    HAIR LOSS

@@malvarez1210 In my research, I have found that it can last a few months and sometimes longer. Be sure to be kind to your hair, get your Protein and Vitamins in and just go with it - from what I'm told nothing will stop it.

    HAIR LOSS

Many experience hair loss - you seem right on time and it can last a few months. It does grow back.
  3. I got conflicting information too. I hope my surgeon is right and I don't need 6 month supervised diet but I'm not getting my hopes up until auth is approved. Ask for benefits in writing from insurance.

    Sugar free ice cream?

Is there such a thing or aren't they no sugar added? Too many calories...and a slider.

    One month out

@@brittanylau You could add some veggies and fruits or healthy fats (avocado). My plan recommends protein/produce. Add a high Protein snack but avoid processed meats (too much sodium). Stick with grilled chicken, fish, greek yogurt (watch the sugar content), cheese, tuna, etc for protein. My NUT told me I should be eating 5-6 times a day - with about 3 hours in between - focusing on protein and then produce (veggies, fruit, sweet potato). Of course, I'm still pre-surgery so don't know how I will do either. Stay off the scale, take your measurements and keep on plan - you'll be fine!

    Sugar

When reviewing with my NUT - she told me to look for sugars and fat less than 5 in a serving. We didn't get into a total per day. I'm pre-op and encouraged to have fruits and vegetables. I could stay within that amount daily if added sugars.
  7. @@jembell01 It's good you're getting back on track - you would definitely start to gain if not.

    Sugar

All sugars aren't created equal. Is she referring to added sugars or naturally occurring sugars?
  9. @@duckydoom From what I've read - there's no sure fire way of preventing hair loss. I think it is either going to happen or not going to happen. I plan on doing everything possible to avoid it but not going to stress about it. My Mom has alopecia and has worn a wig for my entire life - so I've been researching this since day one. From what I've found - it does grow back at least.

@@Desirevsg Welcome. There's a thread for June sleevers. You may find someone who has the same date or similar there. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/368993-june-surgery-day/

    At Long Last!

@@SarahM76 I wouldn't kennel him. It may be too stressful for him. If your son's can help you I think your dog will be fine. I just think I'd rather my dogs home with me or I'd worry too much.

You may not be getting enough calories. Try changing things around. It could be too much sodium or even your period causing water retention. Hang in there!

    10 month surgiversary

You've done great. Try and shake things up a bit and maybe your body will stop holding on to fat.

    One month out

It is most likely water weight. It's near impossible to gain 4lbs of fat unless you're drinking ice cream shakes all day. It's possible you're not eating enough. How much protein are you getting? What are you eating?
  17. @@jessi29 You're feeling this way mainly because of hormones. It's not good to compare yourself to others - but especially a man - they always lose much faster! Hopefully you are comfortable with speaking honestly with your SO about your feelings. I am sure they are unwarranted. This will open doors for you both - and by communicating and being honest with each other - hopefully you'll be going through the doors together. Please talk to your Bariatric Team about this feeling - you may just need some medication to get you through the rough period or at the very least counseling/therapy. There's no need to go through this on your own.
  18. @@GemJar Introducing carbs is different than eating rice. You want healthy carbs - veggies, fruits, etc. I was told to avoid rice, bread and Pasta - long term.

    Frustrated

Don't give up!!! I would also question this requirement and ask for it in writing. I was initially told this and then told it wasn't required.
  20. @@♥dreamable From a pre-surgery perspective - I didn't say "Hey - by the way - I am fatter than you might think and I look really bad naked" so I wouldn't mention the sagging skin post-surgery. I think if I was serious with someone - I would tell them about my surgery though (without mentioning the skin) when the time feels right. It's doubtful they will care about the sagging skin - and if they do - they are superficial DBs and you need to kick them to the curb anyway.

Approval for Aetna with a BMI between 36 & 37

What are the requirements for coverage with your plan? Do you have to only have 1 comorbity with a BMI 35-40? If so - hypertension should count. Get your plan requirements in writing from Aetna.

Ask your surgeon. It all depends on your particular case.

    Hernia repair program

@@parhtx Are you sure they don't mean they don't do sleeve during a hernia surgery because of coverage issues? I wouldn't think any surgeon would just do a sleeve if your insurance doesn't cover it. Keep calling until you get answers.
  24. @@Katrinakit thats good - mixing up your exercise might help. Good luck at your appointment this week.
