  1. @@mlgok How much Protein are you getting? How about fluids? Are you getting enough calories? You may need to increase protein/fluids - maybe add some healthy fats or veggies/fruits. Change things up a bit - kick yourself out of the stall! You've done so good so far - Congrats!
  2. @@Anabean My plan recommends continuing to supplement shakes at that stage. It's difficult to get in your Protein with the small amount we can eat.

    Conflicting info!

@@debd80 I've been reading this forum for a while and can tell you that anytime someone has this same concern - those that have been successful say that you need more calories from Protein and veggies, healthy fats. I know you said you had conflicting information and all the info you received probably made things worse. I would try increasing protein/calories - make sure you are drinking a lot of non-calorie liquids and see what happens. Let us know.

    Pre op liquid diet

@@Sherbear2 What are you allowed? I start on 10/4/16 and I know it's going to be rough going! I have 5 shakes (Bariatric Fusion) a day and 3 Snacks of either broth, sf popsicles, sf Jello or 1/2 cup watermelon. Just keep thinking of the goal! Good luck!
  5. My Upper GI ruined me for strawberry shakes! That nasty sludge they make you drink has a slight strawberry flavor / smell and now that's all I think of when I drink a strawberry protein shake! :-(

You're going to really love the toxic slug you'll have to drink for your swallowing test post-op.

@Valentina My surgeon doesn't do the leak test unless there are problems! woohoo!!! I gotta say that made my day! I've been dreading that more than anything

    Feeling discouraged

@@katkathryn Stalls are very normal - although very frustrating. Change it up a bit - add more Protein, change your exercise routine, add some healthy fats - something might kick you out of the stall. If you are exercising a lot - you may need to increase your Water and protein. Hang in there!!! You can do this!!!
  7. @@Sherbear2 G2 has less sugars but actually Powerade Zero is better - no sugar and tastes better in my opinion. Gatorade (regular) has loads of sugars and I'd avoid that unless you are mixing with Water to dilute it alot.

    1 month post op.....MISERABLE!

Call the surgeon on-call. This is not something to mess around with. If you can't reach the Dr go to the ER.

    Liver problems

We're you able to get this sorted out right now I have an elevated ALT and Fatty liver I wonder if that won't make me a candidate for surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Many of us have a fatty liver. That's why they usually have people do a pre-op diet. Depending on your situation - they may have you get an ultrasound or further testing. It'll be important for you to stick to pre-op diet. Good luck.

    Pre-op blood work

I don't think those are bad #s. My TSH was higher. Iron lower but not low enough to be abnormal I don't think. I wouldn't worry.

    Weight gain post surgery. Help!

Maybe some sugar free popsicles as a snack, broth, tea, infused water...just always have something available and remember to drink throughout the day. I have a water bottle at work that I drink all day and fill about 4 times. If it's not in front of me I'll forget to drink.

    Hi everyone

You will probably be able to lose weight by changing what you eat and drink. For exercise - maybe swimming would help your back and help you lose. Good luck.

    Making the journey...together

@@rolosmom7 I'm going to be eating very different from my SO. We always have. He eats sweets every night, sometimes a bag of chips, etc. I am not making him or expecting him to change how he eats - I'm the one who is obese and having WLS. It's going to be a little difficult at first but he's very supportive. He plans to quit smoking at the same time - we will see how that goes! ????

    Birth Control

@@luli1690 Yes, that's correct. I had to come off my BC pills. You need to be careful pre-op and especially post-op to use another form of birth as it is very dangerous to get pregnant until at least a year post WLS. Fertility can be increased with weight loss.

    Protein shots?

These have a load of sugar! I would not recommend them for Bariatric patients.
  22. You may have to supplement with shakes, bars or unflavored protein powder added to food/drinks.

    Headache 4months post op

I would call your PCP. It may be just allergies but a headache lasting that long should be checked out. It may be a vitamin deficiency.
  24. You really need to meet your protein and water goals. That will help with healing and weight loss. Congrats on your loss!
