@@AnA92212 You lost an incredible amount of weight to only have that much sagging skin - you've been very lucky! I don't think I'll lose as much weight and probably won't be as lucky - but one can hope! Congrats!

@@kj4 Supposedly, your body can only process a certain amount of Protein at a time - so I think it would be a waste.

@@Shayisready There is but I'm getting an error trying to get to it for the link. @@Inner Surfer Girl has lost over 220 lbs and is a great resource!!!

@@Shayisready Welcome Misty! Best thing you can do is find out what your insurance requires for approval. At your BMI - they will probably not require you to do a supervised diet but check to be sure as that can often delay the process. Hope all goes well with your journey!

@@staceface I would see if your Doctor can submit documentation indicating why you should be eligible to have surgery. Aetna is difficult from what I've read. They may require a history of a BMI over 40. Call the surgeon's office and speak to the insurance coordinator and ask her to look into your specific coverage and what you could do to get surgery covered. Don't give up! Measure yourself again too - maybe you're not as tall as you thought you were! That's happened before!

90 Ibs down and can't seem to drop the last 30!
KristenLe replied to Lisa_85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Lisa_85 Have you tried to change things up a bit? Maybe add more Protein, healthy fats, more fruits / veggies or change your exercise a bit. 90 lbs in 5 months is incredible - great job! You'll get to where you want to be - be patient and remain strong! -

Cravings are making me crazy

Distractions! Go for a walk, read, color, knit, paint, sit outside in the sun, paint your nails, etc. Keep a list of all the great things you are going to do once you've lost weight and read it anytime you have a craving! Keep your eye on the prize! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -

Liver reduction diet starts tomorrow.

Same here! I'm nervous about being able to deal with pre-op diet. -
I want to get drunk.
KristenLe replied to mollydeez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a terrible idea. The purpose of your liquid diet is to shrink your liver. It's not wise to drink alcohol during this time. It could trigger hunger and cravings too. -
I like the first one and the last one.

Does EVERYONE have saggy skin?

I don't think you'll have saggy legs unless all your weight is in your legs. -
6 Month Medically Supervised Diet
KristenLe replied to hudjess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@hudjess The person who helped me the most as I prepared was the psychologist at my Program. She helped me to look at my eating habits and discussed tools to help with emotional eating (boredom eating, mindless eating, etc.). I start my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow and will probably use more of the tools she provided than the nutritionist did. -
@@HRHMKB I'm two weeks away from surgery! I find it nearly impossible to lose weight on my own and with the health problems that keep piling on - I felt that WLS was really the only option. Hopefully I'll be a success and can encourage you to take the same path!!!

6 Month Medically Supervised Diet

Proof of weight loss attempts
KristenLe replied to nh-vsgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you scheduled an appointment with a surgeon yet? Usually they'll investigate more into what exactly your insurance needs for approval. Your PCP sounds fairly useless so hopefully they don't require anything of her. -
Hair loss [emoji20]
KristenLe replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@natarshassleeve That may be from the stress of surgery / anesthesia. I lose a ton of hair daily pre-op from my thyroid problem and age. Hopefully the sooner you lose it the sooner it stops. Good luck. -

KristenLe replied to nh-vsgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@nh-vsgirl My surgeon's office went over my history - but this usually means that they require a period of time where you do supervised weight loss. Mine was with my surgeon (the nutritionist actually) and some are with their PCP. -

Sleeve done feb 24 2016
KristenLe replied to return2slender's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@return2slender You need to determine why you feel sick after eating. That's the first step - because in order to stop losing - you need to eat more / increase calories. Eat more often during the day - 3 times is minimal especially if you can't eat much at all or only eating Soup. Have they done any bloodwork to make sure your Vitamin levels are good?
