Hunger, pain, problems with shakes...
KristenLe replied to jodieg8er's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like an ulcer. I'm assuming your Dr did an Endoscopy or Upper GI prior to surgery. Did they identify any issues? There's no way what you describe is head hunger and it's unfortunate your Dr didn't look for the cause. You may need something in addition to Pepcid. Have you tried broth? You could also make your own Protein shakes so they don't have that nasty chemical taste. I'm somewhat surprised your surgeon did the sleeve with your history of GERD. Hope you feel better soon. If the pain is really bad - I wouldn't hesitate to go to the ER. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -

Weight Loss Stopped After Illness
KristenLe replied to Newlife4nita's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You really need to speak to your Bariatric Team about this. Considering the circumstances - advice and guidance really needs to come from them. Prayers you feel better soon! -
Take a deep breath! Think of the positive things that you will be able to do after weight loss. Write a list of things you want to do! Distract yourself - walk, color, read, clean, etc. You have this - don't worry!

Getting frustrated

@@Lizardlady Be careful! Lol. From what I've read - tastes change post-op and often smell is heightened making things gag-worthy. Hope you find something! -
Pre opp diet starts june 21
KristenLe replied to shellsndreams's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can add spices. Try other brands too. -
@@Stillmissing Hang in there! They're being overly cautious. I know the constant worry. This past year every time I went for a test it showed a problem elsewhere. I had a CT of my kidneys/abdomen which showed a lung nodule. I would not even know about it if didn't go to check kidneys. Now I get a CT scan every 6 months to monitor it. It's frightening. Good luck on further testing.

No Nutrisystem. Take this opportunity to learn to eat properly so you can be successful post-op. Does your Bariatric Team have a program you can do? That's what I did. Your diet should consist of high protein and low carb. Cut out soda or high caloric drinks. No pasta, bread or rice. Concentrate on Protein and produce. You can start to replace a meal with a protein shake. Use small plates, eat slowly. I would also use this time to deal with an emotional eating issues or mindless eating. I attended therapy for 3 months and it's helped. Don't waste time or $ on Nutrisystem.

One Week Post-op - Hungry!
KristenLe replied to becomingmandikaye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may be stomach acid. Are you on a PPI? -
I believe it's fine if not stringy. Can I ask what you are going to eat it with?

stalled for 5 months....how to prevent bad habits?
KristenLe replied to linuxangel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ Congrats on your weight loss so far! The emotional eating aspect of this is so difficult. I would strongly encourage counseling/therapy with someone familiar with bariatric surgery. I have gone pre-op and it has really helped me to avoid mindless/emotional eating and the "bad habits". I would also suggest that you go back to basics - you need to remove the simple carbs from your diet - or they will continue to trigger additional cravings. Look at the 5 day pouch reset /test - it brings you back to the initial post-op stage to get you back on track. Log everything you eat - make sure you are sticking with Protein and produce - no Pasta, rice, bread, candy, etc. Stay strong - you haven't gained so that's a plus!!! -
I would not worry about the gain - I'm sure it's only water. You very well might not be eating enough with the amount you are exercising.

Mental energy and body temperature after VSG?
KristenLe replied to purplelink's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@purplelink I wonder if the sleeve will work in your situation? It's about restriction and you are already doing that on your own. I would go to an endocrinologist for further testing before going to the extreme of surgery. Your exercise seems on the excessive side and you may have screwed up your metabolism having such a high calorie deficit. Again - I would get more opinions and see if there's an underlying medical issue at play. Surgery is life changing and at 155lbs - I'd be reluctant to have it - especially if you are already restricting calories and eating high protein low carb. Hope you get answers! -
@@JazzyJade I would recommend taking the FMLA. You never know if there will be complications that may delay your recovery. If you don't end up needing the time - then you could go back sooner. Your surgeon in Mexico will complete the paperwork for FMLA. Contact them to find out how that works exactly. Good luck. I believe you have to have follow-up here as well though - and that Dr. may need to release you to go back to work.

How much protein and water are you getting?

@@motherboard You should not have to buy Vitamins from your surgeon's office. Did you ask why that particular one is required? It seems like it's just a $ issue.
