  1. @@liljilo I only have Protein and Fluid goals at that stage. Are you meeting your goals for those?

    Day 9 ...throwing up

@@natarshassleeve I often get sick taking Vitamins - especially first thing in the morning. I have to take my vitamins before bed. Hope you feel better!
  3. @@HRHMKB I would investigate the band some more - I was told by my surgeon that 50-60 % of band patients require a secondary surgery due to slipping, erosion, etc. I don't think the recovery time is much faster for band patients - you still will have abdominal surgery and the same lifting precautions as with the sleeve.

    Post-op emotional rollercoaster?

@@Nerdgrl Very normal! Explain to your husband that your hormones are out whack from the surgery and that it's going to be a rough few weeks. I'm sure he'll understand.
  5. @@mollydeez My pre-op instructions say "avoid caffeine". If a cup of coffee happens to throw itself in your way - you might not be able to avoid it - then I say go for it! The only thing I would caution - you don't want the caffeine withdrawal post-op on top of all of the other issues you'll be dealing with. Try half decaf/half caf for a few days and go to full decaf a few days before surgery. I started my pre-op diet yesterday (shakes only) and have had a pretty bad headache as well. I usually only had one cup of coffee in the mornings so I don't think it's caffeine withdrawal. I ended up going to bed at 8:30 last night before I ripped open a bag of potato chips!

    Sleeved Sept 29th! Help!

Try some warm/hot tea or broth, powerade zero, crystal light, infused water, vitamin water zero, etc. Try several things until you find something that helps. Keep walking and sipping! Call your surgeon if things don't improve today.

    Trouble eating

@@shrusara Are you taking a PPI? When you get hungry after the half hour - try drinking fluids instead of eating and see if that satisfies your hunger. You don't mention how far out you are or what you are eating - more dense Protein will fill you for a longer period of time. You may also still have to supplement Protein shakes until you can meet your protein goals with food.

Put it behind you and get ready for the future! Congrats on your approval and upcoming surgery!

    Hunger pains

It's possible it's stomach acid and not hunger. Be sure to take a PPI and drink lots of fluids.

    After dinner snacking.

Find something else to do - read, color, clean, paint your nails, call a friend, take a walk, etc. If you have a snack - try sf popsicles or jello.
  11. @ I'm so excited for you!!! Now - stay healthy!!! I wouldn't worry about the pre-op diet. My surgeon doesn't do them for someone with your BMI. Congrats on the surgery date - it'll be here before you know it!!!

    Endoscopy

You can't drive yourself home due to anesthesia but I don't think there's much of a recovery. You might be tired or have a sore throat.

@@Tyani Your PCP sounds like an asshole!!! He expected you to lose 62 lbs in 3 weeks? Seriously?? I would have told him to screw himself. You're doing great - and you aren't doing anything wrong!!! Meet your Protein and Fluid goals and keep going! I'm sure your surgeon is thrilled with your weight loss results. I'd be finding a new PCP ASAP - no one needs that BS! You're 3 weeks post-op - no one loses 62 lbs in 3 weeks!

    Waiting!

@@rachel_bypass If you aren't receiving a phone call back from leaving a message - I would call again and explain that you've left messages and would like to speak to someone in person. Medicare may take a little longer than some commercial plans - but someone should at least be calling you back to confirm they sent everything out.

    Water? Nooooo

@@GoldenLife1991 I don't think it's uncommon. What are they saying in the hospital?? Are they giving you anti-nausea meds? Did they do a leak test yet? We don't get discharged the next day regardless - have to stay 2 nights. Hope you feel better soon!

    Help!

@@godblessedchild There's "Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies" that my Program recommended. You can also find alot online (Pinterest, The World According to Eggface, etc.).
  20. @@gustavio You can't compare yourself to others. We are all different. Men lose faster than woman usually. Often those losing a significant amount of weight that early on have a lot more to lose than you do. This isn't a race - you have done well and should be ecstatic! Without surgery, it would have taken me a year to lose 20 lbs and about 3 minutes to gain it all back. Stop weighing so often - you're going to sabotage yourself! And increase your fluids!!!
  21. @@gustavio Your expectations were far too high! You're only 6 weeks out or so and have lost 27 lbs - that's not a slow loss. I'm not sure why you would have expected to lose 45 lbs already - that's not realistic at all. You need to concentrate on getting enough Protein and fluids and stay off the scale. Your surgery is not broken. I'm sure you've seen the posts about stalling - and that's what you've been doing the last 2 weeks. Lower your expectations or you will only be disappointed.

Those days will go by quickly. You are giving yourself a jumpstart that you will be achieving after your sleeve. I bet you will be feeling successful BEFORE surgery. Wishing you all the best.

I had my pre op today and surgery is in 11 days....I can't wait!

  24. @@LittleLizzieLilliput Do you have to smoke it - or can you take it in another form? Only your surgeon can tell you whether or not you can continue smoking. Good luck with your surgery!
  25. @@Big_fine You very well could have sleep apnea - which is usually a comorbidity. They may consider covering you with PCOS. Anemia will have to be treated and stable prior to surgery - as they won't usually operate if you are anemic at the time of surgery. I wouldn't cancel your appointment - see what they surgeon says!
