sugar free popsicles flavored for chewing. Hang in there!

The Dr talks to the medical director at the insurance about your case to see if they'll overturn the denial. Ask about it - I know it's worked before.
-
I can imagine. Have your Drs done a peer to peer review with the insurance?
-
Have you had a sleep study? Sleep apnea would qualify you. I would fight! I think they'd deny if you gained weight. Take your height measurement again - we often think we are taller than we are! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

You need to follow their plan! I wouldn't risk it for some veggies. I have to do 5 Protein shakes (bariatric fusion) and 3 Snacks of either broth, sf popsicles, watermelon or sf Jello. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

Layered Mexican in a Mason Jar (Purée)
KristenLe replied to Shell Renewed's topic in Purée (stage 2)
Lol...I am! -
You look beautiful! If you reduced intake and increased activity you may have stopped the loss by putting your body in starvation mode and screwing up your metabolism! You may need to increase calories by eating Protein, veggies, fruit and healthy fats! Be proud you've lost 180+ lbs - that's incredible! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

What stage are you on? There's a lot of good things to try. The Mexican recipe mentioned above looked really good. You could do ricotta bake, ground beef with cheese melted, baked white fish, refried Beans, buffalo chicken dip, egg salad, ham salad, deviled eggs (could add avocado), cottage cheese with hot pepper relish (just check sugar content). Experiment and enjoy!

I told my boss today. Good conversation. I've said before - I have been there 20 years and it will be obvious that I had WLS once I start losing weight all of a sudden since dieting never worked in the past. I really don't want to hide it anyway. I don't care what people say about it. I hate most of the backstabbing, petty bitches I work with anyway! Lol ????????

For the first week I can have protein shakes/drinks and clear liquids (no calorie). I'm going to make broth (more flavor and I'll freeze in small containers), buy broth packets or bouillon cubes, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, powerade zero, Vitamin Water Zero, crystal light, bottled water, a few different protein shakes or powder. Week 2 I start pureed but I hope to feel well enough to go to store for fresh items.

Haven't lost any weight in a week
KristenLe replied to Andre08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your weight right now is not accurate. You are swollen and were pumped with tons of fluids. Stick with your plan - you didn't do this for nothing! Hang in there! -

Looks good! Cheese is allowed - I don't see any cheating happening here! -
4 days post op and I'm worried
KristenLe replied to rhaya sunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Alot of people seem to be on clear liquids only post-op. I don't know how they expect you to do that - they should at least allow shakes so you can get protein. -
Diet after Sleeve (fear of my own sabotage)
KristenLe replied to stefanie0804's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to learn more at orientation. It's not a diet - both surgeries require a lifestyle change. You can fail or succeed at either. If it were the same as any other diet - insurance wouldn't be paying thousands to have it done. That's a joke, my insurance paid nothing for my sleeve. I paid out of pocket. Almost 12k. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App You're missing my point - many insurances cover WLS and if it is the same as any other diet (or Weight Watchers) they would not pay. It's far more successful than a "diet".
