    Going down...

@@SWEETTEA Congrats on your loss. If you are concerned about losing too much - you could try upping your calorie intake (slowly so you can see where you'd be to maintain). I'm still pre-surgery but I get where you are coming from with not wanting to lose too much.

    Meals with a beverage

@@moppet I think this is a long term change.
  4. @@living55 I wonder if you have a different/distorted view of what you actually look like. Maybe this is something that counseling will help with. I would seek counseling to discuss your body image issues before contemplating plastic surgery. Congrats on a job well done!
  5. @@rgme1983 Both surgeries require significant lifestyle changes. Sweet tea probably may not be an option with either - so whatever you decide, you may want to consider eliminating this from your diet in the future. It can derail your weight loss plan.

    Plateau and Diet Fatigue

@@Wayward Traveler These "Why bother" feelings have plagued me pre-surgery. I'm trying and lost 1lb in my first month. My therapist (going to her for emotional eating and these exact types of self sabotaging behavior) has me keeping a list of the "Why Bother" answers and leaving the list where I'll see it (even suggested putting it as my phone background). Maybe that's something that would help. Congrats on your success so far!
  7. @@her1981 Have you tried going up a little on your calories - you actually may not be getting enough. You're doing great so far - so congrats!

    SHBP does not cover surgery

@@mssonya84 As others have said - don't take one person at BCBS word for it. Call and ask them for your coverage info. Alot of times the plan will say Weight Loss isn't covered but Bariatric Surgery is. Also ask for info from the benefits coordinator through your our husband's employer. Good luck!

    Weight gain pre-op

Lemon water - no salt/sodium at all. Good luck!
  13. @@haleymarie I would not have stuffing (bread of any kind should be avoided at this point). You can have mashed potatoes but remember they have no Protein and you should really try to eat protein first. There's a few things you can have - hummus, cottage cheese, the taco dip @@Christinamo7 gave the recipe too (yum!), refried Beans (with cheese/sour cream), scrambled eggs (creamy), sugar free pudding, etc.

    CPAP Machine

@@2bsleeved26 Mild sleep Apnea doesn't always require a CPAP. I would find out if there is a requirement for the CPAP before you start to panic. BUT - if there is - many surgeons will require you to be using it faithfully for 30 days before surgery and will cancel if you haven't. I believe someone else on this forum had their surgery cancelled until she is compliant with her CPAP.

    Weight gain pre-op

@@betterme38 I don't have a weight loss requirement but I have seen people on this forum have their surgery cancelled if they didn't lose enough.
  16. I don't believe you should be lifting anything at 7 days post-op. What were your post-op instructions?

    Hives and itchy skin

@@thundermama You should definitely discuss with your surgeon or PCP. There's the Ketosis Rash but this could be non-surgery related as well.
  18. @@gina171 I would decline as well. They usually assign Care Managers for High Risk/Complicated patients (insurances consider high cost - high risk). I don't see there would be any benefit to you at all in this situation. I wouldn't hesitate to ask them if declining the Care Manager was going to put your approval in jeopardy (I don't believe that would be legal when you have the coverage). Nurse Care Managers can be very helpful when you have barriers to care or for self management education for a chronic disease - I don't see how they would be helpful in this case - other than to drive you mad!
  19. @@CelesteMarie As @@OutsideMatchInside said above - please stop eating popcorn this early out. A kernel of corn could cause serious problems with healing and you could have complications. It's really important to follow your plan - not only for weight loss but so you don't have complications.

It depends on your insurance, surgeon and your particular situation.

    Getting Called Fat After WLS

What a pr$%k! My God - is he mentally challenged that he doesn't realize that's unacceptable?? That's something a 12 year old boy may say to a girl on the playground!

    Lactose?

Sometimes low fat creamy soups have more sugar than you might be able to tolerate. Be sure to check labels.
  23. I would think you need more fluids. Not to get personal but have you had a BM? You might be constipated.

@@brittanylau Much of what you are feeling is hormonal. What kind of foods do you like and what stage are you on? Maybe someone will have some good suggestions (unless your favorite food is pasta and cake). I would also encourage you to get some counseling - it really helps to work thru emotional eating and finding ways to cope with cravings. Stay strong!!!
