Cheating on day 6 post op
KristenLe replied to DebraM04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@LisaMergs no... Sept hopefully -
You have to eat - protein is critical. I'm sure that's the reason for not having energy. If you have to - have a protein shake but you should be getting protein from food. You must not be getting alot of calories either and that will screw up your metabolism.
-
That's normal. If you have a temp or worse pain - call your surgeon.
-
@@Basicwitch That's a fair amount of sugars for a protein shake. Just be sure to consider that.
-
@@angelb429 Try fluids at different temps - hot, warm, room temp, cold - and see any are more tolerable. Get some G2 or Vitamin Water Zero and sip that (you probably need electrolytes), sugar free popsicles or jello. Just do what you can to get in fluids. Please be careful if you go back to work - we don't want you back in the hospital!

Liquid diet begins....
KristenLe replied to apmcleish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Hayleyhehe There's so much you can eat for variety. Grill some chicken breasts and make a chicken salad or cut up and have it with peppers & onions or mushrooms and have with cheese & sour cream like fajitas minus the tortilla. Try black beans with cheese, tuna salad, string cheese, ground beef or turkey patty with mushrooms and avocado, etc. I prepare meals on Sunday so I'm ready for the week (breakfast & lunch anyway). There are some great recipes on Pinterest too. -
It may be related to ketosis. Do you have a rash or just itchy? I was so itchy last night I took 2 Benadryl before bed. I think it was diet related.
-
Pre-op or post op? And if post-op - what food stage?
-
What did your surgeon recommend to help? Try getting some protein powder and mixing with fluids and just continually sip all day long. It doesn't sound like you should be returning to work until you can get in your protein and fluids.

May 24 Surgery Day
KristenLe replied to LoveMyBypass's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Sean... I'm with you!! I started phase 3 on Thursday. Since I can't have enough Protein with food. I drink my protein for breakfast. From 8am-12pm I sip my protein shake. 64 grams of protein and about 17 ounces of liquid. Then I begin my Water. I have the water throughout the day. I have something for lunch usually 4 ounces that I space out in an hour. So far these last 3 days I've had, mashed potatoes, yesterday, refried Beans and today I had cottage cheese. All three were about 6-8 tbsp. I don't know when I'm full yet because I don't know what it feels like. My brain wants to keep eating but I stop myself at 8 tbsp. For dinner I sip on some soup that I had already prepared during phase 2. This way, I have the full 64 oz of liquids AND my protein. It's so hard to decipher when I'm full because I don't feel it yet. But I do feel that I'm not hungry. I hope this helped a bit. It's unlikely you will feel full on puree food stage. Measure out the amount recommended by you plan. -
@@steph1514 Go back to basics. Pack a little cooler to bring to work. For a snack - you could pack a greek yogurt, cheese sticks, some almonds, a protein shake, a protein bar, etc. For your "lunch" - pack some grilled chicken, veggies, chicken salad, scrambled eggs with cheese, crustless quiche muffins. Is Subway in your Walmart? Are they open at that hour - you could get a salad with meat/protein. You can pack anything - it just takes time to prepare and make sure you have good options. I would also recommend therapy to deal with the old eating habits.

Oz of fluid in outshine popsicles?
KristenLe replied to Beck90's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
@@Beck90 I love them too. I don't think the small amount of fluids they provide make much difference but they are good. I just bought Zipsicles to make my own with a little less sugar/carbs. https://zipzicles.com/ -
2 months post-op ! Green smoothie cleanse?

I would be very careful that you tolerate it before drinking too much. -
How long does the pain last?
KristenLe replied to kjmorris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@kjmorris Take your pain meds as prescribed and if you didn't get any - call your surgeon. Move as much as possible - it's important to prevent blood clots. -
Traveling to Mexico for surgery
KristenLe replied to lovemyself's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@lovemyself Ask your surgeon if you will need blood thinners post op as that is a long flight. You may also want to wear compression stockings. Good luck. -
That's amazing!!

There are a few new Nitro beers that have less carbonation. I haven't had beer in a while (pre-surgery) only because it's too filling but there's always that time you want a nice cold beer. I am really hoping I can tolerate Bloody Mary's post-op. ????

Exercise Evaluation
KristenLe replied to charmming's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think this is used for patients that aren't active at all pre-op and may have some barriers to certain exercise. It's to make sure the person is properly exercising and won't hurt themselves. I haven't had my Eval yet and not sure I will but welcome it. -
Just had my 2 year anniversary- willing to help mentor
KristenLe replied to PittGuy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Your body thinks you are starving so it hangs onto the fat. Too few calories will stall your weight loss and screw up your metabolism. You need to get more protein and healthy carbs (fruit and veggies) and healthy fat. Eat more often - 5-6 small meals. Add a protein shake if you can't eat enough to get your protein. -
Worst mistake of my life?

Am I losing enough weight post-op?
KristenLe replied to JustSleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't understand where some of these expectations come from. 30 lbs in a month??? When I was asked my expectations during my Psych Eval i said I'd be happy with 50lbs in 6 months. I can't even fathom 30 lbs in one month. That's completely unrealistic. -
Don't hesitate to call surgeon. Hope you feel better soon.
