Not losing on pre op diet

I would take something for constipation. If you're eating cucumbers and celery, you should be having a BM. Avoid sodium during the liquid only phase. Drink alot and then some more! ???? I'm sure that your liver has shrunk if you stuck to the diet. Good luck.
  2. What do you eat in a typical day? Are you drinking enough fluids? How about exercise? @@Renkoss

Sometimes, the Universe reminds us to be grateful.

That's very sad. I'm so glad someone spotted her before it was too late.
  4. I have to drink protein shakes in the hospital post-op (from what I'm told).

    Starting Now - Prep

Getting your emotional eating issues understood is important! Every program is different in what they require for a pre-op diet. I don't have one except day before. Congrats on your marriage!!!

    Can I eat this?

@@LipstickLady I love ham salad! It's something my Nana used to eat and I often get it at the deli. I've never made my own but will some day!
  8. @@reachbree You don't need this stress! They don't get to make decisions for you. They should do some further research and realize that it's a less than 5% chance of keeping weight off when lost on your own. An extreme weight loss program is NOT sustainable. Please try not to let them upset you! This is NOT cosmetic surgery. Hang in there!!!

Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

I come to Bariatric Pal for information and the experience of others - mostly from the veterans. I would most likely not bother with this any longer if the veterans have a private forum instead of posting in the usual forums.

    My hair!

I think it is more from the dramatic weight loss than actual surgery.

@ Try lactose free protein shakes or make your own.

    One week pre op

I haven't had WLS yet but don't let the pain concern you - that's what pain meds are for. The gas pains are uncomfortable but walking helps. Good luck!!! Stay strong!

    One week pre op

The pre-op diet is not about losing weight. It takes time to adjust and show any weight loss anyway. You are going to do great!!!
  15. I would like Carrie Underwood's legs...please! ????

    Decisions

Only 5% or less of morbidly obese people keep off weight they've lost on their own. That's a scary statistic! I lost and gained several times over the years - I need to have WLS to give me a better chance to lose a significant amount and keep it off! Good luck at your consult!
  17. You're not too thin - you look great! Charts are BS!!!

    Vacation

Wow - that's cutting it close. Hope the airlines are running on time! That takes some serious guts! Good for you! I wish you luck!
  19. It's about damn time you saw yourself as thin! Lol

    Sugar

That sounds like a blood sugar issue.
  21. Models are not "normal" sized. I agree - most look too thin and unhealthy. Don't strive to look like a model - don't worry about BMI (I find the BMI chart to be unrealistic) - get healthy and where you feel happy with yourself! I would actually prefer to look like a "plus size model" than a mainstream model. Plus size models are probably a size 12 - certainly not considered fat in my eyes.
  22. It depends on your plan. The plan should tell you how much protein and how often you should be eating. At a lower starting weight - it is not surprising you lost slower than those with alot to lose.

    Gallbladder questions!

It could be gallbladder but it could also just be a reaction from eating too much and irritating your stomach and/or esophagus. Call your surgeon and explain your symptoms.
  24. I would reconsider and go through insurance (if you qualify). Take the time to prepare for life after WLS - it'll benefit you in the long run. The other issue to consider is the importance of having a local Bariatric Team to help you post-op. If you have any issues or concerns - you'll have someone available. It's also important to get your mind in the place that you can be more successful - the surgery is on your stomach - not your brain (and your brain plays a major role in eating habits and emotions after surgery!).
  25. Would you consider couple's counseling? I think she's probably more afraid of what will happen when you lose weight and she hasn't. Maybe you can start doing physical activities together. Is she willing to eat less and healthier - so she can benefit from your journey as well?? I'm sure she's feeling insecure. Talk to her.
