  1. Nutritionists are just people who took some classes about nutrition - and depending on the beliefs of the person teaching or the nutritionist themselves (I have known many who are clueless) - they educate patients on diet and nutrition. I don't know why people assume they are the Gods of nutrition and Bariatric surgery diet plans. Not all advice from NUTs is good advice! Your body and brain needs more than 300-450 calories to function properly. It would also be very difficult to get enough protein from food at that calorie intake. Your Nutritionist is doing a disservice by suggesting you keep your calories that low.

    WEAK AND TIRED

@@amysmara Please get some protein water or unflavored protein powder and mix with water - you will end up very ill if you don't get any nutrients. I would not wait until Friday to speak to your surgeon.
  3. "@@Lori Anderson" Your loss may slow or stall but as long as you're following your plan - you will lose. How much Protein are you getting? How about calories? Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App
  4. I would keep trying different things. You could make your own Protein shakes. Creamed Soups, hummus, refried Beans with cheese & sour cream, ricotta bake. I was told to eat 5-6 small meals with 3 hours in between. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App
  5. @ Be careful with baby food - my NUT doesn't recommend it because it's not as Protein rich and often has hidden sugars. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App
  6. What stage are you on? Get some Protein powder or Isopure Protein drinks - that may be more tolerable. Can you have eggs or Beans yet? How about tuna? Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    Odd Jittery Feeling..

My plan recommends good carbs. Glad you are feeling better.

    Eating out

Chili's has a delicious 6oz sirloin with asparagus for when you can eat that. Take 1/2 home.

    I'm torn..

My surgeon has recommended the sleeve and I will hopefully be going in that direction unless something happens between now and surgery. I didn't want malabsorption issues or dumping. I am not a sweet eater and only need restriction.

    Life with CPAP

It could be dehydration or you may need the settings adjusted if you've lost weight.

    A truly lousy couple months

Prayers for you and your friend's family!
  15. I have similar scars from gall bladder surgery and it was never brought up. Although - if I was single and in a serious relationship post WLS - I'd tell the person. It's an important part of my medical history. I certainly wouldn't make something up.

    PCOS question

I know from reading that your periods will be more regular. I didn't realize the discoloration was PCOS related actually so I hope that improves.

    Pcos vs. Cushing's

I have all the symptoms of Cushing's but my cortisol tests were normal. I never did 24hr urine though. Hopefully your tests will be negative.
  18. I don't have a pre-op right before surgery. I'm trying to eat post-op like before surgery but with 3 months to go I will most likely have days where I enjoy food I won't be able to have for a while post op. Pizza is one of them - already thinking of alternatives post-op.
  19. @@applejenn Please go to be safe.

1st day blended - low grade fever

May have been a little dehydrated.
  21. You need to call BC about your specific plan and get it in writing. They have been notoriously difficult for many of us (not only NJ).

1st day blended - low grade fever

I would call just to be safe. Fluids are really important now especially.
  23. Increase calories - try some good carbs and good fats! It's not a problem I ever envision having - but I imagine it's not good!
  24. They will ask you diet history, obesity history, eating disorders, and alot about what you know about the surgery from before, during and after and support systems.
  25. Eating habits, anxiety and depression screenings, family history.
