One month out, haven't lost weight in three weeks! (HELP)
KristenLe replied to kcolley12345's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@kcolley12345 You are a much lower BMI than most of us - and the weight loss will be slower. You lost more than 10% of your weight in the first month (regardless that was all in the first week) - that's a great loss! Are you meeting your Protein and Fluid goals? If so - just stay strong and keep doing what you're doing - the weight will come off. You have to keep in mind though that you are at the weight most of us have as our goal weight - so you're not going to drop weight like someone who has 100+ lbs to lose. -
How does the sleeve help you to change habits ?
KristenLe replied to lowbmi65's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@lowbmi65 The Sleeve (or Bypass) is only a Tool - it will help you reduce the quantity of foods you can eat, sometimes you may not like the taste of foods you liked before, and you can sometimes get sick from certain foods - but those last 2 aren't something you can count on. Surgery is more mental than it is physical. If you have any eating habits that need to be resolved - I would consider getting some therapy to deal with them - rather than relying on surgery alone. Many have eaten around their sleeve and didn't have long-term success. -
@@estar7708 I wouldn't take the chance - stay above a 40 BMI - but don't go above your starting weight.

Protein Shake Information
KristenLe replied to northstar9148's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@northstar9148 I wouldn't necessarily go by this article - it was written by a food activist and organic living expert. She's also been criticized for causing controversy to draw people to her blog, website - for financial gain. -
Air in the Stomach from C-Pap
KristenLe replied to Lyle S. Tucker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Lyle S. Tucker Do you have a full facial mask? I only have a nasal mask so I don't think I could possibly swallow air. Have you lost weight on pre-op? Maybe you need an adjustment on your CPAP settings. -
I'm new here - scheduled for Oct 17th

Any October 2016 Sleevers?
KristenLe replied to bkskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Sherbear2 no bananas but you can get sugar free flavorings and add them. DaVinci and Torani are some brands. -
@@Autumn Fury You'll probably need to clarify with your surgeon. For 2 weeks on my pre-op liquid diet - I'm supposed to drink Protein shakes and Clear liquids. 24 hours before - just clear liquids (no protein shakes). Maybe that's your plan as well.

I'm a newbie! Just adding my story....

@@henna2010 As your body burns fat - the hormones stored in that fat are released and causing these symptoms. Things will get better soon!!

@@henna2010 Get out and take a walk or do a little shopping! It's very normal (hormones are out of control). If it goes on for much longer - or gets worse - be sure to talk to your Dr. - you may need some short term anti-depressants. Feel better soon!

KristenLe replied to myree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for the reminder that this is a support group, person with 3 whole posts! I really wasn't sure what this group was until you came along to tell me.Resurrecting an old post to tell others to be supportive - seems like a common theme today. -
Thanks I was thinking about letting some ginger ale go flat? Maybe I'll search that on here and see what I can find.Have you tried some ginger or peppermint tea? That might help.

Feeling annoyed with my bf... need advice
KristenLe replied to krazykristen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take care of yourself! He sounds like a selfish dick - if he comes around and is supportive then great - if not you'll be fine on your own! Best of luck with surgery and recovery! -

Healthy Fats...I'm suspicious of "nonfat"
KristenLe replied to rachelCA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat full fat foods as well (other than milk in my protein shakes). My plan recommends low fat but not fat free. Those are often loaded with sugars, etc to make them somewhat tolerable. I'd rather not eat sour cream again if I had to have fat free. -
Contemplating a turkey pureed burger now - can't think of any way it'd be edible. I go to mushys next week. Hmm. I'm wondering - maybe some ground turkey with a tish of thousand island dressing? could be reminiscent of a big mac?? LOL I might give it a try! @@Christinamo7 has a recipe like that - not sure for what stage.

@@lovincasey Can you have broth or sugar free popsicles? I can have broth, sf popsicles, sf Jello, 1/2 cup watermelon or celery in additional to my shakes. I haven't started (I start on your surgery day) but know how rough it's going to be. -
That's the one area I care about sagging skin - my face/neck. :-(. The rest I can cover up! ????.
