It's probably dehydration. Concentrate more on your water than on protein shakes. Try getting some protein water or add protein powder to a non caloric drink.

Your back may hurt because you're sleeping differently too.

Yes - many peer to peer reviews overturn the decision.

When will I stop regretting this surgery?
KristenLe replied to LadyJustice007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would encourage you to get counseling from someone with Bariatric Surgery experience. Depression symptoms can be worse after WLS and you might need some medication or meds altered that you take now. Hope you feel better soon. -
Denied due to no disabling condition
KristenLe replied to Brenda Sherwood's topic in Insurance & Financing
Tell them whatever this rule is that you need it in writing. Go to the Obesity Action Coalition website - they have some good info on appealing. Talk to your surgeon's office too - they should help. -
Woohoo! Great job!

Pre-Op Diet OMG! I'm Dying!
KristenLe replied to UpandAtom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's probably the issue - too many carbs. You want a shake with less carbs. Premier Protein Shakes have 1gm sugars and 160 calories. Also be sure to be drinking tons of water! Hang in there! -
Having some trouble...
KristenLe replied to Lizardlady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I should have clarified, this is my pre-op diet. I have not had the surgery just yet. Scheduled for the 4th of May. If I'm not able to do it now, does that mean I'm REALLY going to have issues later?!I don't understand why they have you doing this pre-op. I agree -/your NUT sounds like a hardass! -
Ask the Specialists to send a consult report to your Surgeon and PCP.

Denied due to no disabling condition
KristenLe replied to Brenda Sherwood's topic in Insurance & Financing
I think some insurances just deny and hope no one fights it! Tell them you want the policy in writing and file an appeal. Ask your surgeon's office for help. -
Having a glass of wine that her surgeon approved doesn't require a kick in the butt by someone else. I found the multiple posts to be over the top and they had no value at all. I stopped reading the ranting - so if there was something educational for us to get out of it - it didn't come through. Not everyone has the same issues that caused weight gain and we all don't have to follow the same path. If someone enjoyed a glass of wine - good for them! I don't think it will derail her weight loss! We don't need to be yelled and treated like a child for admitting to having a SURGEON approved drink. :-(

Shorter than I thought!

I have said 5'2" forever - I am curious to see if that's truly my height. -
Impressive and inspirational! Happy Anniversary! You look great!

Second guessing choice for sleeve
KristenLe replied to mom2wils's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wasn't asking you @@mom2wils about your starting weight - I'm sorry for the confusion. I'm referring to people who have a BMI of around 30 (without comorbidities) and are getting WLS. One of them weighs 167lbs (highest weight) and I would be happy if that turned out to be my end / goal weight. -

Feeling odd eating at restaurants
KristenLe replied to loyalty_queen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had surgery yet but I've thought alot about this because my BF and I usually go out at least once a week (and enjoy it). I hope at 6 weeks post-op I'm able to go out. I look at the menus now and see what I could order when the time comes -/that may be just a cup of soup for a while. If you're still getting sick at 6 weeks - I'd check in with my surgeon. -
Maybe take one of the people closest to you to a seminar so they can understand better. It's scary for those that love us. Talk to them about why you want surgery and hopefully they'll understand. You need to understand that surgery is just a tool to help you - you have to completely change your lifestyle and eating habits. Get help with any eating issues now -/binging, emotional eating, etc and you'll be successful and get to live a long, healthy and happy life!

I would never think to stop by a friend's house without an invite. Actually, maybe it's just me but I wouldn't want anyone stopping by my house either. They may be waiting for you to reach out first so they know they're not bothering you. Many people don't understand WLS and may feel uncomfortable reaching out to you. If you want company, reach out to one of them. I'm the opposite - especially if I don't feel good - stay away! . I like dogs more than people!

Very few morbidly obese people can lose alot of weight and keep it off without WLS. I can only say - I wish I got my obesity under control at your age! You don't want to go through your 20's and 30's getting heavier and having health issues due to your weight. People who haven't been obese don't understand - and that's often their reaction. Make the decision for yourself not for them! Good luck!

The Great Arse Face Experiment (Or - Does Haemorrhoid Cream really help with your turkey neck?)
KristenLe replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Holy crap - you lost an entire person! What a difference! Congrats - you look great! For what it's worth - the beard does a good job because I can't tell you have a turkey neck! I hope the roid cream works /because I'd like to get rid of my circus lady beard and not have to grow it more after my weight loss! Look forward to seeing the results! -
Good for you!! Congrats I know it's different for everyone but should I even see a gynecologist? I have my doctor appointment for Thursday because I'm tired of not having my period. But my doctor appointment is Monday. I heard that if you have Medicaid you usually get approve for surgery Quickly. I don't know how true that is. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Go to the gyno ... You will have a better chance of being approved with confirmed diagnosis of PCOS. They may be able to put you on meds in the meantime.

Feeling lost without food for comfort
KristenLe replied to Megall9's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm going to counseling to help with emotional eating before my surgery. I am sorry about your husband losing his job - that sucks. It happened to me in 2013 and I was in shock. Things worked out in the end but it's a financial and emotional struggle. Hope things are better soon. Stay strong! -
Yeah - I was surprised to see the responses about it not hurting. My sister has an incredible pain tolerance (she had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and had her husband drive her home from Home Depot so she could lie down) and she complained about the pain and cramping after the Mirena. It will be worth it though.
-
Take your pain pills as prescribed for the next couple of days. Don't let the pain get bad as it's nearly impossible to get caught up with pain relief. Good luck. Sugar free popsicles for your throat!

My Mom has alopecia as well. She's worn a wig my entire life. I didn't realize there were treatments and a possibility of growing hair again. That's very cool.
