Not losing weight in first weeks after surgery
KristenLe replied to simplyjustme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Definitely. Your body is in starvation mode - you need more protein and fluids. Hang in there. -
Ulcers on my stomach

Ulcers on my stomach
KristenLe replied to Autumn Riley Arnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think they'll deny you for that - I imagine the most that could happen would be a delay. Hang in there. -
You may need to increase your calories if working out that much. Good loss so far!

@@TammyL323 There are very few people who have perfect bodies. If you have only met men that expect perfection - then you need to branch out. I met my boyfriend weighing 270lbs - not all men are shallow. Congrats on your weight loss!! Flaunt what you've got - and have the attitude that you are perfect for someone!

My Dr suggested 4 weeks and since I'm able to - that's what I'm taking.

Thanks @@OutsideMatchInside Wishful thinking! :-( I was going to ask about blood tests to check for food allergies to see if I still have one. I'd be so excited to be able to eat shrimp and lobster again.

Weight regain sleeve vs. bypass
KristenLe replied to P7rancher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My surgeon recommended the sleeve - he said I may not lose as quickly but I should be able to lose as much as I need to in 12-18 months. I'm okay with that. I'd rather lose slower and not have to deal with malabsorption. My Team feels I need restriction only. I'm going to my 1st group next week so I'll be curious to hear from some of the post-op folks. -
May 16th surgery buddies?.....Let's do this together!

@@cheerios45 Pizza is my kryptonite! My therapist asked me what food do I feel like I have to eat - it's pizza! I'm still pre-surgery but already thinking of recipes to eat at least pizza like food post-op. She suggested pizza toppings in a Portobello mushroom (sounded damn good)! -
Has anyone heard of food allergies going away after WLS? I know it's probably a stupid question but I am allergic to shrimp which means I also avoid lobster & crab and it sucks! I didn't development the allergy until I was in my 20's.

2 MONTHS OUT HARDLY NO WEIGHT LOSS[emoji26]
KristenLe replied to Christina_rny.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry you're feeling the 3 D's! :-( I know it doesn't matter to hear it but what you've lost so far in excellent! As long as you get all your protein, water and vitamins the weight will come off! Try to break your "stall" by changing things up a bit - more protein, more water, a different type of exercise. And walking is good - your Dr sounds like a bitch! Hang in there - you're doing great! -

Week 1 post op but can stomach solids...
KristenLe replied to Aimee-Belle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not only feeling sick that is a concern for eating solids - you have a large incision and staples in your stomach that can catch a piece of food and cause serious complications - you can also develop an obstruction. Please don't "test" your sleeve. I'd hate for you to have complications. -
How much post-surgical pain should I expect?
KristenLe replied to leebick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had WLS yet but I can't imagine it could be worse than the gallbladder pain I had before needing emergency surgery. Holy crap - if I had a sharp knife handy I would have considered taking my gallbladder out myself. I ended up staying overnight in the hospital and had one incision that was an issue (it had to be larger due to size of infected gallbladder) but I don't remember being in that much pain. I am fairly pain tolerant. I also had a similar experience as @@kmorri after surgery to repair a leg fracture - they misread my pain meds order and didn't give me any post-op. The pain was really bad and it took a while for meds to catch up. -
