    having hard time

My NUT doesn't put much emphasis on calories. Try drinking more fluids if you feel hungry. I was also told to eat 5-6 times a day - very small amounts - protein first. Hang in there!

He offered to hang me upside down... (perhaps some TMI)

    You go girl! I'm jealous!

Stick to protein and water and you'll be okay.

Just got back on track! It's common to stall and if you stick with your plan - the scale will move.

    Blood thinners

They probably checked your PT/INR which indicates bleeding time and didn't feel the need to prescribe any. Be sure to move alot.

    Prediabetic postop?

I have always run around 99-101 and was never DX'd with prediabetes (pre-surgery). I wouldn't be overly concerned. Sometimes medication can alter our blood sugar. Make sure to be fasting 12 hours for your next blood work and ask them to do a Hemoglobin A1c too.

Waking up with low blood sugar

Someone posted something similar happening to him earlier this week. Search reactive hypoglycemia and you will find it. He ended up fainting twice and was in the ER. Here it is. http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/366629-Reactive-Hypoglycemia?

    Pre-Op Diet OMG! I'm Dying!

@@GinaCampbell Drinking only liquids now will be different than post-surgery. Why put yourself through that extra stress when it's not necessary? I believe that's probably why many surgeons don't require the liquid diet. You need to be in a good frame of mind and body for surgery. That's just my opinion...

    Prior Authorization?

Talk to your benefits coordinator or insurance agent! Often times the Reps are wrong - so you need to find out which one gave you the wrong answer.

    Crazy liquid diet

@@findingnish Not sure why some surgeons require it and others don't - but I've heard of surgeons refusing to complete surgery if the person didn't follow the diet. Call your Nutritionist and see if there's anything else you can have.
  11. @@snokb04 You are hitting a 3 week stall. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/351046-embrace-the-stall/ You really can't compare weight loss of others. There's so much to consider - and what you consider "slow" is really not all that slow. 16 lbs in 3 weeks - that's great! Don't be discouraged! Be sure to meet your Protein goals and Water goals and exercise and you will be successful! From your stats - you've already lost before surgery and that plays alot into how much you lose after surgery as well.

    Crazy liquid diet

@@findingnish It's to reduce the risk of complications in surgery because typically obese people have fatty liver disease and the liver is on top of the stomach and needs to be moved for surgery. The liquid diet decreases the size of the liver for surgery. Every program is different - and as @@Christinamo7 indicated sometimes it varies by patient.

    Wellbutrin?

@@OKCPirate Did they do bloodwork? You might want to have your Vitamin D checked. Vit D deficiency can cause some of the depression symptoms. Other vitamin or Iron deficiency can cause the same.

    Scared out of my mind

@@leahhindi It's hard to compare weight loss. Don't be disappointed if you don't lose as much as others (your BMI is lower than many of us). Good luck with your upcoming surgery!
  16. Does GNC have good protein shakes? Coz I have one near by Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I think so. "@@Inner Surfer Girl" might know which one.
  17. Look for high protein low sugar/carbs. I was advised to shoot for under 5 sugars and under 5 fats.
  18. Costco, BJs Wholesale Club and Walmart all have the Premier Protein and it's very reasonably priced. You could probably order it online.
  19. I would go to a Bariatric Program that is comprehensive and includes the entire Team (Psych, Nutritionist, Surgeon) and after meeting with them - you can all decide what's best for you. It will depend on your current medical issues and eating habits.

    Scared out of my mind

Drink more water (non caloric drinks). I wouldn't worry about weight loss during pre-op unless you were given a requirement of pounds to lose. The purpose is to shrink your liver by reducing the glycogen stored.
  21. Ensure is loaded with sugars - it's not a good choice for Bariatric patients. That could definitely be causing dumping. Premier Protein is a good option - 30 gms protein and very little fat or sugar! Ensure (original) has 6gms fat, 33 carbs and only 9 gms protein. I am surprised your surgeon said it was okay.

    1 Year Post Op Failure

Try the 5 day Pouch Test! It's not over - just get back to the basics! Also - I recommend this book - read it again if you've already read it! https://www.amazon.com/Emotional-First-Aid-Kit-Practical-ebook/dp/B0054RXXS0?ie=UTF8&btkr=1&redirect=true&ref_=dp-kindle-redirect
  25. @@CowgirlJane I was lucky to have a Psychiatrist who was part of my Bariatric Team. I think that would be helpful to many. I asked for additional counseling for emotional eating so I can get all the tools I can before surgery. That psychologist is also part of the Team (as is the Nutritionist). I'm realizing after reading alot of these threads that what I considered overeating is nothing compared to some others. I have alot less issues than I thought - but they need to be dealt with prior to surgery. I'm glad I have a team of folks working with me on the same goals.
