    dizzy beyond belief

What size water bottles? You very well could be dehydrated. You need at least 64 ozs of water. Try drinking something with electrolytes (Powerade Zero,G2 mixed 50/50 with water) and have some broth (sodium). Are you on any medications?
  2. @@Jonesy23 I hope it went okay. Sometimes they do make you start over.

    What to eat

@@gustavio I would avoid prepared meals like lean cousine, weight watchers, etc. - not only are they loaded with sodium but they often have tons of carbs. You would be much better off preparing meals ahead of time - like on a Sunday - make appropriate portion sized lunches/dinners and put some in refrigerator and some in freezer. Grill a few chicken breasts (or cook them in a crock pot with some broth, spices, etc.) and make a few meals out of them making different things (chicken salad, chicken with veggies, a chicken parm casserole type thing (kind of like ricotta bake but with chicken), buffalo chicken salad or dip). There's so many possibilities to eat fresh foods rather than the processed food.

    Full liquids

@@brather Usually these things are allowed - but double check your plan. Creamed/strained Soups (tomato Soup, cream of broccoli (strained),etc), sugar free pudding, greek yogurt, tomato juice / V8.

    Sugar free gum or mints

I know that you can not swallow gum or pieces of a mint. Why don't you try a mouth rinse until you can ask your surgeon if you can have gum or mints?

@@Nerdgrl My plan doesn't allow for yogurt or pudding (pre-op anyway).

    October Surgery Buddies

@@Camacho 933 Are you required to do a certain type of shake? If so - try adding some sugar free flavorings, PB2, cocoa powder, instant coffee, etc. to your shakes to change up the flavors a little. If you can pick your own shake - try some different kinds or some Isopure (like fruit juice). I'm supposed to have 5 Bariatric Fusion shakes a day but have only been doing 3 the last few days (just don't feel like having something sweet that often). I've been making my own broth and thankfully I'm allowed celery (that's been dinner the last 3 days). Can you have sugar free popsicles or sugar free jello? Hang in there!!! I figure if we can get through this - post-op should be easier.

    Pre-op diet has begun

@@mzvanessa I'm on day 4 and it sucks but I'm staying strong! 10 more days to go - I'm not really that hungry but the head hunger and cravings are brutal. I keep on testing myself though - stopped at the pizzeria to get my SO a pizza for supper - it smelled so good I was practically drooling. LOL I'm preparing myself for resisting temptation after surgery - when it's more important. I feel like if I can do 2 weeks of liquids only - I should do pretty well post-op. Hang in there!

Blood pressure or dehydration - possibly both. Call your surgeon.

    What should I do?

@@thesstrt I would call insurance to find out the status and call your surgeon's office back and tell them that you would like to keep it on 10/18/16. That's not fair to keep changing it on you - it's not as though you're going in to get your hair colored.
  11. @ I'm curious about the Dexa Scan and hope to get one. I did the body fat % at our employee health fair last week (you hold onto handles on some controller looking device) but I don't think those are truly accurate.

6 months of weights then VSG

@@GTFMommy2516 The best thing I did during my wait was get therapy for emotional eating (boredom eating, mindless eating). It gave me tools I've been able to use pre-op (on day 4 of liquid pre-op diet) and hopefully will help post-op. I started some eating habits - use a smaller plate (smaller portion), eat slowly, don't watch TV and eat (mindless eating), drink lots of Water every day, eat mostly high protein/low carb (50 % Protein 50% produce), eliminate (or at least drastically reduce) bread, Pasta and rice. Prepare - have healthy foods available at all times, eat 4-6 small meals with 3 hours in between (don't let yourself get too hungry where you'll eat anything in front of you). The 6 months does seem like a long time - but use this time to your advantage. This surgery is more mental than it is physical. I went to a psychologist who worked in my Bariatric Program so she was familiar with bariatric patients but also how I will need to eat following surgery. Good for you and your husband for getting this under control while you are still young and don't have the health problems that will come with obesity eventually.
  13. @@cuteNATL You need to call your surgeon. There's far too many possibilities of complications with this surgery. It could be normal - but none of us are able to tell you that.

lol @KristenLe. I relate, watching my hubby order Pizza Hut during my liquid phase drove me crazy. I craved pizza so much back then that I'm still attached to the Cauliflower pizza recipe.

Once you are there, easy pizza solution. Take a wonton wrapper, put a pepperoni on it, add 1/3 cheese stick, roll, seal and bake. A make a couple dozen for the kids because they are so poppable. Super crunchy, lower carb, no frying.

    Day 11 what were u eating ?

@@natarshassleeve If you are allowed mushed foods - try cottage cheese (small curd), greek yogurt, hummus, creamed/strained Soups (or blended soups - no pasta/rice), ricotta bake, chili (blend to same consistency). I'm allowed mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc. - but that's only because the portions are so small and I'm still required to drink shakes for my Protein.
  17. @@krystalrose219 You are at a fairly high BMI for only 20 years old. It's nearly impossible to lose weight on your own and keep it off (the stats are 5% of people maintain that weight loss). Those aren't great odds and it's best to take control of your weight/health before you develop comorbidities. Try and explain this to your family (if you want their support) or just have their negative comments go in one ear and out the other. I don't think they will truly be disappointed in you - they just might be scared and think surgery is such an extreme measure. It is - but it's also life saving! Don't wait until you are older - probably heavier, have high blood pressure, diabetes, degenerative joint disease, etc. A young man next to me at my pre-op teaching class explained he was having surgery because his doctors told him if he didn't he would die. He had a stroke 7 days after his 24th birthday! I admire you for taking this journey at such a young age. I wish I did!

BMI of 21 getting gastric sleeve... thoughts?

Weight loss surgery of any kind is NOT treatment for an eating problem / eating disorder. I'm not getting surgery because I have an eating disorder. You may want to look up the definition of bariatrics. What do you plan to do when you've lost the 10 lbs you need to lose and keep losing? You can't just say - okay - that's enough - put my stomach back. This is not only dangerous but any surgeon operating on someone that has an active / untreated eating disorder - and only has 10-15 lbs to lose should be criminally charged with patient endangerment. Go ahead and get the surgery - it will not stop you from binge eating.

    Pain Below an Incision

It's always a good idea to check with your surgeon just to be safe. I believe this is normal though - it's probably the incision that they removed your stomach from.

    Emotional day 2 post op

@@southbound Are you taking anything for the nausea? If not - ask for something and if so - ask for something different. @@blizair09 I just went to pre-op teaching class yesterday and one of the power points said "This is a full-time job" and that's why they recommend staying out of work for 4-6 weeks.
  24. @@FitnessMyWay What are your husband's concerns? Have you really told him how you feel and why you want this surgery? Although you are healthy now - it is likely that remaining obese will soon result in comorbidities. Explain that to him and that you want to get your weight under control before you develop other health problems or ruin your joints, spine, etc. Although you certainly don't need his support - it will make things easier. This is a very emotional journey.
