  1. For my pre-op diet I am required to drink Bariatric fusion Meal Replacement shakes (I am not thrilled when they specify a kind but whatever). Anyway - what's your favorite flavor(s)? I have to drink 5 shakes a day (that's basically all I can have for 2 weeks) so I'll get a few different flavors to mix it up a bit. I was thinking Cappuccino as one. Thanks in advance.
  2. @@The New Kel I bought vanilla, chocolate and cappuccino. They're all pretty good (with skim milk). I added some PB2 to the chocolate and vanilla yesterday and that was a good change. I have dark chocolate and english toffee stevia drops to add too. I have lost a couple of pounds (on day 4) but gained from yesterday to today and wanted to throw the scale through the window. I reminded myself what I always tell others - weight fluctuates daily and not to pay attention. @@SLH-A I bought the samples - they were good - I haven't tried the cinnamon bun one though - sounds too sweet for me. I have to do 4-5 shakes a day for 2 weeks so I bought 3 big tubs of it (each tub is supposed to last 4 1/2 days). I will probably buy more for post-op. There's no after-taste or film like there is from other Protein shakes.

    Hair loss

hair loss seems to happen to some - regardless of what they've done to prevent it. I lose a ton of hair pre-op - so not looking forward to what will happen post-op - but I'll deal with it if it happens. It's one of those things - it is what it is.

    Favorite Protein Shakes?

I have to do Bariatric fusion (Protein Powder with Low Fat Milk) and it's very good. Not cheap - but worth it as far as I'm concerned. I got it in the BP store but there's also a website www.bariatricfusion.com

    Any October 2016 Sleevers?

You probably gained weight in the hospital from all the fluids, swelling, gas, etc. so don't be disappointed in what the scale says. It's best to stay off of it for a few weeks.

Dr. Does not stand by choice

Your Primary Dr or Surgeon? Honestly- this is your choice. Many can't get pregnant without improved fertility with weight loss. A pregnancy when obese can be dangerous and high risk.

BMI of 21 getting gastric sleeve... thoughts?

You need serious help - real or fake! If you are even thinking about having a major surgery to lose weight to the point of being underweight - you need help! If you are making all of this up - you need major help. I'm not jealous, offended or anything you might be thinking- I'm just completely horrified at this entire thread - again real or not! If real - your surgeon is an unethical hack job who shouldn't be practicing medicine.
  12. KristenLe - you have a surgery date now??I do!!! Yippee! 11 days - 10/18!

    Fighting temptations

They are on my plan. Suggests to put them in blender after cooked and take it slow - many can't tolerate them. I'm ending day 3 pre-op diet of shakes only - it's rough but will all be worth it.

    Keep food hot?

I bet one of those yeti type cups would work. The Walmart brand is about $7 for the small one.I bought this brand- highly recommended by @@LipstickLady and very reasonable. https://www.rticcoolers.com/

    Fighting temptations

Remind yourself how dangerous it is to eat solid foods at this stage. You have a line of staples holding what's left of your stomach together. Small pieces of food can get caught in your staples causing major complications- some life threatening. It really isn't worth it.

There's some cup warmers you can get. I bought a container that keeps cold or hot.

    Thinking January

@@patrick_920 As @@PorkChopExpress said - there's never really a convenient time. You will most likely have a 2-4 week pre-op diet - but ask your surgeon - all seem to have different requirements. I'm on day 3 of a 2 week shake-only pre-op diet. It sucks - but I'm getting through it knowing that surgery is right around the corner. Talk to your surgeon about how long you will be out of work, restrictions, etc. Your life and health are far more important than housework.

@@TammyMMD Take the meds as prescribed - even if you think you feel better. Once you get to the point where they wear off - it's very hard to catch up to the pain again. Be sure to walk alot - get rid of the gas pains and use a heating pad. I'm sure it's good to be home!!!

    Cardiac Clearance

@@mstrice I've never heard of the results indicating the need for a exercise program. It makes sense I guess. Hope it all goes well.
  21. @@LittleLizzieLilliput If you did a liquid diet for 16 months - this should be a piece of cake. I'm allowed pureed food (but it's food) one week after surgery and normal food in the 7th week. You just have to take your time introducing foods to make sure you tolerate them. Write a list of all that this surgery will do to help you - and see if it's something you want to do. Your health is most important. Statistics show that those that lose on their own have a 5% chance of keeping it off. That's not great odds. It will require a lifestyle change - but as far as I'm concerned - at least I'll have a life.
