Pain and bloating. Is it normal?
KristenLe replied to Dayita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 days post-op. I think walking and moving is most helpful. Try a heating pad as well. Concentrate on fluids so you don't become dehydrated. See about adding Tylenol to your meds. Stay strong! -
Mine sounded like Chewbacca was in my stomach. Today - he's been joined by Sasquatch and they're very talkative. Lol It's very annoying! I'm pretty sure it's all normal.

3 days post op 49 yrs old & would like some friends
KristenLe replied to sherie1967's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's very normal - it's from all the hormones being released by burning fat. I got mine 3 days post-op too. It's heavier than usual - probably due to hormones and the blood thinners I am on (2 shots a day). Hang in there! -
As you burn fat- your body is releasing all of the hormones stored in that fat - making you extremely emotional, depressed, etc. It's like PMS on super steroids! Get enough Water, Protein and take walks - you'll get past this! If it gets bad - talk to your Dr about it - you may need a short term antidepressant. You've got this!!!

@@acm22_ Keep a list of all the things you want to do once you've lost weight and when you're having a tough time- review it and remember why you're doing this! I had surgery 10/18 - stayed in hospital for 4 days due to nausea. The first night and next day I was in regret mode. I've been home since Friday and doing fairly well. I'm looking forward and keeping my eyes on the prize! Be sure to take your PPI (acid reducer), drink plenty of fluids and keep your mind occupied(read, color, go for a walk, talk to a friend, add to your goal list, write in a journal, etc). Rest and take care of yourself both physically and mentally! Stay strong!

What were your worst symptoms post-op?
KristenLe replied to KaiserKid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would not be able to go back to work in a week. I spent 4 days in the hospital. Working on getting in fluids and Protein is a full-time job right now. -
Weight Gain After Surgery
KristenLe replied to mfoxworthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery same day as you - gained 9lbs in hospital. Heading down now but I'm sure it would be faster if I could get enough fluids into me. -
I had major hair loss in the hospital post-op. My pillow was covered to the point the CNA mentioned it.

Everyone experiences a different journey - there's so many variables that having surgery on the same day means very little. You may be hospitalized longer, she may have more nausea when you have more pain. This isn't a Mani/pedi we are talking about. She sounds extremely childish and self centered. You have a young child - who does she expect to care for your child? I agree with those that have suggested counseling. Do what's best for you and your child!

3 days post op and I can't even keep water down [emoji17]
KristenLe replied to LilReDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try something else until you tolerate it better. I am 5 days out - only got home from hospital yesterday because I was having so much nausea and couldn't keep anything down. I had my SO bring me grape PowerAde Zero and that helped. I'm also on anti-nausea meds and Prilosec for stomach acid. I'm not anywhere near my fluid goals but am trying. Plain water is not my friend - I've been adding sugar free powders to it like crystal light or propel, MiO. Hang in there. Hot tea worked best for me this morning and sf popsicles tonight. -
Able to eat almost anything
KristenLe replied to carmenlw3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 5 out here and I can barely swallow my pills and am no where near goal with fluids. I'm surrounded by real food and can't even imagine eating anything. It's important to get your head in the game - just remember how sick you could get from a lousy bite of food. -
???? I'm finally home! I hate to say it but first few days were way worse than expected and I was well prepared. The nausea was worse than the pain. Wrenching does not feel good 24 hours post-op. :-(. I thought I blow my staples. Today I was well enough to be discharged. Haven't been on pain meds since yesterday morning. I think Chewbacca is living in my stomach though because I can hear him roaring Everytime I open my mouth.
-
I'm still in hospital. Nausea was really bad for first few days and I wasn't getting in any fluids. If I can drink enough today - then I can go home. It'll be nice to sleep in my own bed. Congrats on your journey so far!

cheating on pre-op liquid diet
KristenLe replied to readyanxiousscared's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not being judgmental - I just want you to remember the pre-op diet is for a safer surgery. Your liver needs to shrink - weight loss on the scale is somewhat irrelevant. Eating high fat / high carb foods may be an issue. I encourage you to try and get your eating disorder under control before surgery because it really helps the post-op experience. I had surgery Tuesday and stuck with liquid diet only for 3 weeks before that. My Dr said it was a good thing I did as he had to move my liver alot due to stretching of my stomach. Don't take any chances. Good luck! -
Spent the day in recovery because there weren't any beds available on the Surgical ICU. Surgery at 7:30 - woke up in agony and major nausea at around 12:30. My Mom and Man came in to see me at 1:30 but felt so horrid I told them to head home. They were waiting since 6am. Anyway - feel much better. Very little gas. Some acid or that kind of uncomfortable feeling/pain. I'm hitting the Dilaudid button a fair amount. Sat up for a while in recovery and now in a room and took a walk (just 1 lap for now!). Thanks for thinking of me and for your prayers.

Any Shakeology folks out there?
KristenLe replied to Shellybean22's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Higher carb shakes can impact weight loss. I use Bariatric fusion powder and it's really good. You want to find a shake with low sugar - low carb - high protein. -

What has been the hardest part of your journey thus far?
KristenLe replied to xoxococojay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Sai I'm hoping the preop diet is the hardest part of my journey too! -
I would think you'd get very sick and have a lot of pain. If you start to feel "not right" - head to ER. I really don't think it's possible to pop your stomach though.
