    Can I....

No - no nuts or seeds for 4-6 weeks. I assume that's the same for your postop instructions. Seeds and nuts can cause significant complications.

    I got sleeved on 9/14/16

@@cherry22 You need to get enough Protein for healing and weight loss. Your body will start breaking down muscle for protein. In terms of stalling - yes that's perfectly normal and expected with most. You've done great so far - try increasing your protein asap and get enough fluids.
  3. @@mshaw Call them. Sometimes things get put aside when they're busy - I wouldn't hesitate to call.
  4. @@Omieliz I think you have unrealistic expectations to some extent but it doesn't mean you can't lose more than 50-70% of your excess weight. Your surgeon is going to tell you the norm - some lose less - some lose more! I would love to lose 100% of my excess weight but I'm not setting myself up to be disappointed. I have realistic goals and if I can surpass them - bonus! He's not going to set you up to feel like a failure. Try not looking that far ahead - have smaller goals leading up to a bigger goal. You have done great so far - just keep it up! Measure your food - Protein first and avoid foods like Pasta, bread, rice, cake, Cookies, crackers, etc. You are the one in control!
  5. @@madisunshine1 I think that's a good loss- it's really only 2 1/2 months (not even). If you are sticking with the plan - meeting your Protein and Water goals - then this won't be all you've lost. Change things up a bit if you hit a stall - change your exercise, increase protein, increase healthy fats, decrease carbs and see if it helps - but as you know - stalls are common. Be sure to take your Vitamins - that may help combat any sickness. Your immune system is probably a little low.

    Calories per day

@@Yaya B I was not given a calorie limit this early on - they told me to meet Protein and Fluid goals.
  7. @ I would not use one - especially immediately after surgery when you have incisions that need to be kept clean and dry. You also need to avoid squishing your internal organs and most waist trainers would do that.
  8. @@Thick2Fit2 Only 5% of people who lose weight on their own maintain that loss. You might be in that 5% - but for me - I'm not willing to find out. My health issues are to the point that I need to do something about my weight and soon. One thing I've done is to keep a list (ongoing) of all of the things I want to do once I lose weight - and I reference it when I'm doubting myself. You may very well still experience head hunger and cravings - but eating a small amount of something healthy but delicious should satisfy those cravings. The difficult time will be pre-op diet and post-op while you're on liquids or purees. You have to find distractions rather than give in to the cravings. The longer term and side effects are a lot more palatable than the long term complications (including early death) and side effects of my obesity related health issues. I would certainly thing that once you start losing weight you will become more motivated - but you may also need some therapy or help because this journey is difficult and mostly mental rather than physical. We can no longer turn to food to comfort us or provide us with something to do when we're bored. We need to learn how to deal with our eating issues in order to be successful. The sleeve is a tool to help you - but isn't a magic wand. There's a lot of work we have to do ourselves. You've gotten to this point - it's common to have second thoughts - but just remind yourself why you started this journey in the first place and why you want surgery. Good luck!

    Please help any suggestions?!

Because stats show that people who lose on their own have a 5% chance of maintaining that weight loss. Those aren't great odds. To lose weight naturally - you have to decrease calories drastically and to sustain that with normal size stomachs isn't easy. I don't lose weight very easily naturally (unless I starve myself for weeks).
  10. @@vanzimme I'm required to use Bariatric fusion (protein powder) with low-fat milk. They're actually very good. I have been adding some sugar free flavorings or PB2 to them to change things up a bit - but I am on day 8 and still tolerating them.

    October Surgery Buddies

Thank you but they never really gave me instructions on what to eat during pre op. I'm assuming it's just the 3 shakes period?? Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using the BariatricPal App I'd call them and get instructions. I am allowed 5 Bariatric Fusion shakes and 3 snacks of broth, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello and celery. They should have given you clear instructions.
  12. I'm not angry either but I don't need anyone - especially my mother - pointing out that I'm fat.

    Too much food?

@@Ssearle You should be measuring your food and sticking with the recommended portions. Something like yogurt is going to go through your sleeve rapidly - you won't necessarily feel full. The goal isn't to feel full anyway - just satisfied.

    Negative Comments Pre-Surgery

@@NJ Mom They're scared and concerned for you. They don't understand. It's nearly impossible to do this on your own and maintain that loss. You're at a lower BMI than many but you are still considered obese and with comorbidities you are a perfect candidate for WLS. Just try and and explain that to them. My sister is the only one who kind of said something to the effect of why go to that extreme. She just sees me as fat - she doesn't realize all of the medical problems I have from my morbid obesity. She's also a nervous-nelly and something happening to me during surgery is probably her biggest concern.

    Please help any suggestions?!

@@ABarnett916X Are you meeting with a dietician during these six months? Usually - it's 6 months of a supervised weight loss program. I met with the Nutritionist who works in my Bariatric Program. She had me start to eat as I will need to post-op. 5-6 small meals a day - Protein and produce, avoid bread, Pasta, rice, sweets, etc. Cut out all high calorie drinks (soda, juice, specialty coffee drinks, etc.). Use small plates and eat slowly (mindfully) - not in front of TV or driving, etc. Read food labels - make sure you know when there's added sugars - also keep to less than 5 gms of fat / 5 gms of sugar per serving (excluding natural sugars that you'd find in milk products, fruits, etc.). Track your food. Do some exercise - even if it is just walking 15 minutes a day. Good luck!
