October Surgery Buddies
KristenLe replied to limesqueeze23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you get a prescription for anything?? If not - call your surgeon. You can try some ginger tea or peppermint tea - but you'll probably need an anti-nausea med for a few weeks. -
It's so tempting to try and skip ahead. I feel you. The hospital made me a banana milkshake the second day after my surgery. It was the best thing I've ever tasted. I was sleeved 2 days before you and I've been drinking shakes, thin soups, yoghurt etc since day 2. Had no problems. I don't know what I'd do having to be on clear liquids for so long, so you're doing awesome. I've lost 8 pounds since surgery (I'm 6 days post op). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I have been on a liquids diet since 2 weeks before the surgery. Idk how I'm surviving. I just want regular food. I know i could easily get in my Protein with real food like yogurt, cottage cheese etc. It's just getting so difficult. Tong hard not to skip ahead.... Sent from my LGLS770 using the BariatricPal App Your stomach needs to heal - think about what it looks like on the inside - you don't need to make it start digesting food. You'll be very surprised at how little you can eat - you'd never get your protein in through foods this early on. That can take months sometimes. We don't need food to survive - we need Water. Your body is breaking down the fat stores. Hang in there! I'm on the 18th too - and on day 8 of the liquid diet! One week from now, I'll be in the recovery room and on the Loser's Bench! :-)

Pre-op diet has begun
KristenLe replied to mzvanessa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are you allowed? If Protein shakes - get some additives like sugar free flavoring or PB2 to change it up. Buy a Blender Bottle. If you can have broth - make your own. Keep busy and remember this is temporary and we can get through it. I haven't cheated at all - done with day 6. I can have protein shakes, broth, sugar free popsicles or Jello and celery. It's brutal but I'm looking at the big picture.@krisrenLe. On my 3rd day liquid diet...I got this and so do you...I think we get sleeved the sameday..the 18th Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App We sure do! I'm on day 7 - we can do this! I'm cleaning like crazy to stay busy! -
Surgery tomorrow, scared!
KristenLe replied to ella37's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's very normal to be scared. Just remember that your surgical Team will take good care of you. Follow the instructions and you'll be good! Prayers! -
Congrats! Looking good!

They are usually in with the medications and Vitamin section. Where the Protein shakes are. Yes - you can have herbal tea and Splenda. I can have red Jello.

Stay strong!!! If you can get thru this - you'll have an easier time post-op! Today has been rough. I still haven't cheated but I'm hungry and grumpy. Had to go to a family party - tons of yummy food (antipasto, heirloom tomatoes, egg salad, chicken salad, cole slaw) and I sipped my shake and had some broth. Day 6 done! 8 more days to go - we've got this!
-
Day 5 pre-op almost over! I'm hanging in there! Be sure to use that incentive spirometer. Just keep working on meeting your goals.
-
It's probably gas and swelling. Try different temps of liquids- tiny sips.
-
liquids go through your sleeve quickly and will not cause stretching.

Protein making me sick
KristenLe replied to Danielle893's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Danielle893 Have you tried any of the powders with milk? I'm drinking Bariatric fusion powder with skim milk (pre-op) and it's very good. Also - try some of the Protein drinks like Isopure, Syntrax Nectars, Atkins Lift, etc. You can also add unflavored Protein Powder to liquids. Just keep trying something different until you can tolerate it. Good luck. -
Any October 2016 Sleevers?
KristenLe replied to bkskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@lowbmi65 Make sure you are taking a PPI (acid reducer) - that may be the hunger pains you are feeling. Head hunger is very real and unfortunately surgery doesn't take care of that! Also - you should try and get more fluids - that may be causing the hunger pains as well. You're only about 1/2 way to the Water / no calorie fluids goals and will feel better as you hydrate more. Good luck! -
Definitely more no cal drinks. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

Hunger 4 days post op. Normal?
KristenLe replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could be head hunger but what antacid are you taking? Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -
Are you drinking enough fluids? Not getting enough sleep can be an issue. I'd also try to get more protein. Your loss is good though so that's not failure! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

Day 11 what were u eating ?
KristenLe replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They have tropical flavors that are good. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -
The cravings don't necessarily go away with surgery. It's in your head and they only operated on your stomach! Head hunger is brutal. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

It might not have happened yet or might not happen at all - but unlikely to do with biotin. Usually it happens or it doesn't regardless of attempts to prevent.
-
I'd be careful with weaves- you may damage the hair even more.

@@spskcmo Stalls are normal. I don't think it has anything to do with drinking coffee unless you're adding lots of sugar and cream. You lost 44 lbs in 52 days - your body needs time to adjust. It's surprising that you are just experiencing your first stall.

Good news and bad news
KristenLe replied to hudjess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@hudjess I would try. They also probably have some standards they are supposed to meet - like responding to requests for records within 72 hours. Can your surgeon send a request for information indicating it is needed immediately? There's no way it should take 4 weeks. -
Dialudid is close to heroin! :-)

Good news and bad news
KristenLe replied to hudjess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@hudjess Do they have a patient portal for their electronic health record? Sometimes you can get record information from there. I don't think 4 weeks is legitimate if it is a current physician who should be releasing info to a specialist. That's a delay in care. -
Favorite Protein Shakes?
KristenLe replied to Ewants2shrink's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@chycky @ginabee38@chycky I can do any Protein shake post-op - but pre-op I'm required to do Bariatric fusion.
