  1. I have similar stats and my surgeon recommended the sleeve. I don't want the malabsorption part either. I think you know what direction to go in - just follow that.

    Dreaded 3-week stall?

@@EvilTwin Everyone stalls at 3 weeks. Try to change things up a bit. But - 25lbs lost is a lot.

Ensure Enlive has a lot of sugar! Is there a reason you're drinking that brand?

    Hard Boiled Eggs

I saw this done recently and was surprised. Never knew that was possible.
  5. @@_bribri1001 It is probably a better idea to learn to eat healthy and not rely on diet pills. This is the time you should be working on your eating habits and emotional eating / mindless eating. Stress will always be around - you have to find other ways of dealing with it rather than eating. It's important that you get this under control prior to surgery. Go to counseling/therapy during your pre-op waiting period.
  6. Only have 50 lbs to lose - gets WLS and is now eating ice cream 2 weeks post-op because it's the only thing they can keep down! WTF!

    It has been difficult

@ No one is judging you. I'm working with a therapist on emotional eating - pre-surgery. I have found it very helpful. This is a struggle that most of us go through.

    May 24 Surgery Day

@@Lindsey Skinner Abbott That is so incredibly scary!!! I'm so glad you went to the hospital! Stay strong! Continued prayers!
  9. @@Tcisme I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Hopefully you are in counseling and getting help emotionally.
  10. @@cindyw41 I had a vertigo reaction to a vitamin. Try logging any symptoms and what you've had around those times. It could be a magnesium deficiency - do they check those values?
  11. @@Tcisme Did you have an eating disorder before surgery or just since?

    Pre-Op Weight

Just about everyone has different requirements. I wasn't given a goal to lose prior to surgery. Many others have had to lose 10% of their weight.
  13. KristenLe

    Surgery was 6/6/16

With fluids or food? Try drinking fluids at different temps to see if you tolerate one over the other. Take your time - you still have significant swelling.

    It has been difficult

You need to get help with emotional eating. Your sleeve will work for you in limiting your intake now but it does nothing to control head hunger and you'll be able to eat more eventually. It's important to change your eating habits before then.

    Insurance help

Contact a Bariatric Program that meets your insurance requirements. They usually have a seminar that you will need to attend first. Find out requirements and take it from there.

    Surgery day!

@@pr_pitbullgrl You are not sickly skinny! You look great! Try not to let others get in your head!
  17. You could try the pouch reset. Good luck!
  18. @@achappex3 I go up and down 5 lbs during the week but thankfully still lower than my first NUT visit. My 3rd appointment is next week and I'm going to be very careful in what I eat and drink plenty of water until I weigh in. My NUT is great though and said this is not about losing weight right now. It's about learning better eating habits. Just do the best you can and stay hydrated so you don't retain water. I know it's discouraging - I lost only 1 lb my first month and was quite upset. Stay strong! You can do this! Oh and be sure to wear light weight clothes and shoes at weigh in! :-)
  19. My NUT told me not to worry about losing BUT I can see why they wouldn't want you to gain. The purpose of this time is to learn proper eating habits so they feel you will be successful post-op. I would strongly encourage you to stick with high protein/ low carb (and only healthy carbs). Cut out caloric/sugary drinks (soda, sweet tea, juice). Concentrate on eating 5-6 small meals - 3 hours in between. 50% Protein/ 50% Produce. Skip bread, pasta and rice. No snacks like popcorn, chips, etc. Watch sugar content - less than 5 in a serving (less than 5 gms fat too). You may not lose alot (I'm not) but you definitely shouldn't gain. You need to make significant changes now. Track everything and show NUT what you're eating. Weigh daily and see if you can find a pattern of loss/gain. Avoid sodium. Protein shakes can be good - watch the sugar content!

Weight gain at 3 Years Post Op - WHAT TO DO?

@@stefaniwg How many calories do you get? I am pre-surgery so I could he wrong but maybe you need more protein and some healthy fats. Be sure to watch sodium levels. Track your food and weigh yourself daily to see what may be going on.
  21. It also depends on your BMI and the surgeon too. Many surgeon's require weight loss before surgery (often 10%). You need to ask the Bariatric Team what the goal of the medically supervised program is. Some plans will waive it with a high BMI.
  22. KristenLe

    Low BMI

@ He sounds confident so go with that and don't worry.

    Surgery day!

You really look incredible! Stop worrying about a number on the scale or a pants size. Stop stressing and enjoy your new life! Be careful not to get obsessed with losing more - and watch the alcohol (that can derail you).

    Low BMI

What are your other medical conditions? That will most likely determine if approved.
  25. It is very important that you notify them before surgery.
