URGERNT HELP NEEDED
KristenLe replied to Griggs2alr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes - it's the dreaded stall. Search Embrace the Stall...it happens around this time (for the 1st time anyway). Keep doing what you're doing - ignore the scale! -
Why only Tylenol?

This is what my therapist talked to me about Thursday. Thanks for sharing!

You are still very young and have your whole life ahead of you. I agree with the others - get some counseling and go to a nutritionist that both deal with Bariatric Programs. You don't mention how much you weigh but with diabetes and that you mention you graze - you probably would have been better off with bypass. The sleeve can work for you - but it's just a tool - you need to change your eating habits and mindset. Good luck!

Protoen shake woth skim milk n week 2 post op?
KristenLe replied to koddie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It depends on your post-op diet - many are different. I can have milk in mine - some are just clear liquids at this point. -
need to learn to slow dow
KristenLe replied to bevewhite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT said it takes your body 20 min to tell your brain you are full. Eat the right portion size and stop regardless if you don't feel full yet. -
Try other fluids with protein or add protein powder to foods. I found some flavored protein that was good and also chicken stock with 9gms of protein.

Fairly new to this blog. Need some advice ASAP

Do you have counseling available to deal with the emotional eating? I just started and I think it's going to help me on my journey. Also - there are some great books and articles to read. I have downloaded The First Aid Kit to living after Bariatric Surgery which is good. Here's an article too. Sometimes our loved ones are afraid and might not be aware that they are sabotaging us. Talk to him and let him know you need his support! Good luck! As a Veteran - you have the strength to get through this! Stay strong! You can do this! http://www.helpguide.org/articles/diet-weight-loss/emotional-eating.htm -
Make sure to get enough fluids too - headaches can be from dehydration as well. Hope you feel better soon!

pre-op, but post-op diet question?
KristenLe replied to mostly10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm the same way - other than a few Bloody Mary's and maybe some White Sangria - all I drink is water and unsweetened ice tea. I'm hoping I'll be able to tolerate them after surgery. I will try the infused water ideas @InnerSurferGirl. -
Unless you drink enough water and have enough protein - your body will hold onto the fat and you will not lose as much. This isn't about calories. You need to follow the program or you'll end up with issues (dehydration, exhaustion, etc). You need fluids and protein!
-
You will experience stalls on the scale - but don't panic - it's temporary. Your body is healing. Keep to your plan - water and protein and you will start losing again soon. Search for "Embracing the stall".

I would encourage counseling to deal with emotional eating. I'm sorry your husband isn't supportive. I'm sure that makes it more difficult. I would try talking to him and explain how you need his support to get healthy and be around for him and your children. Maybe he'd go to counseling with you! Good luck.

Try taking some GasX or Zantac. Also try different temp fluids to see if any are better. Good luck.

Liquid Diet Question - Optifast Protein Drinks/Soups
KristenLe replied to HiHoSleever's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Check with your NUT about post-op...someone recently posted that they were told no on the shakes because too many calories. It doesn't seem right but who knows. -
I would try taking a GasX or Zantac.

I don't believe you'll be allowed NSAIDS ...that soon anyway due to potential issues with bleeding. They might be able to give you something mild instead.

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
KristenLe replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@wondering1. I have this problem as well and I'm going to counseling to assist identifying why and ways to eliminate the emotional eating. I just had 1 session so I don't know the answer BUT how about having a low cal protein snack or shake to satisfy your craving? Are you allowed anything at this stage? -
How long after surgery did you get pregnant?
KristenLe replied to salvakla's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
My surgeon advised 2 years. You give your body time to lose weight and are able to get enough nutrients and food for you and the bambino. I'm sure earlier is not as catastrophic as your Dr indicated (probably a scare tactic). -
My NUT said sugars should be 5 or lower and avoid added sugars.

Non-caloric and decaffeinated are recommended but that leaves alot of options. -

9 Day Post-Op Water Question
KristenLe replied to smashley296's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think there's anything wrong with drinking that much. They recommend at least 64oz. -
Advice needed, plication recovery and secrecy
KristenLe replied to twins2016's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I honestly can't imagine you being able to do this without your husband's knowledge and need his help and support especially with young children. I believe it involves a hospital stay and about 7-10 recovery time - probably longer to lift. Good luck!
