What Do You Put Genepro In
KristenLe replied to cuteNATL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sugar free pudding, cream of wheat, butternut squash, cottage cheese. I haven't put it in a liquid yet but many do. -
Help nicotine test
KristenLe replied to Frenchie1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing you can do is quit now and hope for the best. If you have to postpone - at least you'll have 19 days smoke free under your belt. -
Period, constipation, stall or all of the above?
KristenLe replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon's office recommended Solace to try first. Be sure you're drinking enough fluids (avoid dairy). And stay off the scale - weight can fluctuate a lot and it will drive you crazy! -
I hit GOAL everyone!

Congrats Heather!!! You look awesome!!! -
Swelling of feet 1 week postop
KristenLe replied to sherri~'s topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Is there an RN at your surgeon's office you can call? I had visiting nurses my 1st week post-op and edema was one of the things they checked. Are you peeing ok? Drinking plenty of fluids (reduced sodium)? -
That sounds really good. Something I can do with all the protein shakes I bought!

Gallbladder removed at time a WLS?
KristenLe replied to mbuczkowski's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They most likely will not remove your gallbladder unless there are existing problems. Removal after the fact would be covered if problems arise. -
How is your weight loss going?
KristenLe replied to mwlsjmom4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A pound a day is excellent! Of course you're not done losing! Stay with the plan. Stop stressing about the scale! -
Restricting calories may not be the answer. It depends on what you're eating and how much fluids you're drinking. Go back to basics - Protein and fluids.
-
Make sure you are on an anti-nausea med. I was given Benadryl in addition to Zofran to fight nausea in the hospital. I can't imagine feeling like I did and being home. I wish they had people stay longer in the hospital! Take it slow - stay hydrated. Powerade Zero was all I could get in and keep down at first.

Puréed stage recipes.
KristenLe replied to Sammy1991's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No - the refried beans are a good consistency. I haven't had an issue with gas. The eggs just need to be a smooth consistency - I wisked them as cooking. They didn't sit as well as other things. -
Puréed stage recipes.
KristenLe replied to Sammy1991's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A few of my favorites... Refried beans with cheese& sour cream, cottage cheese with a tiny bit of All Fruit, Ricotta bake (recipe online), greek yogurt, butternut squash (add unflavored protein powder), scrambled eggs, egg salad.. Be creative and experiment. Just take it slow and measure portion sizes! -
The 1st thing the therapist had me do is keep a food diary but not only what I was eating but my mood or feelings at the time. I also wrote a list (ongoing) of all the great things I want to do once I lose weight and keep revisit anytime I have a feeling of going off plan. I also kept a list of the answers to every time I said "Why bother...?". I said that often because even when I ate healthy - the weight barely came off and I'd give up.

Knowing when to stop
KristenLe replied to mollydeez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@mollydeez It's important to eat on a schedule and measure portion sizes. I'm supposed to eat about every 2-3 hours (4-6 times a day) only about 2ozs at a time. Drink fluids at least30 mins after eating (and stop 30 mins before). Don't worry about calories at this point - concentrate on protein and fluids. -
Change things up a bit. Make sure you are getting enough Protein and fluids. Move some more. Stalls are common and you're probably losing inches. Just hang in there and stay off the scale for a while.
-
I am not allowed rice so be sure to check your plan. There's so many good options. Ham salad, chicken salad, turkey meatballs with gravy (brown or tomato), soft cheese, refried beans with cheese & sour cream, pulled pork or chicken, deli meat, chili, cottage cheese, hamburger...
-
Be sure to drink something with electrolytes and sodium. That should help too. Glad you're feeling better.

It's not easy to stay on a diet - that's why most of us needed surgery. The best thing I did preop was go to a therapist who worked with my Bariatric Program to deal with emotional eating. More mindless or boredom eating than anything else. I strongly recommend therapy. I am 2 weeks post-op and was able to do 2 weeks pre-op liquid diet without"cheating" and feel like I'm doing well post-op. It's more mental than physical. The Sleeve is only a tool - but it is a good tool!

Struggling a bit in week 7 postop
KristenLe replied to Asmundson69's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Asmundson69 Soft foods should include fish, tuna, etc. Try incorporating more of those in your diet - more Protein and should keep you full longer. Are you still taking a PPI (reduce stomach acid)? Get some unflavored Protein powder to add to other foods (spaghetti squash, soup). Take slow bites - if the pains don't go away - call your surgeon. -
1.5 weeks post op, feeling down
KristenLe replied to happycamper06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@happycamper06 Your hormones are all out of whack too and making things look worse. Hang in there! See if there's something savory you can have instead. -
Omgosh I can't take this
KristenLe replied to kblanc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will not stretch your pouch with fluids. It may hurt like hell though. I had sleeve but typically the same sipping is required - I'm able to drink normally and only 2 weeks out. -
@@Jenny9541 There's many reasons that the scale isn't moving. You need to be sure you are drinking enough fluids. It could be constipation, your period, water retention, etc. Let your body adjust to all the changes. Follow your plan. Don't eat too little - that can be as bad as too much. Just keep going. The weight will come off in it's own time. Stay strong!

@@PB42 It could be dehydration. Definitely need to increase fluids. They're more important than purees.

VSG Post Op Day 5
KristenLe replied to VSG_Brandnewkindame's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please call your surgeon and make sure this isn't a complication. It could be just gas pains but could be a blood clot or leak too. -
Drinking after eating
KristenLe replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are early out - are you eating something other than puree?
