    Any October 2016 Sleevers?

@@tfarr Get back to basics - your sleeve is still there and ready to work with you!! Try the 5 Day Pouch Retest or go back to your postop diet and reset yourself. Good luck.

    1 week after

@@lulietta2016 Make sure you are taking a PPI for stomach acid (that often mimics hunger pains). Liquids will go right through your sleeve so it's unusual to feel "full" - but you shouldn't be starving either. Stay hydrated!

    VSG or RNY

@@Smdnght28 The sleeve is done quite frequently at my practice - probably just as often as RNY (Gastric Bypass @@mr1121 ). If you really want the sleeve I'd get a second opinion (your surgeon sounds a little old school).

    Waiting for insurance approval....

@@cassandramarie93 Hopefully your surgeon or PCP will get that info to them ASAP. Good luck!
  7. @@simpsongrad All plans are different - do you actually have a two week pre-op diet required? Mine is 2 weeks of liquids only - 5 Protein shakes (Bariatric Fusion) and 3 Snacks of broth, sf Jello or sf popsicles. I start tomorrow - surgery on the 18th.

I honestly don't know yet! I find out on the 11th. The. I started reading the forum on people who aren't happy with their decision to do the sleeve and wishing they didn't do it. Now I'm a whole new anxiety level. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Usually the regret is very short lived and is within the first week or two when hormones are raging and you're recovering from major surgery. Read all of the success stories!

  13. @@mrssoupmix It's so important to get in your fluids and Protein - not only for weight loss but for healing! Stay off the scale and work on meeting your protein and Fluid goals!

    Starting the Pre-op Process

@@desreynolds80 Have you found out the requirements for approval from your insurance? If your BMI is under 40 - do you have any comorbidities? Once you meet with the nutritionist - you may want to consider moving to a post-op like diet (high Protein, low carb) and practicing some of the skills you will need post-op (eating slowly, mindful eating, etc.). I highly encourage anyone to get some therapy pre-op to discuss any eating issues (emotional eating, boredom eating, mindless eating, binge eating, etc.).
  15. KristenLe

    nauseous

@@photospazz It could be any of those issues. Are you taking an anti-nausea med? If not - I would ask your Dr. to prescribe one. It's important to stay hydrated first - getting in your Protein second.
  16. @@cbonet The fact you lost ANY weight 5 days post-op is excellent! Others who lose faster may have more weight to lose - or they had more Water weight to lose (depending on whether they had a pre-op diet or how they ate prior to surgery). Your loss is not slow - nearly 10 lbs in 2 weeks is a great loss! Stay strong - you're going to stall - you need to follow your program and just keep working at it.
  17. KristenLe

    Exercise

@@danny77 Everyone should exercise after surgery - but I'm sure there are some that don't. You don't have to do anything extreme - even walking every day will be good.
  18. KristenLe

    Fertility

@@negrita Many people have fertility issues - either due to obesity and/or PCOS. Weight loss surgery can increase fertility significantly - it is extremely important to wait as long as your Dr suggests to get pregnant as it can be risky for both you and the baby to get pregnant sooner. My Program says 18 months - 2 years.

    $$Money$$

@@Natalina If you have insurance covering most of it (and a prior authorization) - do not worry! They aren't going to refuse surgery if you can't pay at the time of check-in. Simply tell them you don't have the $$ - and weren't aware you would have to pay. Most people don't bring anything with them to the hospital besides an ID and insurance card. If they want $ ahead of time -they'll call and let you know.
  20. A variety of Protein shakes (don't get a lot - tastes change after surgery), crystal light, broth (or make your own), Powerade zero, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, protein Water (Atkins Lift), a Blender Bottle, a food scale, gas x, a comfy front closure bra, tea (I bought a bunch of flavors), bottled water (in case I don't like the tap water after surgery), and I bought a bottle that keeps liquids cold or hot for hours (since it will take a while to drink anything). I didn't go overboard - I hope that I'll be able to go to the store by the end of the week when I start pureed.
  21. @@MommyB I would not call your insurance - let the hospital/dr bill the insurance and see what happens. Calling may have them red flagging the claims and reconsidering paying if related to surgery.
  22. @@megnun21 Drink tons of Water or non-caloric drinks - that will help! I can have 5 Protein shakes and 3 Snacks of broth, sf popsicle or sf Jello. You're lucky you can have food. Stay strong!

    No support from boyfriend

@@christyb69 Talk to him honestly about his concerns. Is he insecure? Is he afraid of the risks of surgery? or Is he just a self-centered asshole? Explain to him how you need his support but you are having this surgery regardless. If he can step up to the plate - great - if not - do whatever you need to do to improve your health (physical and emotional). Good luck!

@@mr1121 Meal replacement usually means drinking high protein/low sugar Protein shakes instead of food during "meal time". Mine is 5 shakes a day. liquids usually means the non-caloric drinks you can have (usually as much as you want) like Water, Powerade zero, crystal light, decaf tea, sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello. There are so many versions of the pre-op diet - you really should insist they provide you with detailed information.
