  1. You may not be getting enough calories. Concentrate on getting in all your protein and water - it'll come off. 500 calories is not alot at your stage and your body may be in starvation mode and doesn't want to part with the extra weight/fat.

    May 6th Sleeve

@@CSouth Glucerna doesn't have enough protein compared to sugars/calories. I would go with a high protein / low sugar shake like Premier Protein or Muscle Milk 100.
  3. Good question. I'm putting away Winter clothes today and with not having a surgery date yet - I'm reluctant to get rid of anything.

    Ulcers on my stomach

They will have to heal before surgery. You should also address the cause - so you don't have issues post surgery.

    Need suggestions... Please

What is allowed on your plan? Are you on clear liquids or full liquids? The constipation is common - especially if you're taking any pain pills.
  7. I don't think enough to make a difference. See what a plastic surgeon says - this surgery may include the area you need without involving muscles.

    Same mindset...help

@@beylove if you could figure out how to make that happen with surgery - you'd be a billionaire! . Honestly - WLS is just a tool - you have to do the work! You should not be eating as you did in the past or your sleeve won't work. Follow your Program - it's really important! You could end up with significant complications.
  10. Be sure to take a PPI - the hunger pains might be acid. Congrats to all! Stay strong!

    Steady weight

It doesn't matter - you need to get protein and water.
  12. It appears to be skin removal in the abdomen but from comment above it is not a full tummy tuck (which includes muscle tightening and moving the belly button).

    Why Protein Shakes?

If she couldn't give you a valid reason for making this change - I don't think I'd do it.

    Why Protein Shakes?

There are Protein Shakes with little sugar (Premier) but I don't know why you'd NEED to do shakes (unless there's Vitamins etc in them). Did she give you a reason?

    Steady weight

What was your recommended diet? It seems as though you should be eating more frequently (but I'm pre-surgery still). My NUT said 5-6 very small meals with about 3 hours in between (concentrate on protein first) and at least 64ozs fluids (non caloric). You might not be able to eat that much ...not sure at 6 weeks post-op.

    Cpap machine

@@VeroN86 Look at the "Ramp" setting on your machine and set it so you gradually get up to the pressure set. That helped me get used to it faster. Also - make sure your humidifier setting is on and adjust for comfort. Have you heard from the sleep clinic about your usage? I used to get calls all the time and even texts when I hadn't used it one night (kind of creepy "they" know). How many times per hour did you have an apnea event? That's where mild/moderate/severe is. Your 52 # must have been total - where the 18 was probably per hour. Over 30 per hour is severe.

    Liquids After Surgery

Did your surgeon give you anything for nausea? If not - you may want to ask for something. It's so important to get your fluids in - or you'll get dehydrated (which I'm sure you know). You could also try taking an acid reducer to see if that helps but you may need something like Zofran for nausea. The other thing to try is drinking liquids at different temps and see if that causes less problems. Some can tolerate cold while others need room temp or warm. Hope you feel better soon. Don't hesitate to contact your surgeon if you don't get any better.

    Compare Before and After…Your Kitchen!

I'm still pre-surgery but I don't think mine will look much different. I usually buy lots of healthy foods and our refrigerator is stocked with yogurt, meat, fruits, veggies. My cupboards have a lot of Beans, diced tomatoes, tuna). However, my boyfriend is a sweet eater and snack eater (chips) and those items are in my kitchen now - and will be afterwards. Luckily - I can live with those things in our house without wanting them myself. I just need my kitchen organized so I can prepare meals easily and can see what's in my fridge and freezer.
  21. @@Rvamom How much Protein did they suggest as your daily goal? I would think that if you can tolerate the Protein shake it would be beneficial to drink another one - but I would also drink as much Water (or other non-caloric drinks). You can also have sugar free popsicles, broth, de-caf tea, crystal light to get your fluids in. Good luck!

    newbie here with some questions

@@nothingmoreorless That's very odd your insurance only covers LapBand. My surgeon doesn't recommend LapBand due to 50-60% of people require a secondary surgery due to complications. It is also the lowest % of weight loss option. What insurance plan do you have?
