    Rice? Pasta? Bread?

I had my 2nd NUT appointment today and asked her what foods I'll need to avoid post-op. She said pasta, bread and rice - not because of the carbs but more because they swell in your stomach. (So she said).
  2. @@fytn4mine I had my NUT appointment today (#2) and found out I don't have to do the 6 months of supervised weight loss like I was originally told by BCBS. I am looking at September too - can't wait!

    4 wk post-op

    Woohoo! Great job!
  4. You shouldn't have a limit to how much water or non caloric drinks you have. Try taking a PPI to reduce stomach acid. Also - try liquids at different temps. Feel better!
  5. Obesity Action Coalition has some great info about appealing. Get a letter from your PCP too.

    NSV WEDNESDAY?

"@@James Marusek" Nice car! Maybe after I lose weight my reward will be a little convertible! :-)

Wow - you look great! Congrats!
  8. @@RaptorWitch Great loss! Congrats!
  9. Well I lost a whopping 1 lb in a month! :-( But I also got some good news - I don't have a 6 month supervised diet requirement as I was originally told by BCBS!!! It looks like my preferred date of August or September is looking good!

    Second NUT appointment

@@smg Thank you for your encouragement. My NUT said I was doing good and weight loss right now doesn't matter as long as I'm eating the right foods.

    Second NUT appointment

I could get nothing from Blue Cross other than a verbal that I needed 6 month supervised diet. they told me yesterday that the surgeon's office would have to see what my requirement was. When I went today the nutritionist said put the insurance coordinator at the practice I didn't have to wait 6 months. I'm in RI

    Cpap machine

I would be careful wearing it during the day - they can see the times worn. It's like Big Brother - I used to get texts from mine saying I hadn't worn it for 2 days (I went away and didn't take it). I don't think you will wear during surgery but after in recovery and post-op.

    4 WEEKS POST OP

"Only 18 pounds in a month"??? When have you been able to do that before? I'm pre-surgery and headed to my NUT this morning for my 2nd appt and have lost nothing (and have been dieting). 18 lbs in a month is a great success! If you're following the plan and getting your protein and water - you're not doing anything wrong. It seems that with that loss - you're doing things properly!
  16. Low carb - high protein. My Nutritionist has me on 50% protein / 50% produce pre-surgery. Only non-caloric drinks. Best of luck!

    Frustrated

That's great progress. If you feel like you are retaining water -/watch your sodium (often high in low cal prepared foods) and drink more water. Don't compare yourself to others - you lost 39 lbs in 4 months - that's awesome!

    Cpap machine

I wear mine. I didn't use it Sunday night and slept like crap. It took about a week to get used to the mask. They will cancel your surgery - so you have to suck it up.

    48 surgery June 3, 2016

@@AmysShrinking I have to go thru 6 months of a supervised weight loss program first (only got 1 month under my belt). I'm hoping for September.

Nothing to speed up weightloss like divorce

I'm very sorry. If I were to guess - it started before your surgery. Stay strong - you'll get through this! Hugs to you and your kids!
  21. Not all surgeon's require a pre-op diet. Call and find out if you're supposed to be following one. Most often it is given to shrink the liver before surgery because the liver is near stomach.
  22. @@minihaha Because many obese people have obstructive sleep apnea - and that can cause a greater risk with anesthesia.

Maybe it's a stomach bug but you need to get seen or you'll end up dehydrated.
