  1. I was told to wait 3 hours in-between eating. I don't know if that was so I don't end up grazing or if it's because it takes that long to digest.

@@charley27 If you haven't already - ask your insurance what their requirements are to be approved (what do you need before the prior authorization will be given) and get it in writing. This information has been the most problematic for me.

@@charley27 My first appointment with the surgeon I had gone in thinking I wanted LapBand so we discussed that and he recommended Sleeve instead. I hadn't done as much research on sleeve so I asked some questions about recovery time (specifically how long he recommends being out of work), weight loss expected, complications, etc. He went over my medical history and eating habits. I didn't ask the surgeon all that many questions - but once I met with the Nutritionist I had alot of questions for her.
  7. @@SusanB55 It could be low potassium - but it could also be a number of other things that you need to discuss with your surgeon. Hope you feel better soon! Keep us posted as to what your surgeon thinks is going on!
  8. @@CanadaLoser I haven't had surgery but have read several people that have had similar issues. Do you have anything to take for nausea. If not - I'd ask your Dr. for something so you can at least get your fluids in before you get dehydrated. Hopefully someone who has been through this can comment on what to do from a food perspective. Good luck.

I would do some research online if you haven't already. Here's a good start... https://asmbs.org/patients/bariatric-surgery-procedures Learn about each procedure and you will be more prepared to ask the surgeon questions as they pertain to you. My Program required me to do the information session first (group session) before being scheduled with the surgeon. They reviewed alot of information in that session and I did a lot of prior research before my surgeon appointment.

    Omg! Omg! TMI alert!

You must not have seen the warnings..."Never trust a fart!". I'm sorry this happened but I did get a laugh. I've had GI issues in the past and we call that a Poopy 911. My boyfriend and I were driving home from vacation (4 hr drive) and about an hour in my stomach hurt. I asked him to pull off the highway to find a bathroom and within what felt like seconds - it was too late. I shit myself sitting in my car in front of a convenience store. Luckily I had clothes and a beach towel in the car and wrapped myself up and waddled to the bathroom. Not fun but we still laugh about it!

What kind of shakes? Premier Protein have 30gms each and low sugar. If you can drink 2 now - 2 of them would double your protein for the day!

    October List of Surgery's

@@anewme2015 You want to have healthy carbs (that are in veggies and fruit). My nutritionist recommends a meal be 50% protein / 50% produce. There's absolutely no shame in getting help - I'm going to counseling for emotional eating pre-surgery to get all the Tools possible to be successful after surgery. If you are feeling depressed - talk to your PCP about it - they may want to run some blood work to make sure all is well (vitamin deficiencies can cause depression symptoms). Good luck!

Is there a way to break a stall

@@perfectlyimperfect44 I am not an expert by any means but I think that amount of calories is too low for 4 1/2 months out. You may want to kick it up a little. Get some Protein powder and mix with Water, crystal light, etc. or get some protein water so it counts towards your water and protein. You have done tremendous so far (loss of 105 lbs) so be proud of yourself and just keep working at it.

    Rant: Rude people!

@@needtorecover I also recommend thrift stores. I just go a nearly new pair of 7even (LB) jeans at Salvation Army for $6.00. I am not a belt wearer either - and even now pre-surgery - I have an issue with my favorite Levi's falling down. I'm sure you'll be in the lower size in no-time. Congrats on your success so far!

    How to start losing before

I agree with @@heidikat72 Meal planning and prepping is critical to my success too. I bring all of what I'll need during the day at work - and drink Water constantly (forgot to mention that one above - but you need to drink alot of non-caloric drinks. I usually do much better if I have something ready and planned for dinner - or I tend to fall back on the quick carb filled choices. Of course, I've been on this "diet" for going on 6 weeks and only lost a pound (but my nutritionist wasn't concerned about that - I don't have a weight loss requirement).

    How to start losing before

@"sunshine 75" Have you had an appointment with your Nutritionist yet? They should work with you on a plan pre-surgery. Here's what I was told: - Eat every 3 hours (5-6 small meals) - Meals should be 50% Protein/50% Produce - Use small plates to get used to smaller portions - Eat slowly and be mindful of how, what, when you eat - avoid emotional eating - don't eat while driving or in front of TV - start or continue to exercise (even just walking) - no pasta, bread or rice - read labels. All foods should have less than 5gms sugar and 5 gms fat (know your sugars - some food like fruit and veggies have sugars but they're OK to eat on my plan) My NUT doesn't expect me to be perfect with this but it prepares me for eating post surgery.
