    Sore throat

@@jesse10616 You may need something else instead of Nexium or added to the Nexium. Call your Dr and see if they can give you something else.
  2. Have you considered they are skinny because they work out?? Gyms are for people who want to exercise and workout - regardless of their BMI. Many thin people work very hard to maintain their weight. Some of them may be former fatties. Maybe they're feeling judged by you.

    Count down begins... surgery tomorrow!

I had very bad nausea and couldn't keep anything down or get enough fluids.

    Protein goals

Be sure to check the sugar content. Many aren't Bariatric friendly.

    Stomach spams/cramping

I was done on the 18th and can't have pureed food until 10/26 (one week). Maybe it's just too soon for you.

    Count down begins... surgery tomorrow!

Good luck!!! I brought my phone charger, Chapstick, my Kindle (never used - was in for 4 days), a nightgown(never wore), a few pairs of comfy underwear (which I needed since every time I vomited or wretched - I peed myself! Lol). I also packed pads in case I got my period. I peed right after I checked in which was a mistake because I then couldn't give a urine sample for them to run pregnancy test. Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride. Remember the goals and why you are doing this - you may need a reminder the first few days. Walk as soon as you can and keep going! Many prayers!!!
  7. Yes! Everytime i drink, my stomach.rumbles and makes a weird loud noise. Then my chest tightens a bit and i think the gas travels to my chest and shoulder.. thank you for.sharing your experience Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App Walking and moving around helped me the most. Even if I just stood in place, marched, moved my arms around or rocked back and forth.

    Weird noises

I think it's just our stomachs saying WTF and all the stomach acid, gas and fluids moving around.

    Rummbling stomach all day

It's common to gain weight after surgery. They pump you full of fluids, swelling, etc is the reason. Don't pay attention to the scale. Keep sipping and walking - that's the best for gas. Move around even if you are just marching in place or moving your arms. Hopefully your surgeon ordered a PPI (acid reducer). You can also try Gas X strips. My stomach has been making noises (think Chewbacca meets Sasquatch ????) but it's normal. I also have watery diarrhea (which I prefer over constipation). I think walking has helped me the most. Hang in there! I was sleeved on the 18th - wasn't discharged until 10/21 and every day gets better.
  10. KristenLe

    Sleeved yesterday 10/21/16

Take small sips - the fluids will go right thru sleeve so it shouldn't fill your stomach. Good luck!

    Skin

You really can't work out until cleared by your surgeon. You risk hernias and complications. Walking is just about all you can do for the next few weeks anyway. Skin has more to do with genetics, how much weight to lose, how many times you've lost and gained, and age. You can help by getting enough Protein and fluids, taking Vitamins and keeping your skin moisturized - and then some strength/resistance training once cleared. It still is no guarantee. Deal with the skin if it gets to that point - right now concentrate on getting healthy and eating properly. It's important not to dwell on the scale either - your weight will fluctuate and stall. Just stay with your plan and you will lose weight at a healthy rate.
  13. Cutting calories is not always the answer - you may need to increase calories to kick out of a stall. Track your food and drinks- be sure you are concentrating on protein and no calorie fluids.

    5 days post op

You need to meet your Protein and Fluid goals. Stay off the scale - stay on the plan!

    5 days post op

You should not even be weighing yourself right now. It's common to gain weight the first week from all the fluids pumped into you in the hospital and the swelling. Just concentrate on fluids and protein and stick to your plan- you will lose weight! I gained 9 lbs in hospital. I'm also 5 days post-op.
  16. Try a compression shirt or abdominal binder. I've been lucky to have very little pain or discomfort as most seem to have. I was sleeping on my side the night of surgery.

    Feeling scared

@@FloC I had surgery the day after you and can't even imagine eating chocolate. It's extremely important that you seek professional help to deal with emotional eating. Ask if there's a psychologist as part of your program. You don't want to waste this opportunity but more importantly- you can cause significant harm and life threatening complications going off plan. Learning to deal with head hunger and cravings is critical to long term success. I still have cravings and most likely always will. They didn't operate on our brains. I would donate the baby food. The fruits are not good for a Bariatric diet. Don't move ahead with the stages. If you are having a fair amount of sugar - you will continue to increase your cravings for more. You can do this if you put your mind to it!!!

    Ideas, please?

I wouldn't cut down protein because of constipation. Protein is too important for healing and weight loss. As @@LipstickLady so wisely stated - take something for the constipation. I'm not on food stage yet but here's some ideas I'm thinking of for that time. Egg salad, chicken salad, ham salad, seafood salad, tuna salad (mayo or Italian style), a buffalo chicken dip type casserole, ricotta bake (change up the ingredients if you don't like something - I'm not a fan of oregano either), chicken parm bake (will modify ricotta bake recipe), Mexican dip (refried Beans, sour cream, cheese, etc), little meatballs (mushier than usual) with either red sauce or a mushroom gravy (Swedish meatballs - not Swedish fish ????), hummus(with cucumbers once I can have them or added to something else), blended chili, savory homemade soups(no Pasta or rice), egg (quiche) muffins (recipe online) or crustless quiche, you can make the egg, tuna and chicken salad with different things to change it up (avocado, dill relish, dried mustard), cauliflower pizza, soft cheese... Can you tell I haven't eaten in 3 weeks! ???? Use your imagination and stay with in your plan. Enjoy!

    Recipies

Try the world according to egg face website. Also there's a cook book that my program recommended. https://www.amazon.com/Weight-Loss-Surgery-Cookbook-Dummies/dp/0470640189/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1477248008&sr=8-2&keywords=bariatric+cookbook

    Advice!

I have 6 too but they're glued - never had bandages. Without the bandages they'll be able to dry out and heal faster. My biggest incision is 4 inches.

    Propel?

so Vitamin water zero is acceptable too?? I don't like plain water and it makes me nervous all we have to drink. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Propel, power ade zero and Vitamin Water Zero are all good options. No sugar and have electrolytes. I loved water pre-op - haven't been able to drink it post-op (at least not yet).
  23. On my way to the hospital for a 6am check-in! Make room on the loser's bench! ????????????. Best of luck and prayers for all my Oct 18th BP Pals!
  24. 4ozs of cheese in a serving or liquids? My plan allows 1-2ozs of puree but not until week 2. I had 8ozs of Protein shake in about 30 mins. That's not going to be filling though as it goes right thru you. Be careful not to eat too much or off plan.

    Today's the day!

Thanks everyone! I'm doing pretty good. Chewbacca has been joined by Sasquatch in my stomach though. :-). I'm doing better with fluids and protein today. I'm freezing so I'm under the covers with a heating pad and a portable heater blowing on me. Timing my nap and walk around football. Thanks for asking about me! Much appreciated!
