    Feeling regretful

@@Tyani It's common to feel miserable in the first few weeks. Your hormones are all out of whack (probably the cause of breakouts on face). Find a different protein shake or drink - there's so many options- don't stay with one if it's causing issues. Stay hydrated - you will feel horrible if you don't. It could be dehydration causing some of your issues. Your weight loss is excellent- many gain weight the first week or do after surgery due to all of the fluids and swelling. You are right at the time of the 3rd week stall. Just keep getting protein and fluids and you'll feel much better. Look at what vitamins you are taking- biotin can cause skin issues/breakouts. Take measurements and if the scale isn't moving - you're most likely losing inches. Stay strong!

    Test results

I would assume that if there were abnormal results of concern that your PCP would have notified you. If they ordered labs it would be their responsibility to follow up.

    For the ladies...

You've had it rough. :-(. Have you looked into ablation? I'm off my BC pills for surgery and am a miserable bitch already- I can't imagine what I'll be like for pre-op diet and post-op.

    Traveling after surgery

You also have to consider the surgeon's schedule. I had to wait 4 weeks to get on schedule.

    Feeling discouraged!

@@terrymurua I think that's too low but I'm pre-op still. Try increasing fluids and see if that helps any.
  6. No - that's not recommended. That's not healthy long term and could mess up your metabolism. Follow the plan given - it's not for long that your calories will be that low post-op. My pre-op diet for 2 weeks says DO NOT GO UNDER 800 calories a day.

    Before Your Surgery Suggestion!

@@rolosmom7 My program recommended Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies. There's so many recipes on Pinterest and online that I don't think it's worth spending $48 on a cookbook.

    Surgery or no surgery?

@@southernsass Welcome! The best thing you can do is contact your insurance plan to determine if you have coverage for weight loss surgery and what the requirements are. Find a Center of Excellence in your area and call them to find out what steps you have to take - usually they have a seminar to learn about the different surgeries, etc. You will then have an idea of how to start your journey to weight loss surgery! Good luck!

    Stall. I know, eye roll

@@madisunshine1 I would try and eat some lean Protein rather than the Protein Bars (they can pack a lot of calories and fat depending on the brand). Peanut Butter is loaded with sugar so that may be an issue as well. I have been told that I should be eating every 3 hours (5-6 meals a day) - otherwise it is as though you are grazing. Change things up a bit and see if you can kick out of the stall. Be sure to measure and not eat more than you should - even if you don't feel full.

    Weight loss stalls

Not everyone loses 30 lbs the month after surgery. We are all different and lose at different rates. If you are meeting Protein and Fluid goals - then don't pay attention to the scale!

    Feeling discouraged!

How are you doing on your fluids?
  14. @@FredRock I would call if you walk and take gas x and still not better in an hour or two. Don't wait until it's close to closing time for the office (not sure what timezone you're in).
  15. @@FredRock I would do a lot of walking to see if you get better - continue to sip on Water and try a Protein shake again in a few hours. Try some GasX. If you don't feel better - I'd call your surgeon.
  16. @@FredRock Did you actually eat the laffy taffy? It could have caused an obstruction if you even ate a small piece of it.

    October sleevers?

@@SAL421 It's common to get cold feet. This is a huge decision. I think if you remember the reasons why you started on this journey you'll realize it is the right decision - but only you can decide. I'm scheduled in 20 days and know it's the only decision for me! I have to do it for my health.

    New here and wanting advice.

@@doogman87 Welcome. You may find some info in the "Guy's Room" that will help you to decide what to do. Most people will tell you the only thing they regret is not doing it sooner. Good luck on your journey! http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/431-the-guys%E2%80%99-room/

    Chest x Ray

@@sumochik It's very common during pre-op testing. I haven't gone to mine yet but expect one done. Pneumonia is one of the complications after any surgery - so they make sure you don't have any underlying lung disease or infection. I believe they can also see your heart to make sure there is no enlargement.
  20. @@anonmom There are several people with the same mental health conditions that have gotten surgery. The importance is that you are stable and cleared by a psychiatrist. I would call the program you went to and speak to a nurse manager or psychiatrist (if they have one) to find out if it's worth it to move forward with that practice. If they indicate this is a rule of the practice - find somewhere else. You may need extra therapy or support post-op - as this is as much mental as it is physical - but to automatically rule you out based on a diagnosis without knowing the status of the disease is not appropriate.

    Stall. I know, eye roll

@@madisunshine1 It is really important to measure your portions and stick with what is recommended. Just because you can eat more - doesn't mean you should be. You know your body needs time to adjust and stalls are common. Be sure you're following the plan and the weight will continue to come off. Don't sabotage yourself.

    Disappointed in myself

@@Joyecamp1992 The only way they'd cancel your surgery is if your liver was too enlarged to safely operate. You don't have a fatty liver (from your results) - so don't worry. The fact you told them says a lot about you!
  25. @@ecoreen94 I'm excited for you!! I am scheduled for 10/18. I bought a few things for post-op - a few different Protein shakes (prepared), some Atkins Lift protein Water, sugar free Jello, and a bunch of different teas. I'll get sugar free popsicles to have too. I didn't get a lot - as I'm not sure what Protein Shakes I'll like post-op. I'm going to make my own broth and freeze it. I ordered comfy front closure bras as recommended for post-op and I'm going to ask about a binder at my pre-op teaching class next week. I'm going to have really comfy new sheets ready for when I get home and a body pillow. I'm cleaning like crazy and trying to get organized. I'm going to wear comfy clothes to the hospital and plan to wear the same ones home (I'll only have them on for an hour). I'm bringing a few pairs of underwear, my cell phone, kindle, a long cell charger (also charges the kindle), chapstick, and my SO will be bringing a pillow for the car ride home. We're only 20 minutes away so I figure if I need anything else - someone can bring it to me. I will be starting my pre-op diet on 10/4/16 and just want this done! :-) Good luck with everything!
