    Examples of pureed/soft foods

@@Armygalbonnie Hummus, cottage cheese, ricotta bake, refried Beans (melted cheese, sour cream), greek yogurt, blended chicken and make a buffalo dip. Some more soft foods - egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, add avocado to any of those to change it up), baked white fish. For the first 6 weeks - my plan says to supplement with Protein shakes or powder because the amount we will be eating will not be enough to meet protein goals.
  2. @@SlimBra I'm glad you called! That's why I don't wait until insurance gets back to me and constantly hound them. Hopefully they'll clear it up this afternoon and all will be good!

    What to tell people?

@@mcmom2016 I would go with hernia repair instead - you never know if you'll need to have your gallbladder removed another time and that's be hard to explain.

    Any October 2016 Sleevers?

I start my pre-op diet (liquids) 10/4/16 - already had to come off my birth control pills for surgery which is causing moodiness - I expect I'll be a raving bitch during the pre-opp diet.
  5. @@LipstickLady @@WLSResources/ClothingExch I honestly don't know how you stick around and deal with this ****! I'm very thankful that you do though!!! I think the people who are the worst are those that tell the OP not to worry that they just ate a fat filled, carb loaded meal two days before surgery because they did too and after all "there surgery went fine" or "you can't just stop eating what you want because the Dr said to". Not that I want anything bad to happen to these people but just once I'd like to see the surgeon cancel their surgeries! The "cheaters" are the first to b***h and moan when something goes wrong or they aren't skinny when they wake up from surgery! I really love the post-op people who "test" their surgery because they think there sleeve/pouch isn't small enough or they expected to dump and didn't so something must be wrong with the surgery. WTF people - do you not know what your insides look like after surgery and that you could die from complications. Okay - I'm done with my rant. I had road rage earlier - my BP was 142/92 at the Drs and now I'm getting BP rage! LOL

    Discouraged

@@happy2bjcox You are losing weight - maybe not as fast as you would like but you are losing. It appears that you started at 280 and now weight 235 - there's absolutely nothing wrong with that rate of loss. If I am 235 lbs 3 months after my surgery I'll be thrilled. Your body needs time to adjust. Starving yourself is not going to help - 550-650 calories a day at 3 months out is very low. You don't mention how much protein you are getting but based on what you indicated you are eating - I would be surprised if you're meeting a protein goal of 60-80 gms. Be careful of sugars/carbs - check to make sure the smoothie and protein bars don't have a high sugar content / high carbs. Someone else mentioned the importance of getting enough sleep - which is absolutely true. As I'm sure you have heard - stalls are normal. I think if you increase your calories with more protein - you'll find you lose faster. Change things up a bit. Stay strong - you can do this!!! 45 lbs are gone - and you won't see them again if you stick with the program!!!
  7. No - it can be an annoyance but it's not anything that would make me reconsider surgery. You could still have gallbladder problems without surgery and removal could be more complicated if obese. I had my gallbladder removed years ago as an emergency but if I hadn't - I wouldn't even consider this as an issue. There's far more complications associated with obesity that concern me alot more.

    HUNGRY:

Be sure you are taking a PPI - stomach acid can often mimic hunger pains. Try adding sf popsicles or jello (if allowed), tea, etc. Hang in there! Eating at this early out could cause significant complications.

    Single and a bit frustrated/anxious

I could never do this! I'd much prefer to do it alone! I guess my antisocial bitch just came out! Lol. I'm not even sure I want my family around when I'm feeling lousy! I'm sending my SO to work so at least I'll have some time alone. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

So Sick of the Liquid Diet

@@pammyjo Stay hydrated and rest! You had major surgery and it's going to take time to heal. You should be aiming for 60-80 gms Protein and at least 64 Oz's Water. Both are critical for healing! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App
  11. Be sure that you're drinking enough but headaches are common for the first few days. Congrats on getting through the 1st day!! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App
  12. If I couldn't get sleeved I'd do bypass! There's not too many differences. Many on this site have had Bypass! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App
  13. It is often true! Rapid weight loss can result in gallstones and needing gallbladder removal. Some have issues at time of surgery and it's removed at that time. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    Approval

Wow - that's right around the corner! Congrats!
  16. Well I have to say this was a bizarre lead in to good news! ????. I'm very sorry for the loss of your grandmother! That's great you are in a size 22! I bet that'll be big soon! To go down 2 sizes in 7 weeks doesn't sound like slow loss to me!
  17. I read this book in preparation and recommend it. Congrats on starting your journey! https://www.amazon.com/Emotional-First-Aid-Kit-Practical-ebook/dp/B0054RXXS0?ie=UTF8&btkr=1&redirect=true&ref_=dp-kindle-redirect
  18. Take your time - no need to rush larger portions.

    Starting to worry

Nothing wrong with that. Fluid goes right through. It's great you're able to get alot in.

    Starting to worry

Please be careful. You could easily cause significant complications some life threatening. Just because you feel like you can eat alot doesn't mean you should. You'll cause a leak or obstruction. Don't test it. I'm sure surgery was done properly. It'll work if you work with it. Follow your plan - including portion sizes - it's dangerous not to.

    I'm a mess!

@@kittykatja85 I'm sorry that you are having a tough time emotionally! Your body is releasing hormones as you burn fat. It's tough on a lot of people regardless of existing depression or anxiety. Write a list of all the wonderful things you want to do when you lose weight and keep your eyes on the prize. Try having some flavored tea instead of coffee (or ask your surgeon if you can have coffee - many allow it). It won't be long before you can be intimate again and I'm told sex will be even better! Try and get your fluids in - that'll make you feel better too! Stay strong!

    Gas Pains

Are you still in the hospital? If not - call your surgeon for advice. Make sure they've given you pain meds, a PPI for acid and an anti-nausea med. Try and get fluids in - take very small sips. Hot tea, warm broth, ice cold water, sugar free popsicles - whatever you can tolerate. Hope you are doing better soon!
  23. KristenLe

    How long after....

It really depends on what other tests need to be done and your surgeon's schedule.
  24. I'm allowed decaf tea that first week.

    Pre op liquid diet

I had to use Bariatric Fusion for pre-op. I haven't started yet but tried a sample today that was good. Have you tried Premier? I just bought caramel flavored for post-op. If you already have shakes - try adding some sugar free flavoring and blend with ice.
